Wage Range: $100,000 - $120,000 per annum (commensurate with experience and qualifications); eligible for salary increase and discretionary, performance-based bonuses

Rugby Canada (RC) is the national sport organization committed to the domestic development and international success of Rugby Canada.
OBJECTIVE OF HIGH PERFORMANCE MANAGER, SEVENS Rugby Canada is seeking a High Performance Manager, Sevens who will be responsible for the leadership, management and enhancement of the daily training environment of Rugby Canada’s development and elite Rugby Sevens Programs. The primary challenge of this position is to improve Canada's international success and status, supporting the Head Coaches of the Men’s and Women’s Sevens programs to achieve their respective goals.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRIORITIES High Performance Manager, Sevens will be responsible for performing the following roles and/or delivering the following outcomes:
- High Performance Sevens Program Leadership
- Management of the Daily Training Environment for the Sevens Carded Program
- Management of Integrated Support Team
- Leadership of the Talent Identification Pathway for Sevens
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide leadership to the Women’s and Men’s Sevens high performance programs
- Lead the performance review of National Sevens Teams
- Provide leadership to Rugby Canada’s Integrated Support Team (IST) staff, both centralized and decentralized, and ensure that the High Performance program is serviced by high quality medical support, the necessary strength and conditioning programs and athlete welfare support mechanisms
- Work with program Head Coaches to design and deliver the Sevens Daily Training Environment at the Centre of Excellence
- Preparation, implementation and monitoring of development and high performance plans
- Drive the research and development program for Rugby Canada, and keep up-to-date with the latest high performance research and provide support and advice to all our performance staff
- Develop and lead the Player Welfare Program
- Lead the player contracting requirements for Rugby Canada and monitor the Athlete Assistance (“Carding”) Program
- Implement and oversee Performance Analysis and Management systems
- Establish and deliver best practice development and high performance systems for players, coaches, match officials and administrative staff
- Assist with the development and delivery of Sevens High Performance Strategic Plans; initiate long term planning strategies to ensure Rugby Canada’s success in Pinnacle Events, particularly the Summer Olympic Games, World Series and Sevens World Cups
- Ensure that these plans are integrated into Rugby Canada’s Long Term Rugby Development Plans
- Help to drive a culture of High Performance Excellence
- Lead the delivery of national talent identification and national development strategies ensuring that they are implemented into all National Age Team and National Senior Sevens programs
- Ensure that the National Sevens program based in Victoria, the Carded Athlete program and the Regional Academy programs are all integrated into the high performance talent development player pathway
- In conjunction with the Manager, sevens Talent Identification and Development, oversee the high performance programs in each of the regional high performance programs
- In collaboration with program managers, prepare and monitor high performance Sevens budgets
- Develop effective working relationships with external funding stakeholders, consultants, and Union personnel
- Assist and support the professional development of all coaching and medical support staff and volunteers operating within the high performance Sevens programs
- Management and education of development and high performance staff ensuring that they contribute to the achievement of overall strategic goals of the organization.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS Education and Experience
- Post-secondary education in Sports Science, Human Movement, Sports Administration or other relevant field highly desirable
- Must have at least five (5) years of experience in a High Performance role in a professional and/or Olympic sporting environment or international Academy/Institute
- A background of working in a professional Rugby environment, preferably Sevens, required
- Experience in working with an International Sporting Organization an advantage
- The ability to work in the French language would be welcome

- Ability to develop and implement a robust Sevens talent identification system and high performance athlete development pathway leading to podium success
- Demonstrated experience in delivering elite sports programs
- Understanding of the needs and challenges of establishing elite Rugby Sevens programs in developing Unions
- An extensive professional network in the High Performance or elite sports industry
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with external funding stakeholders, consultants and Union personnel
- A high level of organizational and management skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Sound personnel, administration and financial skills with demonstrated experience in managing significant budgets
- Understanding of elite sporting team management
- A high level of operational IT competency
