Job Description
The National High Performance Coach will have responsibilities for managing Rugby Canada’s High Performance Skill Development Programs as well as serving in the role of Head Coach of the National Men’s Sevens Team.
Roles
Other Duties
· Develop the strategy best suited to the available resources.
· Supply player selection input to National Age Grade Coaches.
· Liaise with advisors around the country and National Age Grade Coaches.
· Observe games to help in identifying new and talented players
· Provide effective and practical game, practice and individual player plans – these plans need to be documented and sent to players plus HP Director.
· Provide game and player analysis.
· Work alongside the HP Director with the alignment of Senior, Sevens and Age Grade Programmes.
· Attend high profile games across the country
· Attend the America Rugby Championships (ARC) games and training camps.
· Work closely in order to support all National Coaches and ARC Coaches.
· Identify and recruit talented athletes from other sports to the game of rugby
· Be prepared to travel as part of professional staff development and to observe players, coaches and communicate with National Coaches abroad.
· Support Rugby Canada in its player and coach development program.

· Knowledge of and strong desire to work in High Performance Rugby in Canada
· Previous high performance coaching experience and involvement with the game at Senior or Age Grade level.
· Desire to achieve a standard of excellence
· Positive and enthusiastic
· Familiarity with high performance player needs in short term competitions
· Maintain the highest level of confidentiality
· Strong knowledge of Rugby Canada, its member branches and various affiliated organizations
· Flexibility in working hours, evenings, weekends, and ability to travel through the season including weekends and holidays
· Strong sense of individual deportment and presentation
Qualifications
Any combination of experience and education that demonstrates:
- Coaching accreditation. Level 3 (or equivalency) will be deemed as highly desirable
- Ability to work with others
- Experience at High Performance level as a player or coach
- A sound understanding and ability to establish a High Performance sport environment
- Previous coaching experience at the Provincial age grade level would be an asset
- Previous international coaching experience would be an advantage – coached at International level
- Experience and accreditation as a Coach Educator and/or experience at developing high performance coaches
