The Final of the IPGA Match Play Championship was played on Monday, October 1st at Vernon Golf and Country Club, between Greg Machtaler of Summerland versus Stephen Connor from Tobiano.

Connor came out hot, making birdies on #2, 3 and 6, playing great golf and leading most of the match. Machtaler was also playing well and was not giving up. Connor led by 3 going to the 15th hole. The wind was blowing hard making it tough on both players. A Machtaler birdie on #15, followed by Connor bogeys on #17 and #18 put the match all square through 18 holes. On the second playoff hole, the par 5 2nd, Machtaler put his wedge shot within a few feet of the hole and cooly rolled it in to complete the comeback and capture the title, and the $700 winners cheque. Congratulations to both players for their great seasons and performances in the Match Play Championship.
