The AIHL would like to thank and congratulate fans on a record-setting attendance of 2,964 at the AIS Arena on 31
st May, between the Canberra Brave and the Adelaide Adrenaline.
It was the highest ever recorded attendance for a regular season game in AIHL history, in the Brave’s debut at their new home in the ACT which saw over 6000 people attend the facility over the two games at the weekend.
“We would like to thank all of our fans for making this a truly momentous occasion in the league’s history and a huge success for hockey in Australia,” AIHL Media Manager Stephen White said.
“Brave CEO Stephen Campbell and the Brave organisation are to be commended for taking the incredible financial and logistical risk to make this a reality. It’s the mountain of work done off of the ice, to not only get this up and running but also to maintain it, which most people never see and needs to be appreciated.”
“We still have a long road and many challenges ahead, but we have proof of concept now and there’s no reason we can’t achieve this in new, purpose-built facilities for all 9 of our other teams in their respective markets. We hope this also expedites the process for the new, proposed facility for the Brave in South Canberra.”
The Brave have 9 home games remaining at AIS Arena for the 2025 season and take on the Brisbane Lightning at AIS Arena this weekend.
