2023/24 Leadership Group and Staff

Moira Bryan

A new season means new additions to the leadership group and staff! We are excited to see many familiar faces returning to both pillars of the team, and also to welcome some new ones!

Leadership Group

Captain: #5 Claudine Boucher
Boucher is returning to lead the Pack for a second consecutive season, having worn an A the year prior. This is her fifth year on the team and also her overage year, so unfortunately also her last season with the Pack. She is a powerful blue liner who plays a two-way game, making key defensive plays as well as rushing the puck and taking blistering shots from the point. Boucher is a leader off the ice by personally connecting with each and every one of her teammates, ensuring a friendly and positive team dynamic. She is the first to gather everyone together for impromptu team building events and unites the team with her positivity and friendship.

Assistant Captain: #18 Tessa Ross
Ross is returning to the leadership group, having worn an A last season as well. This is is her third year on the team and also her overage year, so unfortunately also her last season with the Pack. Ross also dominates on the back end, often relied on during the penalty kill and is gritty and determined in front of the net. Off the ice, Ross is often vocal and encouraging in the dressing room, making sure that everyone is on the same page and focusing on the same things. She is excellent at leading by example with her hard work and determination

Assistant Captain: #15 Tyra Anderson
Anderson is new to the leadership group and will be wearing an A for the first time this season. This is is her third year on the team and also her overage year, so unfortunately also her last season with the Pack. Anderson is a speedy forward who makes smart plays with the puck and has a nose for the net. She is excellent at playing her position within systems and is always in the right place. Anderson is very approachable and positive and leads by example through her hustle and game play.

Assistant Captain: #6 Brooklyn Piebiak
Piebiak is also new to the leadership group and will be wearing an A for the first time this season, despite this being her third year on the team. Piebiak's work ethic, battle prowess, and hard shot set her apart as a forward. She also has been known to slot into the D lineup as needed and is an asset all over the ice. Piebiak is outgoing and friendly, and not afraid to speak up in the dressing room or on the bench. She is the first to chat up all of her teammates, make friends, and make sure everyone is staying positive and keeping those good vibes going.

Staff

Head Coach / Director: Bryan Toles
Toles has been coaching hockey since 2010 and coaching the Wolves since 2016. He stepped into the head coach position for the Wolves in 2020. In addition to coaching, Toles has been involved in female hockey in Edmonton through being a founding board member of the Edmonton Female Athletic Club (EFAC) and the Edmonton Female Hockey Alliance (EFHA) and serving as President of the Edmonton Girls Hockey Association (EGHA) in the past and as U22 Director currently. Toles has coached as an assistant coach and head coach at the Alberta Challenge Cup and Alberta Winter Games on numerous occasions. Toles strives for excellence with the Wolves and quickly establishes team systems to unify the team's game play and ensure that everyone knows what they're supposed to be doing in any given situation. He's a collaborative coach who appreciates input and ideas, and values team staff and his leadership group. Toles goes above and beyond in the ways that he runs the team, and we are so happy to have him at the helm for another season!

Assistant Coach / Manager: Hayley Butz
Butz is from Stony Plain AB, and is a Wolves alumni and nearly captained the team to a championship in the winter of 2020 before playoffs were shut down due to the covid-19 pandemic. The team values her playing and life experiences, and players often ask for her advice and coaching on and off the ice. We are so happy to have you back Butzy!

Gauchier intends to shift her knowledge onto the coaching side to help increase the interest in women's hockey for small communities and Indigenous communities. She is excited to gain experience in hockey as a coach, and not just a player. We are so excited to see you take on this new role, Chelsea!

McGinnis is from Norcan hockey and is entering his fourth season with the Wolves. He played his U18 & Jr A hockey in North Battleford Saskatchewan before shifting to coaching in 2001. McGinnis is a full-time employee with Hockey Alberta, Certified Hockey Canada skill development Coach, and scout for the Canmore Eagles (AJHL) along with various other hockey endeavours. He joins the wolves staff with a focus on player development and video training. McGinnis is a student of the game and loves to study hockey’s finer and often overlooked details in an attempt to create clarity. His personal approach utilizes video examples coupled with descriptive language and game-like training scenarios. McGinnis brings passion and intensity to the practice environment which is designed to  translate into gameplay improvements. We are excited to welcome him back for another season!

Goalie Coach / Scout: Ariana Kresic
Kresic is a Wolves alumni who graduated from the University of Alberta with a Kinesiology degree. She has been the assistant coach for the Wolves for the past three years, as well as working with Kurtis Mucha Goalie Consulting. Kresic has recently stepped into a new role as head coach for the NCI U15AA team. A true student of the game, Kresic's ability to pick up on the little things is exceptional. Being a well respected and seasoned goalie coach in the region, she is giving our goalies complete access to elite goalie and cognitive training that is second to none. We are so excited that Kresic has stepped into this role on the team!

Video Coach / Communications Manager: Moira Bryan
Bryan is from Victoria BC and moved to Edmonton to play for the NAIT Ooks. After two years with the Ooks she has played for the Wolves for the past three seasons. Bryan has experience with web design, content creation, and social media, and has been behind the scenes, managing the Wolves' website and accounts for the past two years. While this is her first year coaching on the team, Bryan has been a part of the organization for a while now and knows the players, the systems, and what it takes to win. We are so excited to welcome you into this new role on the team, Moira!

Strength and Conditioning Coach: Anne-Marie Dumont
