SFU Hockey: Staff - Coaching

COACHING STAFF

MARK COLETTA - Head Coach

Mark began his career in hockey as a successful junior and university player, first with the PIJHL's Richmond Sockeyes and later as a National Championship winner at NCAA Division III Plattsburgh State in New York.

Upon graduating from college, Coletta returned to British Columbia and began his career in coaching. Mark spent one season as an assistant coach with the BCHL's Surrey Eagles and went on to coach a number of elite rep teams at the Burnaby Winter Club, where he once played his minor hockey.

Mark joined the Simon Fraser University Men's Ice Hockey program in July 2008 and won his first BC Intercollegiate Hockey League Championship in March, 2010. He was named the BCIHL's Coach of the Year in 2009 and 2010 and has led the team to a regular season record of 32-6-2 in league play during his first two seasons at SFU.

JIM CAMAZZOLA - Associate Coach

Jim is in his third season as an Assistant Coach at Simon
Fraser University and he brings an impressive playing and coaching resume to the SFU Men's hockey program.

He enjoyed a tremendous junior career with the Western Hockey League's Kamloops Junior Oilers and New Westminster Bruins and was named to the All-Star team at the 1984 Memorial Cup. A Chicago Blackhawks draft pick, Jim made his NHL debut in 1986 and went on to play three seasons in the American and International Hockey Leagues before moving to Europe, where he spent 15 professional seasons in Italy and Germany before retiring as a player in 2002.

He has coached at home and abroad, and has held head coaching positions with Asiago HC in Italy's Serie A and with the Pacific International Junior Hockey League's Delta Icehawks. Jim works closely with SFU's defencemen.
