The Wolves will take an important step in its long term development pathway this winter with a European exhibition tour running December 27 to January 5. The tour is designed to provide Wolves athletes with high level international competition while increasing exposure to different styles of elite women’s hockey.
During the trip, the Wolves will compete against HIFK (U20) in Finland, followed by games in Sweden versus Järna SK, a club competing in the NDL, and Brynäs IF (U20). These matchups will challenge players to adapt to European pace, structure, and tactical systems, supporting growth beyond the North American game.
From a development standpoint, the tour offers Wolves athletes exposure to international coaching philosophies, training environments, and game management concepts. Competing against European U20 and senior-level programs provides valuable benchmarking for players as they prepare for the next stages of their hockey careers.
The tour also serves as a key exposure opportunity for the Edmonton Wolves program. Building relationships with European clubs and organizations strengthens the Wolves’ international network and highlights the quality of female hockey development taking place in Alberta.
“This trip is about accelerating development and broadening perspective,” said Wolves Head Coach and General Manager Bryan Toles. “Our players will be challenged on the ice and gain exposure to how the game is played and developed internationally, which is invaluable for their long term growth.”
The European tour represents another step in the Edmonton Wolves’ commitment to creating high performance experiences that prepare athletes for collegiate, professional, and international opportunities, while continuing to raise the profile of the program on a global stage.
