1. Most points (round robin)
2. Most wins (round robin)
3. Team vs. team (round robin)
4. Goal spread (round robin, all teams)
5. Team vs. team (league play)
6. Goal spread, team vs. team (league play)

Good luck the rest of the way.

ROHA Annual Christmas party

ROHA Annual Christmas party

Hey boys. So far so good in ROHA this year. I still can’t believe that Red has actually lost a game, but they have actually lost 3, so I guess we all still have a chance. The annual ROHA Christmas party will be Wednesday December 14rh. The party will be held at the Château du Lac and will be catered by the Main Kitchen. There will be a ton of food. The Main catered our softball party this fall and it was fantastic All players and spares are welcome. The games will only be 1 hour long. Games start at 8:30 and 9:30. Please bring a non perishable food item so that we can make a donation from the league to the families that Al Smith sponsors. We have contributed to Al’s families for many years and it really makes a difference. There will be a box at the Château to drop off any items that you would like to donate. Hope to see you all the

FEBRUARY 14TH STARTUP.

FEBRUARY 14TH STARTUP.

Great new!!! We are back on our skates next Wednesday, February 16th. I know it is Valentines Day week, but trust me your wives and boyfriends are going to be happy to get you out of the house. The schedule will continue from Feb 16th and on through the playoffs. The schedule will not be extended. Good luck. Get your skates sharpened and see you next Wednesday.

RETURN TO HOCKEY??

RETURN TO HOCKEY??

Hope everyone is staying safe. At this time we don't really know when we will be back on the ice. Hopefully it will be in the next couple of weeks. When we return, we will play out the season from that point on and then the playoffs after that. We will not be extending the season. The game times will be as per the schedule. We will not be changing the schedule. As far as dues goes, for each week that we will miss we will take $20 off of each players dues. If we miss 5 weeks, everyone will pay $100 less, as an example. Once we are back we would like all of the players to pay up in full. If you are not sure what that amount is, I will let you know once we are back. No point in figuring all that out until we know how many games we will all miss. Hope to see you all soon. Get outdoors and keep in shape, because the playoffs start in 5 weeks.

HERE WE GO AGAIN

HERE WE GO AGAIN

The schedule is now up for the 2021-2022 season on our website. The draft will be Tuesday August 24th and we will announce the teams to the 3 or 4 guys that have not found out what team they are on by that time, at the Golf Tournament on August 30th. We will be going with retro sweaters this year until I am able to get all the sweaters back from last year. We are off to a good start as I have 7 so far. Please either drop them off at my house or bring them to the golf tournament or the 1st game. Once I have them all back we will swap out for the newer ones if the teams want to. Looking forward to a great year. hope to see you all at the golf tournament.

FOLLOW UP ON TEXT TO EACH PLAYER

FOLLOW UP ON TEXT TO EACH PLAYER

I have texted all of the players in ROHA to find out your intentions as to whether you are going to play in ROHA in this coming season. Please get back to me as soon as you can with your answer. Once we have all of the feedback we will contact any new players that will join the league full time. We are waiting for the final decision from Bourget and the Quebec Government on their protocol for Covid and will follow their lead. We hope to have that information soon. Also included in the text is the information on our golf tournament on Monday August 30th. Please contact Jay Oland if you are interested in playing.

2021-2022 UPDATE

2021-2022 UPDATE

Nice to finally see summer here. We had a quick Exec meeting just to touch base with everyone. The first item that we discussed was the Covid vaccine. All players and spares will have to have had at least your first vaccine to be eligible for the draft and to play in ROHA this year. We felt that we were going to lose more players than would not play if everyone does not have the vaccine. And we all felt it is the right thing to do. That is a final decision. We will decide throughout the summer the best way for each player to show the proof of vaccine and we will get back to you on this subject once we have decided. So don't procrastinate and go get your shot please. The last thing we want is to lose a player because of this. We will be redrafting the teams for 2021-2022. With players coming back or not coming back we felt it would be too difficult to balance the teams from last year. Most guys probably don't remember which team they were on anyways. All 4 captains have agreed to come back for another year. Thanks for that. I would ask that if you could all drop your sweaters off at my place. (36 Appleglen in Hudson) at some point, that would be helpful. I will be sending out a letter in the next couple of weeks asking if you are in or out. I will include the dues in that letter as we are just waiting on the arena and refs to get back to us on that. Not to worry, they should be the same or very close to last year. Jay Oland has volunteered to organize a golf tournament where we will unveil the teams. No date set but we will know very soon so that you can mark the date on your calendar. As soon as the arena lets us know about any August ice time I will let everyone know as well. It would be great to get a couple of skates in before the season starts . Have a great summer

ROHA 2021-2022

ROHA 2021-2022

This is just a quick update on where we stand for next year, ROHA 2021-2022. We have reserved the same ice time that we have had for the past 25 years. Wednesday night from 8:30 to 11:30. Once the contract is ready we will sign it. It looks like a go in September. I do not have the exact dates yet but this is what I am being told by Bourget. The arena is shut for both June and July for renovations. We will have a new locker room for next year, otherwise everything will be the same for us. If the arena is able to open in August, I have asked for some ice time to be made available to us. At this point I have no idea what hours will be offered, but it would be nice to get a couple of skates in before our season officially starts. I will keep everyone updated when I get any new news. Stay safe and have a great summer.

Christmas Donations

Christmas Donations

Merry Christmas everyone. As best that it can be. Every year Al Smith collects money from all of us, for families that don't have a Christmas meal or any presents under the tree. These families all live in the Hudson and St Lazare area. Marc Emond and I spoke with Al, and he has given us his email address. (allan.smith@concordia.ca). If you would like to help these families out this Christmas please feel free to send an e-transfer to Al. It can be any amount that you want. It will all help. ROHA will throw in $100 to help out like we do every year. Thanks in advance to all of you that are able to contribute. And thankyou Al for doing this again this year.

2020-2021 Season update

2020-2021 Season update

I hope everyone is well. We have met with Bourget Arena and we have met with our 4 Captains and the League Exec concerning our up coming season. We have the OK to start up on Wednesday, September 2nd. As per our vote earlier in the summer, we will play an Exhibition game on September 2nd. (White vs Blue at 8:30 and Black vs Red at 10:00). On September 9th we will play our semi final from last year. Blue vs Red at 8:30 and White vs Black at 10:00. (1st vs 4th and 2nd vs 3rd from last year final standings in the regular season). On September 16th at 8:30 the winners of the semi final will play for the league championship from last year. Unfinished business.

