Merritt Centennials
CENTS PREGAME - Centennials roll into Kal Tire Place against Vipers TONIGHT
- Submitted by
Once again, the Merritt Centennials are off to Kal Tire Place for a date with the Vernon Vipers. Puck Drop is at 7pm, Pre Game begins on Q101 at 6:45pm.
This is the fifth matchup of the year against these Interior Division rivals, with Vernon currently taking the series four games to one. Merritt's lone win against Vernon this season came on November 10th, a 4-1 victory in Kal Tire Place.
The Cents are coming off three losses in as many days during last weekend's road trip, dropping close contests to some top competition in the BCHL. The Cents were competitive in all three games, especially in the 3rd periods, but were unable to wrestle points away from the Nanaimo Clippers, Powell River Kings, or Chilliwack Chiefs.
The Vipers will be without top forward Liam Findlay, who is currently suiting up for Team Canada West in the World Jr A Challenge. Findlay has been a Cents Killer this year, registering 7 points in 4 games.
The Cents have had success against Vernon on their powerplay matchups. In 4 games this year the Cents have scored 5 times on 19 advantages against the Vipers, scoring on 26 per cent of their chances. This is above their league average of 19.6 per cent.
Coming into tonight's matchup, defenseman Michael Faulkner is riding a 3 game assist streak that he's hoping to extend. Gavin Gould leads the boys from Merritt in points with 41, while Vipers leading scorer Odeen Tufto has 38 on the year.

Puck Drop is at 7pm, pre game begins at 6:45 on Q101.
