Glengarry News Cup
LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
The GLENGARRY NEWS CUP , after laying dormant for seven long years, and sixty five years after its inception, will once again take stage amongst the best hockey players within our County. Yes, seven years, that is how long the Cup has set on the trophy shelf in Williamstown’s Jack’s Pub, until recently when it was taken for repair and refurbishing so that it will be ready for its new heirs.
The very first contest dating back to 1948 was won by the Lancaster Rainbows, and the last held in 2006 was won by South Glengarry with many other teams such as the Maxville Millionaires, Williamstown Sports Club, Lancaster Dodgers, Alexandria Glens, Bainsville, Dalhousie,  Glengarry Juniors, Charlan Rebels, St Raphaels to name a few in between those dates.
One thing for sure, Glengarrian’s love their hockey, and hopefully this year’s event will provide enough great entertainment that the demand will be there for a repeat, for years to come. With both North and South Glengarry Townships behind us, and the participation of the Glengarry News, this event has the recipe for complete success.
Get ready, and come on out to enjoy our country’s hockey culture at its best!