We will then have a draft on the weekend of Sept 19th and start fresh with new teams for the 2020-2021 season on September 23rd.

We will be playing with 4 teams and 14 players on each team like all other seasons. Due to Covid-19 we will have to practice social distancing as much as possible.

1. You can arrive 20 minutes before game time. Not before. 2. You must arrive wearing a mask at the front door of the arena where we usually enter the building. You can take off your mask when you enter your dressing room. 3. You will exit out of another door which the arena will show us on our first night. 4. There will be 3 dressing rooms for each game. No more than 10 players in one dressing room. The first 10 players who arrive for each team will go to there respective team dressing room. The last 4 players to arrive for each team will go to a common dressing room with the last 4 players from the other team. 5. After the game there will be 2 showers available per team. We must respect social distancing in the shower. 6. There will be no team water bottles. If you want water you must bring your own water bottle. 7. There will be no sharing of chips or popcorn after the game. Again if you want a snack, bring your own. 8. There will be a bottle of disinfectant when you enter the room. Please wash your hands when you arrive. 9. We can have beer and rum carts in the rooms. We ask players to get their own beer from the cooler and not have one guy passing them out. 10. We can stay to watch the 2nd game, but we have to wear masks and social distance. We will find out more about where we can watch the game on our first night. 11. At the end of each bench in the arena, there will be a rubber pad to sit on and one for your skates so that you don’t scratch the blades. We ask that one of the players coming off of the ice please take that seat. I know it is a bit of a piss off but we have to do this to practice social distancing as much as possible on the bench. This is our most difficult part as we play with 3 lines.

We may have to adjust some rules once we get underway, as this is new to everyone. Bourget has been very gracious considering the rules that some other leagues have been given. Once other leagues see what we have, they are going to be waiting for us to screw up. We can’t let that happen. We need to be smart about this and closely follow the protocol that we have been given. If we can’t, then we will be given a warning. If we screw up again, we will be shut down. If certain guys can’t follow our rules, they will be warned. Repeat offenders will be suspended and then tossed from the league if necessary. Let’s not let that happen.

The fees for the upcoming season will be $600. We would like to get $300 from each player the first night. The balance can be paid by January 1st or before.

If for any reason you decide not to play this year, there will be no questions asked and you will have your spot back next year. If you decide part way through the season, as thing change, that you want to play, you will play as a spare until next year. Each player has a credit of $75 from last year. That is why the dues are only $600 this year. If you decide not to play this year, you forfeit that credit as we have already paid the refs, scorekeeper and arena.

I MUST have an answer by Thursday, August 20th if you are in or out for the upcoming year. This way we can fit in spares as needed for the playoffs.

If for any reason you do not feel well, please let us know and we will get a spare for you. Please do not come to the rink if you have any of the Covid-19 symptoms. If you test positive for Covid-19 at any time please contact Brian Penny at 514-863-1902 and we will go from there.

We have to be smart guys. We are finally getting to play some puck. Let’s all stay safe and have a great year.

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

Coronavirus update. I have spoken with Daniel Chevrier, who is our go to guy at the Bourget Arena. The arena will be closed for the next 2 weeks. At that time they will let us know when they will be able to open. That will probably take us to the end of our playoffs more or less. I think that is probably about what we all expected giving all of the closures that the government has implicated. To say our season is over would be a tough pill to swallow but maybe not our choice. We will wait to see when the barn will open but here are a couple of our options at this point.

If the rink closes for an unforeseen amount of time , we will call it a year. If the rink opens at the end of April, then we will see if we can get some ice time. Perhaps 2 nights. We leave the standings as they are now in the playoffs and play a semi final and then a final. 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3 and then the 2 winners meet in the final.

Once we find out more in a couple of weeks we will make a decision. I wish I knew more but like all other things now, it just is what it is.

Hopefully we can have a year end party to wrap things up no matter what happens. Paul Lajoie has offered to host a party at Annie’s. ROHA can work on the transportation there and back. Would be a great way to end the year. Not sure at this point whether we will crown a champion this year or not. Either way there will probably be an asterisks. Lol

Stay safe everyone

OUR FAN PASSED AWAY

OUR FAN PASSED AWAY

Some sad news to pass along. Our "fan", Robert Saunders has passed away. He attended more ROHA games than any other fan that we ever had. He was a very interesting guy. Great friend of Andrew Marsh and Dr. Tim Lawson. He hung out at the barn watching our games on many Wednesday nights for the last 15 years or so. Often the only guy in the stands. He loved hanging around the hallways and dressing rooms after the games. He stopped me many times in the hallway to inquire about our stats and always had an opinion about suspensions, refs, and the makeup of the teams. He followed our stats on our website for many years.

Apparently he died of affictiation in a car on his property on Bellevue in Hudson a few days ago. I understand that it was a sad accident and in no way intentional.

He probably would have been at our game tonight if a lot of things were different right now. Anyways ,it is a sad story. Many guys asked me, over the years, who the heck is this guy and why is he here. I never had that answer but he sure liked coming to watch our games.

RIP Robert. RIP to our fan.

PLAYOFF UPDATE

PLAYOFF UPDATE

Seems like a daily update now. I was finally able to contact Daniel Chevrier from the Bourget arena today. He has been in the hospital resting from an operation. He is ok and it is unrelated to the Caronavirus. The barn will officially be closed until March 30th. At that time they will take a decision as to when they will reopen. I will be in touch with Daniel at that time. So for now, ROHA is shut down for the next 2 weeks. We will make a call after that about the remainder of our season. Maybe we can get an extension for the balance of the season, maybe we can have a semi final and then a final or maybe we will be forced to shut down for the year. No one knows right now. I will keep you posted. Please stay safe

ROHA SHUTDOWN THIS WEEK

ROHA SHUTDOWN THIS WEEK

The times are changing quickly. ROHA has decided to shut down this week. We are not sure that the rink will be open this week. We will go week by week and will keep everyone updated as we receive new information. We realize that there are mixed opinions on this but we are going to follow the rules put forth from our government. Really at this stage not much we can do. Thanks for understanding

ROHA PLAYOFFS UPDATE

ROHA PLAYOFFS UPDATE

Heys guys. We have been in touch with the Bourget Arena and as of now, we are still on for this Wed night. We understand that playing or not playing through Covid-19 is a very personal issue. Whether you choose to play or not is up to you. No one will be judged by this. The refs are ok with it just to let you know. We would ask that all players get in touch with their captains about their availability for this week. If things change we will abide by the rules that the government put out there. For now we are a goT

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

With the onset of the Coronavirus and the various suspended schedules of the NHL and other professional leagues, ROHA has had to take some tough decisions as an Executive Committee. For now we will continue to play our playoff games but with no fans.

