Team USA touched down in Brno, Czechia late Wednesday night after flying into Vienna and completing the trip by bus to the team hotel. The 2025 Women’s World Floorball Championships officially begin on December 6, and Team USA's first game is Saturday at 14:00 local time against Singapore.
The team has been preparing since winning the Americas Qualifier back in March, and the roster arriving in Brno is a confident and highly motivated group. On Thursday, the team hit the court for their first practice in Czechia, a chance to shake off travel legs and get into game rhythm. More training sessions, both tactical and on-court, are planned leading up to Saturday’s opener.
Team Manager Ann Lövgren shared an early look at the group’s mindset:
“The energy of the team is great - a mix of players from all over the world, all proudly representing Team USA. We arrived late Wednesday night, but everyone is already excited for our first practice. The team feels excited, and everyone is feeling well.”
Head Coaches Frédéric Bernabo and Michaël Grandchamp emphasized both performance goals and long-term development:
“Our primary goal for Team USA is to win two games at this WFC. In terms of development, this tournament will be an important step in integrating our seven rookies - six field players and one goalie - into the highest level of international floorball. It’s a balance of experience and new talent, and we want them to bring this experience home to continue raising the level of U.S. floorball.”
Team USA enters the tournament ranked 14th in the world after the last WFC, but comes into this year with new momentum and several exciting storylines. One of the most anticipated is the presence of legendary scorer Marie Häggström, who stands 4th all-time in Women’s WFC scoring history. Another highlight is the WFC debut of Jenny Hallström, a Boston-based newcomer who grew up playing for Sweden’s U19 program and made a strong impression during the U.S. Nationals this summer.
On defense, Team USA will be without veteran defender Tiffany Gerber, but will lean on rising talent Ester Angerstig (Dallas, TX), whose reliability and game sense have stood out throughout the year.
The coaches added that Thursday marked the first on-court session for this new squad, with one final player still en route:
“Once everyone is here, we will officially have the full roster representing Team USA in Czechia. One of our biggest strengths is the experience of our senior players, who will lead the group and hopefully deliver some surprises this year. Team spirit is excellent, and the players are eager to step onto the field Saturday for our first game against Singapore.”
Team USA continues group play against Germany on Sunday at 10:00 local time, followed by Estonia on Monday at 16:00.
Team USA’s group-stage schedule is as follows:
