NEZRC Instructors:
Each year the NEZ appoints instructors that take at least 3 week ends out of their season to go out and instruct the zone clinics. These instructors take their knowledge and experience and pass it down to new officials, officials that are up and comers and even senior officials! The instructors take the opportunity every two years to attend the Leadership Conference to learn new rules and teaching techniques to ensure the officials are instructed the material in most effective way. The NEZ is proud to have 9 full time instructors. These instructors are listed below with a quick recap of their experience and what they have to offer.

Rob Anderson from Lloydminster is in his 5th year of instructing. Rob is a long time official and currently the Referee in Cheif for the zones largest community Lloydminster. Rob has a very busy job and always finds time to help out the younger officials. Rob has since slowed down his reffing career but continues to help out in many ways including RIC, assignor, etc. Rob in his hay day was found reffing all levels of minor hockey as well as senior, Jr. B and AJHL.

Derek Krys from Vermilion is in his first year of instructing. Derek is our youngest instructor but still has many years of experience as an official. He also played many years through minor hockey and even Junior B and Senior in Vermilion. In his playing day, he was usually found in the penaly box so he has a very good understanding of ALL the rules now! Derek is always eager to help other officials and is a great addition to our instructor team.

Craig Morrow is from Cold Lake and this is his first year instructing. Craig has been officiating for many years and is very excited to give back to the younger generation. Craig officiates all levels of hockey in the North East Zone.

Mike McGregor is also from Cold Lake and is in his first year of instructing and really enjoying it. Mike has taken the intiative to give back to the Northeast zone by becoming an executive on the Northeast Zone Board as well as instructing. Mike officiates all levels of minor hockey as well as senior and jr. b.

Scott Walker from Wainwright is in his 5th year of instructing. Scott has been instrumental in officiating programs no matter where he has been whether it is in Saskatchewan, Wainwright or anywhere in between. Scott currently officiates senior and jr. b, as well as all minor hockey levels and loves helping out the younger and new officials.

Mark Woytkiw is a long time official and instructor from Elk Point. Mark is the provincial development coordinator for Hockey Alberta Referee's Division and is instrumental in the development of young officials throughout the provinice. Mark has met many NHL officials and his stories are endless and very intriguing. Mark contininues to help out the younger officials and has officiated as high as senior, jr. b, ACAC and AJHL. Mark has also officiated the telus cup.

Dion Pollard is along time official and instructor from Vermilion. Up until last season Dion was one of the few Level 6 officials in the province and has officiated numerous provincial and national events such as Allan Cups, Royal Bank Cup's, World Junior A Challenge, and University Hockey among many others. Dion has since took a step back from officiating at that high of level and that has helped him invest more time with his family and instructor and helping young referees.