We will keep you posted with any new developments

THE PLAYOFFS ARE HERE

THE PLAYOFFS ARE HERE

The playoffs, the real season, starts this week. The schedule is up on our web site.

Congratulations to Peter Thompson on winning his 2nd scoring title in ROHA. It was a great race at the top with 6 guys finishing within 4 points of the top. Definitely the tightest race ever. Also Congratulations to Claude Brabant on winning yet another Vezina trophy with the best GAA in the league this year. A shout to Al Smith who played 24 out of 26 games. The most of any goalie.

Unfortunately we had a couple of records broken for futility this year as well. Red broke the record for most goals against with 185. The previous record was Red last year with 167 goals against. Red also broke the record for least points in a season with 14 total pts. The previous record was again Red from last year with 18pts. Red also tied the ROHA record set by a couple of other teams with the most losses in a season by a team with 19.

We have seen 4th place teams win the championship on more than one occasion so don't count anyone out this year. Thanks for a great year with fewer penalties than most years and no fights to speak of all year. Lets try to carry this through the playoffs. Have fun and good luck to all players.

Tiebreaker update

Tiebreaker update

As the playoffs approach, I figured it would be a good time to update the tiebreaker situation just in case we need it. The 1st tie breaker is total points. The 2nd tie breaker is most wins. The 3rd tie breaker is team vs team in the regular season. The 4th tie breaker is goal spread against all teams for the entire season.

With just 2 games remaining in the regular season, all Blue has to do is win one of their remaining 2 games to clinch 1st place. White would need only one win to clinch 2nd place. The standings should be clearer next week.

Good luck to all in the playoffs. Red have been very close in a lot of games down the stretch, until Goldy takes his usual late game penalty and then they get a power play goal scored against them to lose. If they can fix that (doubtful) they have as much of a chance to win as the other 3 teams that are all pretty close in total points.

Thanks Al and Dom

Thanks Al and Dom

Al Smith wanted me to let all of you know that he received $2210 from all the guys from ROHA that will be donated to the families that he helps out at Christmas in our area. Amazing contribution from all of us and thanks Al for what you do to help so many people at this special time of the year. We would also like to thank Dom for all of the gifts that he donated to the ROHA Christmas party for the raffle. All of the money from the raffle also goes to help out Al's families. Both of you guys do this every year and we can't say thanks enough. You are both pillars of the ROHA community. Thanks for all that you do.

ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY

ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY

Hey les boys. Just touching base on a couple of things. Tight standings so far this year. Always a good thing. Only a 2 game winning streak between 1st and 3rd and Red are coming on. Basically .500 in their last 10 games and 3 wins out of 2nd with half of the season to go.

This years Christmas party will be held at the Chateau du Lac in Hudson on Wed Dec 18th. As usual both games are will be one hour long. The late game starts at 9:30. Journey Freight will be supplying the food and Stu from LeBaron Bites will add his touch and set it all up for us. There will be drink specials and an Uber if anyone needs a ride home. All spares are very welcome to attend whether they play that night or not. Hope to see everyone there.

We have decided not to play a regular season game on Thursday Dec 26th. Christmas falls on Wed this year so we were given Thurs Dec 26th to play. The ice is ours so if anyone wants to come out for a pickup game they are welcome to play. You can bring your kids or a friend if you like. It is not going to be organized by ROHA so let’s talk about it over the next couple of weeks. The game on Jan 2nd will be played as per the schedule. Same teams same times as per the schedule.

Al Smith is collecting any donations for the 14 families that he helps at Christmas. No donation is too small. Please give any donation to Al or your coach. There is no obligation. If you can do it, then do it.

Great season so far. Keep it going guys. Hope to see you at the Christmas party.

Missing sticks

Missing sticks

To everyone. If you have taken the wrong stick home please return it next Wednesday. There are a couple that have gone missing this year and a few last year as well. i am sure it is an oversight but if they could please be returned it would be great. We all know how expensive it is to replace a good stick. Thanks

ROHA YEAR END PARTY

ROHA YEAR END PARTY

ROHA YEAR END PARTY AND AWARDS NIGHT

Saturday, June 1st, 2019

Mark Bertrand has offered to host this years party at his house for the second year in a row. Much appreciated Marc. Greg Haney has booked Traiteur Marc Besner for a great smoked pork and chicken dinner. This in the same group that we hired 20 years ago at the Community Center in Hudson for one of the best meals that we have ever had. We would like to invite all players, spares and Tuesday night (ROHA light) players and all wives, boyfriends and significant others for a great night to wrap up our 23rd year.

Cocktails at 6PM. Dinner at 7PM. Trophies at 8:30PM. Party till..........

It is a BYOB and a $10 per person cover for the food. ROHA will kick in the rest. Not a bad deal for an all you can eat meal at one of Hudson's best party palaces.

Shane Halfyard will provide the music and ROHA will provide the bartenders and make sure that there is enough booze to go around in case anyone runs short.

We all sign up with the same goal at the beginning of each year. Have some fun and win a championship. Some of us have better seasons than others. At our age you never know when that will be. It's always great to celebrate the players that have had great seasons. Come on out and celebrate this year with the guys you hang out with every Wednesday night all winter.

Hope to see you all there. Norm will send out an email to all players. Please let him know who is attending so that we can get an approximate head count.

BREAKDOWN FOR 1ST PLACE IN THE PLAYOFFS

BREAKDOWN FOR 1ST PLACE IN THE PLAYOFFS

Great games last night. The scenario for 1st place in the playoffs is simple. If White beats or ties Blue next week then White will finish in 1st place with more points. If Blue beats White then Blue will finish in 1st place with more wins than White. 2nd and 3rd is basically the same thing as both teams will play in the semi final. Red has been eliminated. Good luck guys. It should be a great finish.

