This is a great opportunity to gather and tell stories of all the great goals you scored last year or the one time you missed the open net to seal the deal !
Please invite all current players, past players, spares and guys who want to start sparing in Roha , it’s a great opportunity to meet all the boys !!
You can enter a foursome or as a single and I will put you on a team
Como is the only club that will allow us a shotgun start. They have a very strict alcohol policy. Please DO NOT bring outside booze on the course. DO NOT sneak in a cooler full of beer. We will get kicked off the course and will not be welcomed back. Kris McKeown has graciously organized the golf for us and we need to follow the rules
Please contact Jay Oland to confirm your attendance

We are also looking for prizes for the event !!
So if anyone has something they would like to donate to the cause it would be greatly appreciated !!
Let’s make this the a huge success to kick off the ROHA season 2022-2023 season
We will then have a draft on the weekend of Sept 19th and start fresh with new teams for the 2020-2021 season on September 23rd.
We will be playing with 4 teams and 14 players on each team like all other seasons. Due to Covid-19 we will have to practice social distancing as much as possible.
1. You can arrive 20 minutes before game time. Not before. 2. You must arrive wearing a mask at the front door of the arena where we usually enter the building. You can take off your mask when you enter your dressing room. 3. You will exit out of another door which the arena will show us on our first night. 4. There will be 3 dressing rooms for each game. No more than 10 players in one dressing room. The first 10 players who arrive for each team will go to there respective team dressing room. The last 4 players to arrive for each team will go to a common dressing room with the last 4 players from the other team. 5. After the game there will be 2 showers available per team. We must respect social distancing in the shower. 6. There will be no team water bottles. If you want water you must bring your own water bottle. 7. There will be no sharing of chips or popcorn after the game. Again if you want a snack, bring your own. 8. There will be a bottle of disinfectant when you enter the room. Please wash your hands when you arrive. 9. We can have beer and rum carts in the rooms. We ask players to get their own beer from the cooler and not have one guy passing them out. 10. We can stay to watch the 2nd game, but we have to wear masks and social distance. We will find out more about where we can watch the game on our first night. 11. At the end of each bench in the arena, there will be a rubber pad to sit on and one for your skates so that you don’t scratch the blades. We ask that one of the players coming off of the ice please take that seat. I know it is a bit of a piss off but we have to do this to practice social distancing as much as possible on the bench. This is our most difficult part as we play with 3 lines.
We may have to adjust some rules once we get underway, as this is new to everyone. Bourget has been very gracious considering the rules that some other leagues have been given. Once other leagues see what we have, they are going to be waiting for us to screw up. We can’t let that happen. We need to be smart about this and closely follow the protocol that we have been given. If we can’t, then we will be given a warning. If we screw up again, we will be shut down. If certain guys can’t follow our rules, they will be warned. Repeat offenders will be suspended and then tossed from the league if necessary. Let’s not let that happen.
The fees for the upcoming season will be $600. We would like to get $300 from each player the first night. The balance can be paid by January 1st or before.
If for any reason you decide not to play this year, there will be no questions asked and you will have your spot back next year. If you decide part way through the season, as thing change, that you want to play, you will play as a spare until next year. Each player has a credit of $75 from last year. That is why the dues are only $600 this year. If you decide not to play this year, you forfeit that credit as we have already paid the refs, scorekeeper and arena.
I MUST have an answer by Thursday, August 20th if you are in or out for the upcoming year. This way we can fit in spares as needed for the playoffs.
If for any reason you do not feel well, please let us know and we will get a spare for you. Please do not come to the rink if you have any of the Covid-19 symptoms. If you test positive for Covid-19 at any time please contact Brian Penny at 514-863-1902 and we will go from there.
We have to be smart guys. We are finally getting to play some puck. Let’s all stay safe and have a great year.
BP
If the rink closes for an unforeseen amount of time , we will call it a year. If the rink opens at the end of April, then we will see if we can get some ice time. Perhaps 2 nights. We leave the standings as they are now in the playoffs and play a semi final and then a final. 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3 and then the 2 winners meet in the final.
