CIHL
Championship Finals Preview: Chaiyi Sharks vs. The Taichung Lions
- Submitted by

Sure to be a match-up of youth and speed (Sharks) against experience and strength (Lions), fans will be treated to some intense playoff action in the first ever best-of-three CIHL Championship, and the first not featuring a team representing Taipei.

The Sharks will look to team-captain Zak Garofolo, gifted defenseman Steve Clark, and 3-time local player-of-the-year Kevin Yu, to develop offense out of transition and make the Sharks the first-ever multiple championship winners.

The Lions host a plethora of Taiwan hockey veterans such as Mark Paas, Robin Ripley and Steve Mossing, who will play a deliberate game in their quest to bring a championship to Taichung for the first time in CIHL history.

Tale of the Tape

Offense

Sharks

Centers around the always dangerous Clark, Garofolo, and Yu

Lions

Better depth, but lack flash and game- breakers

Advantage: EVEN

Defense

Sharks

Can stop anyone, but forwards lack defensive mindset

Lions

Strong, steady, and physical, but speed questionable

Advantage: EVEN
