SRU - Youth Development Officer
The Youth Development Officer will have the major responsibility for continued growth and
development of the sport of rugby at the grassroots level across Saskatchewan. The Youth Development
Officer will be responsible to the Board, under the supervision of the Executive Director and the President
for all activities of SRU.
Specific duties of the Youth Development Officer (YDO) (not prioritized):
1) The successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of all
developmental/grassroots programs.
2) Shall be responsible for the development and implementation of grassroots programs in all youth age
groups throughout the province. This includes the design, implementation, coordination and the
monitoring of all SRU programs and in partnership with the local sub union.
3) Shall maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports on all related programs and clinics.
4) Shall be prepared to travel within the province to carry out the responsibilities necessary to facilitate
athlete development through camps, clinics, and publications and to facilitate grass roots organizational
development.
5) Shall attend board meetings of SRU as deemed applicable by the SRU Board. Also, be prepared upon
the President's request to report on plans and progress in areas that concern his/her job responsibilities.
This will include responsibility for presentation of formal written reports.
6) Responsible for the coordination of the SRU Junior Festival, a province wide high school tournament
including team registrations, field arrangements, referee arrangements, scheduling, etc. All YDOs will
work together on this project.
7) Responsible for the coordination of an annual North Mini Jamboree and South Mini Jamboree
including promotion, registrations, field arrangements and activities. All YDOs will work together on
this project.
Shall perform other duties as deemed applicable by the SRU Board, through the supervision of the
Executive Director.
4 Positions are available with possible locations in: Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Swift Current,
Lloydminster, & Moose Jaw.
Salary: Compensation will be an hourly wage based on qualifications and work completed.
Qualifications: - Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Computer experience
- Strong organizational abilities
- Rugby knowledge as player, coach, referee or administrator is a definite asset
- Basic knowledge of Rugby Canada’s Long Term Rugby Development Model
- Basic knowledge of the sport delivery system in Saskatchewan.
- Must have the ability to work within a budget
Term: April – August
