Vale Leeroy Petersen

The AIHL extends its condolences to the family of Leeroy Petersen, who tragically passed away on Wednesday 8^th October.

Petersen was heavily involved with the Canberra Brave and hockey in the nation’s capital, primarily through his business Caribou Kingston and sponsorship of players and the Brave organisation.

Tributes have flown in on social media from Canberra and across the AIHL.

Former Brave captain Casey Kubara, previously sponsored by Petersen, paid his respects on Instagram:

“Leeroy was truly one of a kind. He loved Ice Hockey and giving back to his community. He was generous and always brough out the best in everyone around him. His infectious smile and cheeky charm will be dearly missed.

Hockey in Australia will not be the same without him. His legacy will live on forever.”

“This is a tragic loss for the hockey community in the ACT and the AIHL. Leeroy’s energy and off-ice support of the Brave and the community in Canberra was outstanding and a big part of their continued success,” AIHL Media Manager Stephen White said.

A memorial service for Leeroy will be announced at a later date.
