SFU Hockey: SFU Goes to Game Three
SFU Forces Game Three Against TWU
Playoffs. Game Three. Sunday Night.
It’s the BCIHL semi-finals and for The Trinity Western University Spartans and the Simon Fraser University Clan it all comes down to Game Three.
SFU was the favourite going into Thursday night, finishing in second place in the BCIHL standings, and having won 3 of 4 matchups against TWU this season.
Despite this, the Spartan’s fought hard, taking Game One 3-2 at home, thanks in part to a pair of rapid goals from JP Villeneuve and stellar goaltending from Silas Matthy.
SFU responded the next night with at shutout at home. Andrew Parent stopped all 31 shots sent his way while Nick Sandor and Yan Kalashnikov netted a pair of second period goals for SFU.
The winner of Sunday night’s game will advance to the BCIHL Finals next weekend, against the winner of Selkirk College and Thompson Rivers University.
Game Three goes down Sunday night at 8pm in Bill Copeland Sports Centre.
Tickets are $5 for children and students, and $10 for adults. Current SFU students and BC Minor hockey players in their jerseys are free.