February 25, 2019

REGULAR SEASON COMES TO AN END

REGULAR SEASON COMES TO AN END

Great to see such a tight finish to the regular season. Just thought I would throw out the tie breakers for this Wednesday night. Red will finish in 4th regardless of what happens this Wed. but they still have Henderson so watch out for Red in the playoffs. If Blue wins they finish in 1st. If White wins and Blue looses then White finishes 1st. If Blue ties and White wins, then White will finish 1st with more wins than Blue If Black wins and White looses then White will finish 2nd because they beat Black 5 games to 4 in the regular season. Good luck Wednesday to everyone. I know it is only the regular season but every team aims for 1st place from August on. Always nice to finish 1st.

CHRISTMAS DONATIONS

CHRISTMAS DONATIONS

Just a reminder to everyone that Al Smith will again be helping families in our area that need a little extra at this time of the year. There are many families in our area that will have very little or nothing at all for Christmas. ROHA has always been able to put a smile on a lot of kids faces at Christmas because of Al. Any amount of donation would be great and this is all kept confidential as usual. If you are able to donate anything please see Al this week or next. Thanks in advance to all that are able to help.

As usual our games are shorter that night. The 1st game is from 8:30 to 9:30 and the 2nd game is from 9:30 to 10:30. We welcome all of our players and all of our spares whether they play that night or not. There will be a raffle and a 1/2 and 1/2 draw as well. BLOWOUT AT BERTRAND'S

BLOWOUT AT BERTRAND'S

Thanks Marc Bertrand to one of the best ROHA parties that I have been too. A slow start but a tremendous finish. I left by the limo, that was provided for everyone to use, at 2:30 am and there was still 30 + people going hard. Great bar scene. Ping pong downstairs, dart tournament in the garage. Pool table going all night long. Osler and Todd going down the slide in the pool backwards holding their nose like a 5 year old kids and Henderson dancing with a Tony and Tony on a packed dance floor.

Congratulations to all the guys that won awards and to everyone that showed up. A great turnout as the night went on. I am sure 3/4 of the league was there at some time during the evening.

Thanks to Jay Oland for the limo.

ROHA can’t thank Marc and Sabrina enough for opening up their home to all the guys and their better halves for a great night.

Thanks again and see ya next year

HUMBOLDT BRONCOS

HUMBOLDT BRONCOS

Gentlemen, In between the games this week but after the zamboni has resurfaced the ice, I ask all 4 teams come together at center ice for a moment of silence in order to pay tribute to the tragic events in Humboldt this past weekend. A picture will be taken and this picture will serve as the cover of our Facebook page.

Also, I ask all players to make a donation to this cause - monies can be given to your captain or to me directly. The funds will be sent to the Broncos GoFundMe page.

Your cooperation is appreciated. #prayersforhumboldt

PLAYOFF SCENARIO

PLAYOFF SCENARIO

PLAYOFF SCENARIO GOING INTO THE LAST WEEK.

I will do my very best to make this as clear as mud.

Tie Breakers

1. most points - round robin 2. most wins - round robin 3. team vs. team - round robin 4. goal spread - round robin all teams

Wednesday April 11th: Red vs Blue and White vs Black

White: If White wins or ties they advance directly to the final. If White loses and Blue wins, Blue will advance directly to the final with a better record against White in the round robin

Blue: If Blue win and White lose, Blue advance directly to the final. If Blue loses and Black and Red win, Blue is out If Blue Ties and Black win, Black and Blue advance to the semi final and Red is out

Red: If Red win they advance to the semi final If Red ties and Black ties it will come down to total goals for and against in the round robin between all teams If Red and Black both lose it will come down to total goals for and against in the round robin between all teams

Black: If Black wins they advance to the semi final If Black and Red both tie or both lose then it will come down to goals for and against in the round robin between all teams.

Best scenario for all teams is to win next week. It is great to see things so close and everything coming down to the last week. Good luck to all and please keep it clean.

THE MEAN SEASON IS UNDER WAY

THE MEAN SEASON IS UNDER WAY

The real season starts this week. Our playoff Round Robin starts this Wednesday. As usual, we will play a double round robin, a semi final and a final. Everyone ups, or should I say everyone that can up their game, usually does so for the playoffs. It is always the best time of the year.

Congratulations to the Blue team for winning the regular season. Rookie captain Steve Wiggins drafted a great team and they are definitely the team to beat in the playoffs this year. Congratulations to Johnny Coutts for winning the scoring championship this year and congratulations to his line mates Chris Marsh and Jay Oland for great seasons as well. John could not have done this without you guys. Congratulations to Claude Brabant for winning his 6th Vezina this year. Another outstanding year.

And from the Executive to all of the players and spares, thanks for a great year. The individual scoring was a lot more spread out this year. Their were a lot more players touching the puck. There were half the penalties of other years. The complaining and whining is gone and with that comes a better game for everyone. I can not tell you how many players have told me this year how much fun it is to come to the rink. I am definitely one of those guys. We have used 40 different spares over the year and some of these guys will become regulars in the next year or 2. We look forward to having them join ROHA.

It is any teams game in the playoffs this year so bring your game and lets get at it.

SAUSAGE NIGHT

SAUSAGE NIGHT

The last game of the regular season is this week. Season 2 begins next week. The Blue team will be hosting Sausage Night this Wednesday to cap off the regular season. If you have ever gone in their dressing room after a game this year you will see that most nights are Sausage Night in their room. But this week they are inviting the rest of the league in to celebrate their Regular Season championship. Thanks boys, we are looking forward to a great meal. Going charge is $5 a sandwich. Jay Oland is smoking the sausages for a couple of hours in his smoker and they will be served warm in a bun with all the fixing. Should be a good night. Thanks again Jay for all you are doing. The ROHA Exec has made the replacements for the injured players for the balance of the year and the playoffs. Matt Bruno will replace Brian De Filippo. Justin West will replace Phil Vauclair and Mike Quinn will replace Jim Donnelly. All 3 players will be back next year and we hope to see them all out to support their respective teams during the playoffs. Next week is March Break and we always have lots of replacements. If you plan to be away please let your captain know as soon as you can. See you Wednesday

THROW BACK NIGHT

THROW BACK NIGHT

Back to the old days for one night only. This Wednesday Stu will be selling his sandwiches at the barn. Stu has been part of ROHA for more than 10 years. He put out a great spread at the Christmas party this year. So much food that a few guys even left with leftovers for lunch on Thursday. No need to bring a bag of chips this week. Should be a good throw back. Thanks Stu. Looking forward to it.

