The Orillia District Fastball League season is now entering its 3rd week and the Udney Storm (4-0-1) sitting atop the standings in first place with 8 points. Brechin Merchants (2-1-1) currently sit in 2nd place with 5 points while there is a four-way tie for 3rd place between the Dodgers (2-0-1), Rama Braves (2-0-2), Orillia Red Sox (2-0-2) and Port Perry Power (2-0-3) all with 4 points. Rama Reds (0-1-4) are in 7th place with 1 point. Orillia District Fastball League announced its 2015 individual award winners last week. Regular Season awards went to Norm Love (Udney Bullets) Rookie of the Year, Jon Cook (Orillia Red Sox) Max Simcoe Memorial Rising Star Award, Rod Savage (Rama Braves) catcher of the year, Joey Balkwill (Brechin Merchants) pitcher of the year and Vinny Shilling (Rama Braves) for the M.V.P. (Most Valuable Player). Rama Braves were the 2015 league champions defeating the Dodgers four games to one in the best of 7 games series last fall. Braves Pitcher Steve McNaughton took home the pitcher of the play-offs award and co-won the Play-off M.V.P. (Joe McIsaac Memorial Trophy) along with Braves Denny Benson. League play continues Tuesday night as the Udney Storm visit the Port Perry Power at 8:30pm in Port Perry. Locally at Rama’s Veterans Bellfield the Rama Braves face Orillia Red Sox at 7pm and the Dodgers battle against the Rama Reds at 8:45pm.
