Inline Hockey New Zealand  (IHNZ) is growing, and we are committed to strengthening our organisation with strong leadership, sound governance, and a positive sporting culture. We are looking for individuals who can help take the sport forward by contributing their expertise in governance, strategy, and organisational development.

Who we’re looking for:

  • People with experience in governance, leadership, finance, policy development, or culture change
  • Those committed to building a safe, inclusive, and professional sporting environment
  • Individuals who can bring fresh perspectives while working collaboratively with existing board members
  • Strong decision-makers who uphold ethical standards and best practices
An interest in sports is helpful but not essential—what matters most is a commitment to good governance and ensuring inline hockey continues to grow in a sustainable and athlete-focused way.
IHNZ Board Members act in a volunteer capacity and serve without remuneration or profit.

The Board aims to meet virtually on a monthly basis and as the board is geographically separated, the majority of work is via email or team meetings.  We envisage the work load to be approx. 6 hours per month.

Why Join the IHNZ Board?

While these roles are voluntary, serving on the IHNZ Board provides a range of personal and professional benefits, including:
  • Governance and Leadership Experience – Enhance your skills in strategic decision-making, financial oversight, and organisational governance.
  • Networking Opportunities – Connect with leaders in sport, business, and the wider community.
  • Making a Difference – Play a key role in shaping the future of inline hockey in New Zealand and supporting its growth at all levels.
  • Personal Development – Gain valuable experience in board dynamics, sports administration, and leadership in a national organisation.
  • Recognition and Contribution – Be part of a passionate team committed to fostering an inclusive and thriving sporting environment.
Board Member Selection Criteria
We are seeking dedicated individuals who can contribute to the growth and professionalism of inline hockey. While prior governance experience is valuable, we welcome candidates with diverse skills who are committed to strong leadership and ethical governance.
We will consider the following attributes:
Essential:
  • Integrity, ethical leadership, and a collaborative approach.
  • A commitment to fostering a professional and inclusive sporting environment.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to contribute constructively to board discussions and decision-making.
  • Cleared Police Vetting.
Desirable:
  • Experience in governance, leadership, or organisational development.
  • Knowledge of inline hockey or experience in community, sports, or not-for-profit organisations.
  • Skills in areas such as finance, law, marketing, or business management.
  • An understanding of risk management and conflict resolution.
Board members will play a key role in shaping the future of inline hockey. If you are interested in contributing your skills and experience, we’d love to hear from you.
Application.
Please submit a CV and cover letter detailing your governance and/or corporate experience to gm@inlinehockeynz.org.nz