Once we find out more in a couple of weeks we will make a decision. I wish I knew more but like all other things now, it just is what it is.
Hopefully we can have a year end party to wrap things up no matter what happens. Paul Lajoie has offered to host a party at Annie’s. ROHA can work on the transportation there and back. Would be a great way to end the year. Not sure at this point whether we will crown a champion this year or not. Either way there will probably be an asterisks. Lol
Stay safe everyone
Apparently he died of affictiation in a car on his property on Bellevue in Hudson a few days ago. I understand that it was a sad accident and in no way intentional.
He probably would have been at our game tonight if a lot of things were different right now. Anyways ,it is a sad story. Many guys asked me, over the years, who the heck is this guy and why is he here. I never had that answer but he sure liked coming to watch our games.
RIP Robert. RIP to our fan.
We will keep you posted with any new developments
Congratulations to Peter Thompson on winning his 2nd scoring title in ROHA. It was a great race at the top with 6 guys finishing within 4 points of the top. Definitely the tightest race ever. Also Congratulations to Claude Brabant on winning yet another Vezina trophy with the best GAA in the league this year. A shout to Al Smith who played 24 out of 26 games. The most of any goalie.
Unfortunately we had a couple of records broken for futility this year as well. Red broke the record for most goals against with 185. The previous record was Red last year with 167 goals against. Red also broke the record for least points in a season with 14 total pts. The previous record was again Red from last year with 18pts. Red also tied the ROHA record set by a couple of other teams with the most losses in a season by a team with 19.
We have seen 4th place teams win the championship on more than one occasion so don't count anyone out this year. Thanks for a great year with fewer penalties than most years and no fights to speak of all year. Lets try to carry this through the playoffs. Have fun and good luck to all players.
With just 2 games remaining in the regular season, all Blue has to do is win one of their remaining 2 games to clinch 1st place. White would need only one win to clinch 2nd place. The standings should be clearer next week.
Good luck to all in the playoffs. Red have been very close in a lot of games down the stretch, until Goldy takes his usual late game penalty and then they get a power play goal scored against them to lose. If they can fix that (doubtful) they have as much of a chance to win as the other 3 teams that are all pretty close in total points.
This years Christmas party will be held at the Chateau du Lac in Hudson on Wed Dec 18th. As usual both games are will be one hour long. The late game starts at 9:30. Journey Freight will be supplying the food and Stu from LeBaron Bites will add his touch and set it all up for us. There will be drink specials and an Uber if anyone needs a ride home. All spares are very welcome to attend whether they play that night or not. Hope to see everyone there.
We have decided not to play a regular season game on Thursday Dec 26th. Christmas falls on Wed this year so we were given Thurs Dec 26th to play. The ice is ours so if anyone wants to come out for a pickup game they are welcome to play. You can bring your kids or a friend if you like. It is not going to be organized by ROHA so let’s talk about it over the next couple of weeks. The game on Jan 2nd will be played as per the schedule. Same teams same times as per the schedule.
Al Smith is collecting any donations for the 14 families that he helps at Christmas. No donation is too small. Please give any donation to Al or your coach. There is no obligation. If you can do it, then do it.
Great season so far. Keep it going guys. Hope to see you at the Christmas party.
Our annual Golf day and draft will be held on Monday August 26th. Jay Oland has volunteered to run the day and we will have a location and game plan within a couple of weeks. Mark the date on your calendar.
The 1st game of our 24th year will be Wednesday, August 28th at the all new Rigaud Arena, complete with new boards, new glass and a brand new Zamboni. All those old trick bounce plays from the Zamboni corner will have to be relooked at by even the oldest veterans.
Hope you have a great summer and please watch this site for more information as it comes up.

