Wage Range: $100,000 - $120,000 per annum (commensurate with experience and qualifications)

Rugby Canada (RC) is the national sport organization committed to the domestic development and international success of Rugby Canada.
OBJECTIVE
Rugby Canada is seeking a Manager, High Performance who will be responsible for the management of the daily training environment of Rugby Canada’s development and elite Rugby Programs. The primary challenge of this position is to improve Rugby Canada's international success and status, particularly in Sevens rugby for both men and women’s teams.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRIORITIES
The Manager, High Performance will be responsible for performing the following roles and/or delivering the following outcomes:
- Providing leadership to the Women’s and Men’s Sevens high performance programs;
- Leading the performance review of National Sevens Teams;
- Providing leadership of Rugby Canada’s Integrated Support Team (IST) staff, both centralized and decentralized, and ensuring that the High Performance program is serviced by high quality medical support, the necessary strength and conditioning programs and athlete welfare support mechanisms;
- Helping to design and monitor the Daily Training Environment at Langford, particularly focused on the Sevens Carded teams;
- Driving the research and development program for Rugby Canada, and keeping up-to-date with the latest high performance research to provide support and advice to all our performance staff;
- Developing and leading the Player Welfare Program;
- Leading the player contracting requirements for Rugby Canada and monitoring the Athlete Assistance (“Carding”) Program;
- Implementing and overseeing Performance Analysis and Management systems;
- Assisting with the development and delivery of High Performance Strategic Plans; initiating long term planning strategies to ensure Rugby Canada’s success in Pinnacle Events, particularly the Summer Olympic Games and Rugby World Cups;
- Ensuring that these plans are integrated into Rugby Canada’s Long Term Rugby Development Plans;
- Helping to drive a culture of High Performance Excellence;
- Ensuring that national talent identification and national development strategies are implemented into all National Age Team programs and National Sevens programs;
- Ensuring that the National Sevens program based in Victoria, the Carded Athlete program and the Regional Academy programs are all integrated into the high performance talent development player pathway;
- In conjunction with the Player Development Manager, overseeing the high performance programs in each of the regional high performance programs;
- Management and education of development and high performance staff ensuring that they contribute to the achievement of overall strategic goals of the organization;
- Establishment and delivery of best practice development and high performance systems for players, coaches, match officials and administrative staff;
- Developing effective working relationships with external funding stakeholders, consultants and Union personnel;
- Preparation, implementation and monitoring of development and high performance plans;
- Preparing and monitoring high performance budgets; and
- Assisting and supporting the professional development of all coaching and medical support staff and volunteers operating within the high performance programs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
Key Competencies
- Demonstrated experience in delivering elite sports programs
- Ability to develop and implement a robust talent identification system and high performance athlete development pathway leading to podium success
- Understanding of elite sporting team management
- Understanding of the needs and challenges of establishing elite Rugby programs in developing Unions
- An extensive professional network in the High Performance or elite sports industry
- A high level of organizational and management skills
- Sound personnel, administration and financial skills with demonstrated experience in managing significant budgets
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- A high level of operational IT competency
- A high degree of cultural awareness in dealing with personnel from a different cultural background.
Education and Experience
- Post-secondary education in Sports Science, Human Movement, Sports Administration or other relevant field is highly desirable
- At least five (5) years of experience in a High Performance role in a professional and/or Olympic sporting environment or international Academy/Institute
- A background of working in a professional Rugby environment
- Experience in working with an International Sporting Organization an advantage
- The ability to work in the French language would be welcome