22ND SEASON ONLY 2 WEEKS AWAY

22ND SEASON ONLY 2 WEEKS AWAY

22 YEARS STRONG. We are only 2 weeks away until the start of the 2017- 2018 ROHA season. There are a few changes to our league this year. We are changing one of our sweaters. Gold will be retired and we have a brand new Pittsburgh Penguin black sweater. Most of the numbers on the sweaters are retro numbers from Penguin stars of the past and present. We are changing score keepers. As you know Roger has retired and will be replaced by Jay Olands girlfriend Sheila. The Rigaud Arena has a complete new scoreboard so it will take her a game or two to adjust but I am sure things will go fine. We lost a couple of players this year but they have been replaced by our more regular spares so there is no one that you will not recognize. Every once in awhile you have a changeover in players so this is nothing we have not been through before. We welcome all of the new players and say thanks to those that have left and we thank you all for your contributions to ROHA over the years. Over the past couple of years the talent was starting to spread out in ROHA. As more "A" players joined the league the "C" players were not touching the puck as much as they would have liked. We heard many complaints from the bottom of the league that the league was getting too strong. We also heard many complaints from the top of the league that we should think about retiring the old guys as they were slowing things down. ROHA has always tried to keep its competitive nature and at the same time NEVER have to ask someone to retire. (Except Ronnie). It has been a dilemma for the Exec as to what to do and how to change things to keep everyone happy. Well as things usually do in ROHA, the problem took care of itself. We have lost 4 or 5 "A" players and have replaced them with only 2 "A" players. The balance of "B" and "C" players that left have been replaced by other "B" and "C" players, thus bringing the caliber of the league down just a bit. We ran this by many of our players as we saw them over the summer and everyone has been very pleased by this decision. ROHA is a competitive Oldtimers hockey league. It has been that way since day one, and that is what makes it such an attractive league. Our spare list is very long with new guys wanting in all the time. Since this change we have a few guys that used to play ask if they could get back in. This year we welcome back Gary Somerville, Brian Walker and Tony Ellis. We have a new t-shirt that will be given out to each regular player at the first game. With all of the spares the last couple of years we have built up a little money in our bank account. The first one is free and we have lots of others for sale for anyone who wants to buy one. Designed by graphic artist. Ali Nadeau, the back of the t-shirt features a hockey rink with the name of every player that has ever played in ROHA since day one. It is pretty cool. That's about it. Our golf tournament and draft is Monday, August 28th at Whitlock. E-mails have been sent to everyone but if by chance you missed it please contact our new OFF-ICE coordinator and new member of the Exec., Craig Burnett at 514- 349-5138 if you want to play golf at 1PM or just come for dinner at 7PM. No Jeans please. Our first game is Wednesday, August 30th. Dues are the same as the last few years at $725. Please bring your series of cheques to the golf or the 1st game. Hope you are all enjoying your summer and see you on the ice.

ROGER RETIRES

ROGER RETIRES

Roger, our ROHA scorekeeper since day 1, has officially retired. After 21 years of filling out our score sheets, listening to all of our shit, and correcting all of the refs mistakes, he has decided to call it quits. At 72 years of age, and after 38 years as a scorekeeper at the Bourget Arena he has decided that enough is enough. In our 21 years, he has missed only one game in all of those years. He has been at more ROHA games than anyone else that has ever been involved with our league. I went to his house tonight in Pointe Fortune to thank him personally for what he has done for us. We had a beer or two together and a great chat about his time spent with us on Wednesday nights. He proudly showed me the plaque that he has mounted on a wall in his living room that ROHA presented to him 2 years ago for his time spent with us. It was important to him to make sure that I thanked everyone for all of the great memories that he has in ROHA. Just wanted to pass this along.

ROHA FINAL

ROHA FINAL

ROHA final tomorrow night, Wed, April 19th. Gold vs. Blue. There will be free beer and pizza to all players and spares that have played in ROHA at anytime. After the presentation of the Playoff Championship trophy on the ice, we will have the individual trophy presentations in front of the locker rooms as we did last year. Come on out and support the guys that made it to the finals. Last years game went into overtime and this years game should be just as close. Always a great night of hockey.

PLAYOFF SCENARIOS

PLAYOFF SCENARIOS

This week is the last game of our round robin playoffs. In Game #1, Red vs White, the winner will move on and the loser is off to the golf course. If Red wins ,the 2 teams will be tied in points with 4 each and wins with 2 each. Red beat White 4-3 earlier in the round robin so they would advance to the semi final game having beat White twice. In game #2, Gold vs Blue, the winner will advance directly to the final with the loser going to the semi final. Blue would advance as both teams would have 8 points, 4 wins and they both beat each other in the round robin, but Blue would have a better goal spread than Gold in the round robin. If Gold wins they would have more points. If they tie Gold will advance directly to the final. Good luck to everyone.

GET WELL SOON SCOTT

GET WELL SOON SCOTT

The ROHA family is on of the tightest groups that I have ever been associated with. That was proven again last night when Scott Hannah was injured. A very big thankyou to Norm Decelles who followed Scott to the Valleyfield Hospital and stayed with Scott for the 12 hrs that it took for him to be diagnosed, have the cast put on and then released. This is when you see what a guy is really worth. Thanks for standing up Norm. You make the whole league look great. Thanks also to the other guys that comforted Scott while he waited i hour for an ambulance and to the guys that got his equipment and car home after the game. ROHA is sometimes like a second family.