Mark Bertrand has offered to host this years party at his house for the second year in a row. Much appreciated Marc. Greg Haney has booked Traiteur Marc Besner for a great smoked pork and chicken dinner. This in the same group that we hired 20 years ago at the Community Center in Hudson for one of the best meals that we have ever had. We would like to invite all players, spares and Tuesday night (ROHA light) players and all wives, boyfriends and significant others for a great night to wrap up our 23rd year.
Cocktails at 6PM. Dinner at 7PM. Trophies at 8:30PM. Party till..........
It is a BYOB and a $10 per person cover for the food. ROHA will kick in the rest. Not a bad deal for an all you can eat meal at one of Hudson's best party palaces.
Shane Halfyard will provide the music and ROHA will provide the bartenders and make sure that there is enough booze to go around in case anyone runs short.
We all sign up with the same goal at the beginning of each year. Have some fun and win a championship. Some of us have better seasons than others. At our age you never know when that will be. It's always great to celebrate the players that have had great seasons. Come on out and celebrate this year with the guys you hang out with every Wednesday night all winter.
Hope to see you all there. Norm will send out an email to all players. Please let him know who is attending so that we can get an approximate head count.
Congratulations to all the guys that won awards and to everyone that showed up. A great turnout as the night went on. I am sure 3/4 of the league was there at some time during the evening.
Thanks to Jay Oland for the limo.
ROHA can’t thank Marc and Sabrina enough for opening up their home to all the guys and their better halves for a great night.
Thanks again and see ya next year
Also, I ask all players to make a donation to this cause - monies can be given to your captain or to me directly. The funds will be sent to the Broncos GoFundMe page.
Your cooperation is appreciated. #prayersforhumboldt
I will do my very best to make this as clear as mud.
Tie Breakers
1. most points - round robin 2. most wins - round robin 3. team vs. team - round robin 4. goal spread - round robin all teams
Wednesday April 11th: Red vs Blue and White vs Black
White: If White wins or ties they advance directly to the final. If White loses and Blue wins, Blue will advance directly to the final with a better record against White in the round robin
Blue: If Blue win and White lose, Blue advance directly to the final. If Blue loses and Black and Red win, Blue is out If Blue Ties and Black win, Black and Blue advance to the semi final and Red is out
Red: If Red win they advance to the semi final If Red ties and Black ties it will come down to total goals for and against in the round robin between all teams If Red and Black both lose it will come down to total goals for and against in the round robin between all teams
Black: If Black wins they advance to the semi final If Black and Red both tie or both lose then it will come down to goals for and against in the round robin between all teams.
Best scenario for all teams is to win next week. It is great to see things so close and everything coming down to the last week. Good luck to all and please keep it clean.
Congratulations to the Blue team for winning the regular season. Rookie captain Steve Wiggins drafted a great team and they are definitely the team to beat in the playoffs this year. Congratulations to Johnny Coutts for winning the scoring championship this year and congratulations to his line mates Chris Marsh and Jay Oland for great seasons as well. John could not have done this without you guys. Congratulations to Claude Brabant for winning his 6th Vezina this year. Another outstanding year.
And from the Executive to all of the players and spares, thanks for a great year. The individual scoring was a lot more spread out this year. Their were a lot more players touching the puck. There were half the penalties of other years. The complaining and whining is gone and with that comes a better game for everyone. I can not tell you how many players have told me this year how much fun it is to come to the rink. I am definitely one of those guys. We have used 40 different spares over the year and some of these guys will become regulars in the next year or 2. We look forward to having them join ROHA.
It is any teams game in the playoffs this year so bring your game and lets get at it.
The party will be on Wednesday, December 20th after the 2nd game at the Chateau du Lac in Hudson. There will be lots of food for everyone and rides home if you need one.
The party is open to all regular players and all spares, whether you play that night or not. Journey Freight and Lebaron Bites will be supplying and preparing the food this year. Food will be served from 11;30 on.
Just a reminder that games are from 8:30 to 9:30 and 9:30 to 10:30 this night only.
Hope to see you all there. It is usually a great turnout so don't miss this one
