Renewal of USA Floorball Underway!

USA Floorball is entering an exciting period of renewal and growth. In order to meet the evolving needs of the expanding USA Floorball community, the organization is undergoing a structural transition. A temporary executive committee will oversee the association's operations, with the goal of fostering greater involvement and preparing for a new board election.

For many years, the current USA Floorball board has been comprised of a small group of dedicated individuals who have tirelessly supported the community. It is now time to broaden the association’s leadership and involve more members in shaping its future.

“The time has come to take USA Floorball in a new direction,” says USA Floorball President Calle Karlsson, who will be stepping down.

The newly formed executive committee will be chaired by Brian Radichel, former NTFA President and head of the competition committee. Radichel has been a long-time advocate and leader in USA Floorball, contributing at various levels of the sport. He will be joined by Darryl Gross, founder and owner of Floorball Planet, a key figure within the community, and Bryan Bagley, a long-time Colorado Springs member who recently took on the role of Men’s U19 Assistant General Manager.

The committee’s primary focus will be reviewing the bylaws, refining the association's structure, and defining roles and expectations. Additionally, the committee will work on foundational projects, including USOC membership, establishing a sustainable dues system, promoting financial transparency, and enhancing the website to provide easy access to player information and statistics from across the country.

To engage with the broader USA Floorball community, town hall-style webinars will be held to discuss the future of the organization. These meetings will address election procedures, voting rights, and frequency, while also tackling key questions such as “Why join?” and “What’s in it for me?” for both individual members and clubs.

The committee will seek input from clubs nationwide, including those in Fresno, NTFA, Colorado, Menlo, Chicago, Orlando Vikings, Austin, Minnesota, Southern California, NYC, Nashville, Birmingham, Triangle, Richmond and others. These discussions will be instrumental in facilitating the transition to a full membership election.

“We aim to bring in fresh energy and new ideas,” says Radichel. “There are numerous opportunities to grow the sport and the community in a collaborative and consistent way. We want as many people as possible to engage at the national level, and we look forward to seeing USA Floorball flourish across the country.”

One of the committee’s goals is to identify a location for a National Congress or Summit, tentatively scheduled for February. This event will not conflict with major tournaments like the Texas Open or the Golden Gate Cup and will serve as a significant step towards ensuring a smooth transition and reinforcing confidence in the leadership.

In the interim, regular events will continue as planned, including the Women’s World Floorball Championships Qualifier and the announcement of the next host of the U.S. Nationals. National teams will remain under the management of their respective General Managers.

“We deeply appreciate the efforts of the current board. We’re excited for new leadership to take on the responsibility they have shouldered for so long. We owe them our gratitude,” Radichel concluded.
