USA Floorball Appoints Ryan Connor to Lead Men’s National Team Into New Era NAFL founder brings elite league expertise to build upon the program’s 25-year foundation. After a quarter-century of foundational leadership that began with the organization's inception, the U.S. Men’s National Team program is preparing for a historic transition. Adam Troy, who founded USA Floorball in 1997 and has served as General Manager for nearly the entire history of the Men’s program, recently stepped down, leaving behind a legacy that includes fielding the first U.S. team at the 2002 World Floorball Championships and spearheading the growth of the U19 development pathway. With the foundation firmly established, the torch is now being passed to a new leader tasked with guiding the program into its next era of professionalization and growth.
USA Floorball is pleased to announce the appointment of Ryan Connor as the new General Manager of the U.S. Men’s National Team. Stepping into a role defined by long-term dedication, Connor brings a rare combination of pathway experience and league-building expertise, having served within the U.S. Men’s U19 National Team setup during the 2018–2019 World Floorball Championship (WFC) cycle and later founding and leading the North American Floorball League (NAFL). This appointment is intended to strengthen the senior men’s program with someone who understands both international competition and the realities of developing elite floorball in North America.
Connor’s national team connection is rooted in his work with the Men’s U19 program during the 2019 WFC cycle, which culminated in Halifax, Canada—the first Men’s U19 World Floorball Championship ever held outside Europe. As part of that cycle, he joined the staff group supporting the team’s preparation, including a key development trip to Uppsala, Sweden around Christmas 2018, where a U.S. U19 squad competed at Storvretacupen, one of the world’s largest and most competitive youth floorball tournaments. That experience gave Connor first-hand insight into how American players respond to top-level international opposition and what it takes to prepare them for senior national team standards.
Beyond the national team pathway, Connor is widely recognized in the floorball community as the founder and commissioner of the North American Floorball League, the first elite-level floorball league based in North America. Working closely with franchise owners, he helped design the league format, build out branding and operations, and create a stage where top players from North America and abroad could showcase the sport at a higher level. That league-building experience sharpened his sense of what elite competition requires—on the floor, in logistics, and in long-term planning.
As General Manager of the Men’s National Team, Connor will now bring that same systems-focused approach to the national program. His responsibilities will include long-range planning across WFC cycles, coordination with coaching and support staff, selection and camp frameworks, and alignment with USA Floorball’s broader high-performance and governance standards. Drawing on his league-building background and his earlier work in the U19 environment, he will be tasked with strengthening links between domestic clubs, former NAFL franchises, and the national team pathway so that more American players can move smoothly from youth development to senior international play.
The new leadership’s work begins immediately. The program’s incoming Head Coach will be announced shortly and is confirmed to be in attendance at the upcoming Golden Gate Cup. This event represents a critical first look for the new staff; players interested in National Team consideration are strongly urged to attend the training camp held during the weekend to demonstrate their skills in front of the new General Manager and Head Coach. Another camp will be held in Texas in January in conjunction with NTFA’s Texas 3-Step 3v3 Tournament.
USA Floorball looks forward to working with Connor as he helps guide the next phase of the Men’s National Team. His blend of U19 national team experience, international tournament exposure, and pioneering work in establishing North America’s first elite floorball league gives him a distinctive perspective on both the opportunities and the challenges ahead. Building on the quarter-century legacy of his predecessor, this appointment is intended to bring greater alignment, professionalism, and long-term vision to the U.S. Men’s program as the global profile of floorball continues to rise.
