SFU Hockey: A Letter to SFU Campus Groups
A LETTER TO SFU CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS
Subject: Let's build a stronger campus community together
(or just let us give you some free swag!)
Dear SFU Clubs and Organizations,
SFU Men's Hockey is reaching out to the Burnaby, Vancouver, and Surrey campus communities in an effort to build stronger bonds with our fellow campus groups. We feel that we share a major goal with the majority of SFU organizations, in that we strive to build a stronger, more active, and more engaging campus community within the student body.
Our hope is that by working together we will be able to support each other’s efforts and activities in such a way that yields better results than working on our own. We realize that there is a strong community already present on all three major campuses, so part of this letter is a simple ‘hello’ to the groups that have been around for some time but are not familiar with our program.
SFU Men’s Hockey was re-established in 2004, and has grown by leaps and bounds every year since. We compete in the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League at a level of competition consistent with CIS and NCAA standards. If you are a hockey fan, we guarantee you will be impressed with the level of competition as well as some of the new events we have planned for the 2012/13 season.
We would like to offer our support to other SFU clubs and organizations. Whether you are planning fundraisers, events, or just like to get out and catch a hockey game, we have something to offer you. We will provide discounted (or in certain situations free) tickets to an SFU Hockey game to help you fundraise, promote your events within our student networks (we just broke 800 twitter followers!), and we are always looking for new opportunities to donate season tickets and build our fan base. In fact, if you bring 10 or more people to an SFU Men's Hockey game, we’ll give you a free t-shirt and season ticket.
SFU Men's Hockey also works closely with SFU Women's Hockey to promote the growth of the Women's program as well. Any interest to plan events through either program will be gladly accepted!
If you are interested in helping us engage the student body and build a stronger campus community, please don’t hesitate to contact us. TJ Radonjic (tar4@sfu.ca) is our friendly Campus Liaison Officer and will be working with many different groups this year, and I am always available to discuss possibilities as well.
We hope to hear from you!