THE PLAYOFFS ARE HERE

THE PLAYOFFS ARE HERE

So here we are in the middle of the playoffs and we haven't even congratulated our regular season champions, team Blue, on a great 2016-2017 season. Congratulations to Phil Vauclair and the Blue team on a great season. Phil has never been an official captain in ROHA until this year but for a few years now, he has been the unofficial captain in many of our dressing rooms. Many times a silent leader, a few times a vocal leader, ok maybe more than a few times he was a vocal leader, but always a solid leader by example on the ice. Great job by a solid team....Congratulations to Justin on another scoring championship this year. Nice to see it actually came down to the last game. Chris Paul, behind by only 2 points going into the last week, scored 4 goals in the early game to take the scoring lead by 2 points. Then in the late game, Justin scored 2 points in the 1st period, then assisted on a goal with 10 minutes left in the last game of the year to win the scoring championship by one point. Did you ever expect anything less? Congratulations to Bernie Quigly of the Gold team on winning the Vezina. The Gold team, where 3 out of the 4 defencemen thought they where forwards....Three weeks into the playoffs and Gold has not lost a game. The other 3 teams all have 1 win and 2 losses each. Nothing is decided yet but always a good idea to post the tie breakers so there are never any questions about the importance of the remaining 3 games in our double round robin. Most points by a team in the round robin is the 1st tie breaker. Most wins by a team in the round robin is the second tie breaker. Team vs team in the round robin is the 3rd tie breaker. Gaol differential in the round robin between all teams is the 4th tie breaker. Team vs team in the regular season is the 5th tie breaker. Goal spread, team vs team in the regular season is the 6th tie breaker and goal spread, total regular season play is the 7th tie breaker. Hopefully it does not take more than that to see which team advances to the semi final and final game....Have a great playoffs.

ROHA Christmas Party

ROHA Christmas Party

The annual ROHA Christmas party is coming up a little quicker than we thought. The schedule on the web site has been changed. The party was originally scheduled for Wednesday, December 21st. It has been changed to Wednesday, December 14th. While we are changing dates, we may as well change locations. So that being said, this years Christmas party will be held on Wednesday, December 14th at the Whitlock Golf and Country Club. Scott Crowder and his Whitlock crew are going to put out a pasta, chilli and salad buffet to make sure we are all well fed. Two pool tables, a shuffleboard table. and a beautifully decorated main hall in the Christmas spirit, will make for a great night to kick off the holidays. There will be a full bar staff on hand and they will have two drivers available to drive anyone home that may have decided to party in the real ROHA tradition. As usual we will play shorter games. Early game 8:30 to 9:30 and late game from 9:30 to 10:30. The buffet will be served from 11:30 on. The bar will be open until 3AM. After three years at the Chat we have decided to shake things up a little. Whitlock offered us this great deal at the same price. This event is open to all ROHA regulars and spares. Hope to see all of us there for a great night where we put our rivals aside and party with a group of great friends.

A NEW SEASON BEGINS

A NEW SEASON BEGINS

Hey boys. I hope your summer is going well. The Exec has had our summer ROHA meeting and things are starting to shape up for our 2016-2017 season which gets underway in 5 weeks. Peter Miller and Mark Edward have retired as captains. We all want to thank both of you guys. It is a tough job that not everyone wants. You both did a commendable job that was much appreciated by all. Fern and Todd are staying on as captains for the 2016-17 season. Thanks boys. We would like to welcome Justin Lachapelle and Phil Vauclair as our 2 new captains for the upcoming year. Both of these guys have been long time leaders in our league and we are sure they will do a great job. We have 4 new players that we would like to welcome as full time players. Jay Oland, Steve Wiggins, Sylvain Cadorette and Greg Partridge. I am sure you all know these guys as they have all spared for a few years in ROHA. Welcome aboard. Last years golf and draft day was a huge success at Whitlock G&CC. After much negotiations Justin was able to land us the exact same deal as last year. Monday, August 22nd is the day. Golf starts at 1PM with dinner and the draft to follow. If you can't make the golf dinner will start at 6PM for $20. If you can't make dinner please come out for the draft which will get going around 7:30 PM. Last year was a lot of fun. Why not do it again. Put your foursomes together and if you don't have one, don't worry. We will fit you in. There are no new changes to our rules for the upcoming year. Once we find out the dates for March break we may adjust our playoff schedule so that we don't have 20 guys missing for a playoff game like last year. Roger will be back for his 21st year and we will be using Dan Dupre and his refs again this year. Have a great summer and we will see you on the 22nd to kick thing off.

Semi Final Set

Semi Final Set

As I am sure you all know, Red has advanced directly to the ROHA final with the best record in the playoff round robin going 5-0-1. Blue and White will face off in the semi final this coming Monday, April 11th at 9:30 PM. The winner will advance to the final on Wednesday, April 13th at 8:30 PM. Everyone, including all spares are invited to come and support the 2 teams in the final. ROHA will be supplying free pizza and beer to all of the players and spares whether or not you are playing in the final game or not. This is usually a pretty good game and although Red may well go down as the best team ever, the game is played on the ice and if you stop Prime Time and the Other Two Guys you probably stop Red. Anyone can win a one game final. Come on out and support the league. Also a thankyou to Gold who had one of the toughest seasons in ROHA history. For the most part they competed right up to the end winning their last round robin game 8-5 to shoe that they never quit. Hope to see you all at the semi final and especially the final game.

SO IS RED THE BEST TEAM EVER??

SO IS RED THE BEST TEAM EVER??

Well, is Red the best team ever in our 20 year history? Let's have a look at what they did this year. Red set a new record for most points in a season with 42 points this year. The previous record was 41 points set by Black in 02/03 and Red in 98/99. Red, this year set a new record with the fewest losses in a year with only 5 losses. 5 other teams, over the years, had only 7 losses. Red set a new record with 20 wins this year. 3 other teams, over the years, had 19 wins. With 110 GA this year, Red are not even close to the all time record set in the 1st year of ROHA, 1996-97. Black Goalie Claude Brabant holds this all time record, 20 years in, with only 76 goals against and a 2.71 GA Avg. in 28 games played. With 161 goals for this year Red came up a little short of the record held by the 2012- 13 White team with 174 goals for. The big line of Vauclair, Thompson and Marsh lead the way for White followed by Calder and Pateridis, all scoring over 45 pts each that year. I would have to say that Red, with new all time records for most point for, most wins for and the fewest losses by a team overall could well be the best team ever. So now is Gold the worst team ever? Well the Red team of 2005-06 had a record of 4 wins, 12 losses and 10 ties and 18 points. (A. Tremblay. B. Tremblay, Somerville, Trumpler, Pateridis, a rookie, Lister, Emond, Langteigne, Simpson, Mair, Decelles, Kastner, Marceau and goalie Louis Comintini). Sorry boys you have no where to hide. So this years Gold sets a new record with only 13 points With 179 goals against they set a new record as well. The previous record was held by Kim Bourre and the 2001/02 Black team. I believe that was Kim's last year as a goalie. While we are at it, Red's top line of Prime Time and the Other Two Guys had a pretty good year. Congratulations Justin, Brian and Craig. You guys had an amazing year. are you really unstoppable? Only the playoffs will tell. Did they set any records? The all time record for goals in a season is still held by Dave Taylor in the 2001/02 season with 42 goals. With 69 total points this season Justin Lachapelle tied Dave Taylor ((01/02) for most points in a season. With 42 assists this year Justin Lachapelle tied Peter Thompson (12/13) for most assists in a season. Congratulations Justin on a great season. Congratulations to Brian Defilippo who finished only one point behind Justin this year. Brian played only 22 games this year so who knows what could of happened if he gave a little bit more of s shit about ROHA and a little bit less of a shit about work.....Congratulations Red on an amazing year. Funny thing is, with all the stats that I have thrown out here, Red's captain Todd Brochu has not even been mentioned. You drafted well Todd and you are the backbone of a great team. All the stats and all the records speak for themselves but Todd is for sure the best and most honest player ROHA has ever had.

