COORDINATOR, NATIONAL PROGRAM COMMUNICATIONS
Bryan Kelly
The overall purpose of the Coordinator, National Program Communications is to serve as a communications resource to Rugby in Canada (AsOne) by assisting in the development and implementation of communications plans and focusing on leveraging Rugby Canada’s stories, brand and reputation in meeting objectives laid out from our Strategic Plan, specifically as it relates to National Programs and Domestic Events. As an event based organization, there is a high level of importance placed on the promotion of athletes, teams and programs participating in Rugby Canada hosted events as well as participation based events hosted by other organizations.
Bryan Kelly is the Coordinator, National Program Communications for Rugby Canada. Bryan began as an intern with Rugby Canada in 2009 and worked as a freelance journalist covering events until being hired in October 2012. As Coordinator, National Program Communications, Bryan leads both internal and external communication, and serves as Rugby Canada’s social media expert, providing and regulating content for Canada's major social platforms.
Raised in Victoria, British Columbia, Bryan played high-level hockey, baseball, and rugby until switching to sports broadcasting and communication in College. Bryan received a Diploma in Applied Communications from Camosun College, before attending Royal Roads University and graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Communication. Bryan was the Play-by-Play commentator for the Saanich Braves Junior Braves Hockey Team for three seasons, calling over 200 games. In 2011, Bryan moved to Edmonton for six months to work as a Social Media and Communications Intern for the NHL's Edmonton Oilers.
Bryan lives in Victoria, BC and works at the Canadian Rugby Centre of Excellence in Langford.
