Hans-Olov Forsman Joins USA Men’s Under 19 Program as European Consultant

USA Men’s U19 General Manager Keene Addington has added Hans-Olov Forsman as a European Consultant to the USA Men’s Under 19 Program.

Hans-Olov Forsman’s first contact with Floorball was as a player in beginning of 1980's at Viskans Fritidsgaard in Helsingborg, Sweden. Viskan grew and went through a number fusions, which formed the Swedish SSL-team FC Helsingborg in 2003.

By 2013, Hans-Olov was a key in the formation of a "new" team in FC Helsingborg’s youth section, FC Helsingborg P07-Vit. Boys 2008-2007. Hans acted as a trainer and then team-coach, evolving the kids in floorball. He started initially as a fun thing to do, however eventually became the head-coach of the team with strategic goals for the team and each individual player and staff of 4-5 assistant coaches. "P07" team proved to be a top team in the area, and last year became the undisputable top team in the region, winning the regionals and also the HJ18 (up to 18 years old) series. During the summer of 2024, Hans-Olov decided to step back from his role as Head Coach.

“Hans-Olov’s experience in Swedish Floorball will be a huge benefit to our program” says Addington. Addington continues “Forsman will be an additional resource and strategic sounding board for Head Coach Derek Moser and his staff as we look to build upon the successes of the past couple of U19 cycles. We are delighted to have him as part of our team”.

Hans, 59, is originally from Helsingborg. After a 6 months break from coaching, Hans says “he is excited to work with Keene, Derek and the assistant coaches of the US Men’s U19 Team, and again have a close relationship with the sport of floorball”. 

Says Forsman “I’m hoping to be able to deliver some insights, experience, and to support Derek and his staff as best as I can.  The fun challenge of helping USA Floorball evolve, particularly at the Men’s Under 19 Team level, is one that I very much look forward to”.

Forsman’s philosophy has always been – “See the individual, evolve the team, have fun. Victories will then follow”.