THE REAL SEASON STARTS NEXT WEEK

THE REAL SEASON STARTS NEXT WEEK

You have to love ROHA. In the middle of the biggest ice storm of the year, with power out at most of our homes, there we all are playing hockey, drinking beer, eating jerked pork while the rest of our friends are huddled next to their fire places trying to stay warm and dry. God love The Barn. The Holy Grail of hockey arenas. Great job on the raffle last night. Thanks Adam for the great prizes. Thanks Ryan for all of the hard work. ROHA has a certain amount alotted for the beer budget and it is very depended on the amount of beer that we can purchase at the Labatt's beer sale each month. This year we were not able to purchase as much, as Labatt's tightened there budget and so the guys bought the balance at Costco. This costs a little more. The beer guys came up with the idea of a raffle to raise money to keep the beer flowing throughout the playoffs. So far so good. Also a huge thankyou to the Gold team and especially Ryan Mayoff for a great spread of food last night. I don't think they missed anything. It was a true feast. Gold may have come last in the regular season this year but they did win the bake off. Thanks again. The playoff schedule it up on the website and we are ready ti go for season number two. Good luck to all teams as we now press the reset button and play for all the money. Only 5 times out of 20 years has the team that won the regular season also won the playoffs. Red has struggled a bit lately and Vegas has them as co-favorites with White to win it all. Anything can happen in a 6 game round robin. Play hard but play fair. Let the games begin.

GOLD TO HOST FOOD NIGHT

GOLD TO HOST FOOD NIGHT

This coming Wednesday Gold are bringing Jerked Chicken for all the players in ROHA. It should be a great way to cap of the regular season. See you there.

SMOKED MEAT NIGHT IS BACK

SMOKED MEAT NIGHT IS BACK

This Wednesday is smoked meat night at ROHA. Leave the chips and pretzels at home. Bring your $5 for a sandwich, some coleslaw and a pickle. Always fun to change things up a bit now and again. Always fun to play some puck, eat too much, drink too much, and go to sleep feeling like crap. Don't fall asleep until 3AM with a full belly. Get up at 7AM and struggle to put that morning in. Grab a nap at lunch and come back feeling like a million bucks. That is why we play. That is the regime of the athletes that we all are. Can't wait.

2015 Christmas Party

2015 Christmas Party

Wednesday, December 16th is our annual ROHA Christmas Party. We will be following the same format as last year. We will play 3, 12 minute stop time periods and then head to the Chateau du Lac for a Christmas Feast and a few beers. Thanks to Mike and Brian De Filippo for supplying the food to Stu who will then prepare it for us and serve it up at 11:30PM at the Chateau. Between the 2 games we will be presenting a plaque and a gift certificate to Auberges des Gallants to Roger, our beloved scorekeeper. We will ask the 2 teams that play the 1st game to remain on the ice and the teams that play the second game will then join the teams already on the ice so that we are all there to make this presentation. We will then have a group photo of all the guys in the league on the ice at the same time. For those of you who don't know, Roger has been with us for 20 years. He has missed only 1 game in those 20 years. He has been at more ROHA games than anyone else. Kinda cool actually. This plaque and gift certificate is our way of saying thank you. I have collected $10 from alot of the players from ROHA. Thanks to all of you who contributed to this gift for Roger. On another note, Al Smith is again sponsoring 18 families for Christmas this year. He is looking for any monetary donation that you can afford to help out his cause. Al then buys a complete Christmas dinner for these poor families that would otherwise have nothing on this special day. Please bring what you can and see Al this Wednesday at the rink. Thanks in advance for helping this great cause. Over the years ROHA has been a great help to Al in getting these meals purchased and delivered right to their homes. Lets keep the tradition going. Thanks everyone and Merry Christmas

BLOCKBUSTER TRADE IN ROHA

BLOCKBUSTER TRADE IN ROHA

Nothing better than 2 good beatings at the barn on a Wednesday night to piss 2 captains right off. Blue get beat 7-2 and Gold get beat 10-2. Blue captain Peter Miller and Gold captain Mark Edward happen to bump into each other in the hallway after a couple of beers and of course a rum or 2, and all hell breaks loose. They had to be separated by Charlo and the 3 or 4 remaining guys that were helping to clean up after a long night. A very sad scene.... But it seems they did some talking...... Dickson, Goldstein and Donnelly are traded from Blue to Gold in return for Ryan Smith, Penny and Doc Lawson. Huge trade that shakes up the 2 bottom teams in the league.. But wait... Tom Dickson, unfortunately, has decided to take the rest of the year off. Tom we love you and hope to see you back next year. (but I will get back to this). Trade is now off.... We contact Jeff Salhany who is the next guy in and a good fit for Dickson. Captains both agree and trade is a go. But wait...Salhany says he can't commit. The fucker. 3rd time he has done this. Trade is now off again..... But wait again...Adam Mills is now contacted, as are both captains, about this new shakeup to the trade. Captains agree that Mills would be a good fit. Mills says he would be happy to join the league and the deal is done. Plenty of adrenaline in this one.... So the deal is sealed. Adam Mills, Mark Goldstein and Jim Donnelly are traded from Blue to Gold for Ryan Smith, Brian Penny and Tim Lawson. Mills was in the league for 2 seconds before he was traded. that has to be some sort of record. Thanks to all of the guys that were traded for helping out ROHA to make it a better league. I don't think anyone thinks that any of these guys were the root cause for the losses that Blue and Gold endured. The captains of both teams felt it was time for a shakeup and they took it upon themselves to do something about it. That takes balls. So Todd, you got any balls????

