The Annual Orillia Fastball Tournament took place this past weekend at Kitchener Park. This year’s tournament saw 14 teams from all over Ontario challenge for the tournament title. The c pool championship was captured by the Highland Elite of Fenelon Falls, ON by defeatingthe Chatsworth Express Jr’s 12 to 1. In the B pool The Lakes also from Fenelon Falls defeated the Grimsby Diamond Kings 3-1 in strong pitching duel between Grimsby’s Frank Cox and The Lakes pitcher Greg Garrity.
The A pool semi –finals saw the Uhthoff Nationals play the Dodgers. Down 1-0 in the 6th inning Uhthoff was able to force extra innings with an Andrew Balkwill solo homerun and took a 2-1 in the top half of extra innings. The Dodgers answered to tie the game in the bottom half and in the following inning and won on a Jordan Bennett RBI single. Rama Braves battled the Dundalk Smoke in the other semi-final game. Down 3-2 late Dundalk completed a comeback as they tied the game with a close play at home which ended with the benches clearing. Once play continued Dundalk added another run to win the game and advance to play the Dodgers in the championship game.
The combination of the Dodgers bats and the pitching of Caleb Keeshig was too much for Dundalk to handle in the championship game as the Dodgers cruised to a 9-3 victory to claim top prize.

Orillia District Fastball League play will continue Tuesday night as the Rama Braves and Reds face off in an Aboriginal Day game at 7pm at Rama’s Veterans Ballfield.
