October Recap

Moira Bryan

The Wolves opened their season on a high note, going 7-0 in October to go undefeated throughout the whole month! They took a couple of bus trips and also established themselves at home, and a handful of rookies were able to get on the scoresheet for their first AJFHL goals!

#10 Brigitte Hetu

The Wolves took to the ice for their home opener against the Sherwood Park Steele on Sunday Oct. 1. The Wolves opened the scoring quickly in the first period with a rocket from #10 Brigitte Hetu to put them up 1-0. Just a minute into the second period, #3 Ainsley McCoy Birk potted another for the Wolves to increase their lead. But the Steele would answer back later in the period with a power play goal to cut the Wolves' lead in half. Both teams battled hard through the third period but both goaltenders closed the doors and the final score remained 2-1 for the Wolves! #29 Havana Batke stopped 17 of 18 shots for her first AJFHL win!

The Wolves are looking to continue their undefeated season into November, but they have a tough weekend coming up as they head to Lethbridge to take on the Eagles for two back-to-back games on Saturday, Nov. 4 and Sunday, Nov. 5. We were happy to see many players establish some firsts in October, and can't wait for many more to come! The Wolves will be in Lethbridge this weekend, but they'll be back in Edmonton area next weekend with a game in Ardrossan vs. Steele on Friday Nov. 10, and in Fort Saskatchewan vs. Fury on Nov. 12, with their first home game of the month being on Saturday, Nov. 18 vs. Steele. We hope to see you there!
