Game Score Reporting Procedures

Game Score Reporting Procedures

For the 2025 field hockey season we have developed a more simplistic game score procedure for teams to report their field hockey game scores.

From either your computer or smartphone, click on this link:  https://forms.gle/LZuYqUDuiNCFvKBc8

You will be presented with a Google Form where you will fill in all the required details associated with your field hockey game. You will also receive a reply email showing you exactly what was submitted. Game results will be posted within twenty-four (24) hours of receiving the final game score and can be viewed at:   www.bcfieldhockey.com

Game Cancellation Fine

Just a reminder to teams that if you are unable to field a team for a regularly scheduled game, you must provide (72) hours advance notice to the opposing team, otherwise a $50 fine will be levied against your Club.

You are allowed to bring up players from a younger age group to help supplement your team, if required.

Arriving To Games On Time

Arriving To Games On Time

Traffic volume in the Lower Mainland has increased over the years, therefore it has become more important for teams to ensure they provide enough time to arrive at the field prior to the scheduled start time.

Most fields now have a practice pitch to allow for teams to warm up in advance of the game. Teams should take advantage of this by arriving to their game early.

Maximum (7) Goal Difference Rule

Maximum (7) Goal Difference Rule

Just a reminder to all coaches of the (7) goal difference ruling.

This league is for development purposes, and that “running up” game scores should not occur. If the final game score difference is (8) goals or more, the winning team will forfeit the game and it will be recorded as a 3-0 loss. Note, both teams are reporting the final game score.

There are a few things you can do to avoid running up a score verses a weaker developing team. The two main points are:

1. Encourage players to play possession game, with distribution of the ball
2. Play defenders on the forward line and forwards on the defense lines.

Finally, a great deal of time and effort was placed at the beginning of the season to ensure parity within the divisions so that teams were assigned to the correct Tiers. We will continue to monitor this throughout the season to ensure all games are as competitive as possible.

Have a great season,
GVJFHL
