The U11 Boys team finished their season this past weekend in the Haldimand Erie Fastball League (HEFL) Championships.
After a great regular season where the Comets finish in 2nd place, they received a bye in the first round, and faced a very tough Fisherville team (the #3 seed) in their first game. The Comets came out right away with great hitting, strong pitching, and timely defence, beating Fisherville by a score of 12-9.
Caledonia's next game was against the St. George Spartans rep team, who had gone undefeated the entire season. Caledonia played amazing defence, and the Comets pitchers kept the game close, but unfortunately Caledonia lost 4-3.
The Comets once again had to face Fisherville, with a spot to the championship game on the line. Caledonia's offence exploded right from the beginning of the game, who mercied Fisherville in the first 3 innings, leading the Comets to a 15-11 victory over their Haldimand rivals and booking their spot in the Championship.
Caledonia was again facing the strong St. George Spartans team in the championship, but the Comets bats went to work again early, as they mercied St. George in the first inning.
The game was a back-and-forth match from that point, but unfortunately after playing 3 back-to-back games, the Comets lost a very close game 12-11.
Overall on the season in all their games, the U11 Boys went 11-6-2, including capturing "A" division bronze in the Ontario Rural Softball Association provincial tournament in late June.
Awesome season boys - see you all next year on the diamond!
