IHNZ Skate of Origin – Junior Event 2025

An Exciting Opportunity for Youth Players Across New Zealand

Inline Hockey New Zealand (IHNZ) is proud to present the 2025 Skate of Origin Junior Event – a showcase of youth talent and the spirit of regional pride.

This highlight on the national inline hockey calendar gives our young athletes the chance to represent their region, develop their game, and compete at the highest level against their peers from across the country.

Eligibility – Teams & Clubs

Player Registration:
All players must hold current IHNZ registration within the region they are representing.

• Team Officials:
  Coaches, managers, and team staff must also be registered with IHNZ to participate.

• Age Grades:
  Player eligibility is determined by age as of January 1, 2025.

Grades Offered:
To ensure fair and exciting competition for all participants, IHNZ will host two divisions at the Junior event:

• Championship Division (Div 1)
• Plate Division (Div 2)

Please note: If entries in a division are too low, grades may be merged or removed at IHNZ’s discretion.

Junior Divisions (2025)

• 10U
• 12U
• 14U
• 16/18U
• Junior Women (14/16U)
• Youth Women (10/12U)

Key Participation Rules

• Players may trial for multiple teams.
• Final team placement will be agreed upon by the coach,  and  regional selectors.
• Players must compete only in their eligible age grade for 2025.

The Junior Skate of Origin is more than a competition – it provides young players with:

• Pathways to development in both competitive and representative hockey.
• Opportunities for female athletes, with dedicated Junior and Youth Women grades.
• A chance to represent their region with pride.
• The thrill of participating in one of New Zealand’s premier youth inline hockey events

Next Steps

Regions are encouraged to spread this information to all players in the eligible age grades  as soon as possible.
There is an EXPRESSION OF INTEREST form to indicate interest. Teams will be organised by their own regions.
