HEAD ATHLETIC THERAPIST of the NATIONAL SENIOR WOMEN’S TEAM
Kim Oslund
The person in this role is responsible for managing the medical, athletic therapy and anti-doping education relevant to all of Rugby Canada’s High Performance programs. The role includes all organizational and administrative matters associated with these activities as well as a selection of day-to-day operations. It includes, but is not limited to, performing as a practitioner, the recruitment of staff, health and medical staff monitoring, the preparation of daily agendas, the maintenance of a selection of databases and the documentation of reports.
A major component of this role is to act as the athletic therapist for the National Women’s team and the National Women’s Sevens team as well as providing administrative and medical support services for all other Rugby Canada national programs.
Kim Oslund is currently employed by Rugby Canada as Manager, Health Services & Head Athletic Therapist of the National Senior Women's Team. Kim joined Rugby Canada full-time in July 2011, but was previously a service provider since 2002 for international tours, including Rugby World Cup 2007. Kim has an extensive background in the field of athletic therapy and sport injury management. Kim graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Victoria and also obtained a diploma in Sport Injury Management from Sheridan College.
Kim holds a number of certifications in her field, including Certified Athletic Therapist, Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, Canadian Red Cross Emergency Medical Responder Instructor and Active Release Techniques provider. She has worked in the capacity of Head Athletic Therapist for a number of high performance sports and teams in Victoria, BC and is presently the Lead Athletic Therapist for the Canadian Wheelchair Rugby program. Prior to joining Rugby Canada, Kim spent time as an Instructor and Placement Coordinator at Camosun College and also volunteered at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games (Host Medical Team, Richmond Oval). She has also worked two years of professional hockey with the Victoria Salmon Kings. Kim is the owner of Ozmosis Wellness Inc. where she treats patients privately in Victoria.
Kim was born and currently resides in Victoria, BC and has a specialty in rugby as a therapist. As an athlete she was a member of the University of Victoria Women's Basketball team who won two national championships.
