Glengarry News Cup
GAME 4 – SUNDAY SHOWDOWN
- Submitted by
The Maxville Highland Travellers were at the Sports Palace to see if they could get on the board with 2 points, but the Glens wanted it as much. Both teams battled hard to the end and split the two points with the 6-6 tie.   The Highlanders got on the score sheet early when Scott McMaster potted one just 1 minute 11 seconds into the game, however the Glens roared back with 3 goals in less than a 3 minute span with Tristan Sabourin at 12:19, Brad Massia at 10:13 and then Hannan Fraser at 9:57 to end that period up 3-1. In the second, the Glens again got on the sheet with a nice goal by Leo MacLean at 14:15 to go up 4-1, but could not hold back the Highlanders who got goals at 13:04 by Blake McDonell and at  2:03 by Adam St Denis to end the period with the score at 4-3 in the favor of the Glens. The third period saw a bit of see-saw action as the Highlanders tied it up on a goal by Scott McMaster at 11:02, then the go ahead goal at 9:38 by Adam St Denis. This wouldn’t last long as the Glens Alex Pritchard scored at 8:26 to make it even again and then get the go ahead goal on a power play by Leo MacLean at 5:28. With Brad McNabb out of the penalty box and now back to 5 on 5 hockey Brock Bissonette  tied it up once again at the 5:00 mark, and this would stick right to the end.   With all teams on the board now, things will tighten up and they’ll have to work on getting more of their roster players in the lineup to meet the 3 game minimum rule in for the playoff round.   Game 5 will see Maxville and the Loyalists in their first match up of the series. Many will predict that the young guns of the Loyalist will prove too much for the Highlanders, however if they play them hard as they did with the Glens, anything can happen. Certainly the place to be Saturday March 23rd will be the Char-Lan Rec Center where the puck drops at 7:30pm, and the gloves at…………………..??      .