TRADE SEASON IS UPON US

TRADE SEASON IS UPON US

After a somewhat questionable draft this past summer and the captains not able to come together on any trades thus far, the league has stepped in to try to balance the playing field a little. With Luc Gagnon, from White, out for the year, Ryan van Rees was traded from Gold to White to fill Luc's spot. Steve Wiggins, for the 2nd year in a row, will move up from the spare list and join Gold. Ryan has played forward in past years in ROHA and will be a good replacement for Luc. Steve will help bolster Golds back end which by far leads the league in goals against. There were many other trade scenarios brought forward by the Executive but this seemed the least intrusive to the rosters of the 4 teams. We are all aware that Red will be tough to beat this year but we all felt that they should not be punished for drafting well. This hopefully will balance the other 3 teams and lets remember the final is only one game and anything can happen in one game. The 4 captains have until December 16th to make any trades that they feel will help their team. If no other trades are made and there are no serious injuries then this should be it as far as player movement. Thanks to all the Exec who contributed with all of their ideas. Thanks very much to Ryan for standing up for the league to try to even things out. And thanks to Mike De Filippo for orchestrating the entire process. Also Jay Oland is the next guy in from our spare list. We explained the trade situation to him as he has been standing in for Luc since he has been out. Jay will be in as a spare until the next available spot opens up and will replace Norm when he takes the ROHA money on his next jaunt around the world. Thanks Jay.

2015-2016 ROHA SEASON OPENER ONLY 2 WEEKS AWAY

2015-2016 ROHA SEASON OPENER ONLY 2 WEEKS AWAY

I hope everyone is finally enjoying the sunny weather and having a great summer. We have now contacted everyone who is playing this season and will be on the ice for our 1st game on August 26th. Pierre Calder, Andre Tremblay and Luc Gagnon are all returning as regulars this year and Tim Osler is the only rookie this year. Welcome aboard as a full time player Tim. Our golf tournament and draft night are being held on Monday, August 17th at Whitlock Golf and Country Club as you all probably know by now. Justin has updated Facebook and all the info is there. Try to get back to Justin ASAP so that he can book the 4somes and let Whitlock know how many we will be for dinner and the draft. Hope to see everyone there. Have a great season and good luck to all this year.

ROHA SUMMER BLOWOUT

ROHA SUMMER BLOWOUT

Summer is finally here after one of the longest and coldest winters since Haney scored more than 2 goals in a season. Marc June 12th on your calendar. Marc it as the first ever ROHA summer party. Marc Bertrand has invited all of ROHA players, spares and their wives and girlfriends and all of the ROHA Light Tuesday night guys and their wives and boyfriends to his home for a summer blowout. That's right, the MEGA BLOCKS house in Alstonvale, Hudson, Quebec. Ever been in a 5 million dollar house. Well here is your chance. Marc has a huge heart, a huge home and likes to throw huge parties. On Friday, June 12th we are all invited to his home to talk about this past year and to talk about next year. Since we stopped the year end parties at the Hudson Community Center we have never got together as a league with all of us and all of our wives. Trust me, I have never heard the end of it at the IGA from all of your wives. So it is now make up time. Marc is opening up his home with a bar the size of the Foxes Run, a snooker table the size of Mark Edward's ass, an indoor pool, the best view of the Lake of Two Mountains in Hudson, an incredible sound system and all of us. It is a BYOB and if you want to bring a simple appetizer it would be greatly appreciated. The night will get going at 7:30 PM and finish when the last guy leaves. This has the potential to be one of the best ROHA parties ever. The more the merrier. Marc has never thrown a bad party. Call me or e- mail me if you have any questions. We really hope to see everyone there with their wives and girlfriends. The address is 25 Ragapple in Hudson.

WHITE WINS 2014-2015 ROHA CHAMPIONSHIP

WHITE WINS 2014-2015 ROHA CHAMPIONSHIP

Congratulations to team captain Marc Desmarais and the White team on their 5-3 victory over Gold in The ROHA final. A long way from their 0-7 start at the beginning of the season. It was our tightest season ever and going into the playoffs it definitely was anyone's trophy to grab. White had 3 balanced lines and a probably the leagues strongest defense after Steve Wiggins was added in the TRADE. White had Gold's number all year long and proved it again in the final. Well played White and well deserved. The incident at the end of the game was again disappointing and the suspension will be dealt with at the summer meeting. Congratulations to all the guys that won the trophies given out after the final game. The regular season 1st place plaques for Blue and the playoff champion plaques for White will be given out next year at the draft. We will be in touch over the summer about how we will work the golf tournament and the draft but for sure they will be on the same day. It should be a great way to start the year. I would like to thank all of the members of the Board of Directors and the four team captains for all of their help this year. The league would not be the same with out you guys. Also a big thankyou to the beer crew who put in alot of extra time to make sure we all had cold beer for every game. Mike Defilippo will be ROHA president next year. Have a great summer and we will see you next year.

YEAR END PARTY

Only 2 weeks left in the 2014-2015 season. Our annual golf tournament will be held in August this year on the day of the draft. There will be lots more on that once we have everything planned out. Out trophy presentation and year end party will be held at the rink after the final playoff game. We will have lots of food and beer for all players and friends and family members that would like to attend. THE HAMMER COMES DOWN ON THE FIGHTING IRISH

THE HAMMER COMES DOWN ON THE FIGHTING IRISH

On -Ice Commissioner Mike Defilippo and the Executive Committee, through a series of many e-mails and coversations have suspended 5 players in ROHA from 4 different teams after last weeks playoff games. Graham Dorcas and Brian Tremblay have both been suspended for stick work and punches thrown in last weeks first game. Scott hannah has been suspended 1 game for his hit to the back of Jeff Salhaney. Mark Goldstein has suspended for 1 game for his hit to Hannah and Brian De Filippo has been suspended 1 game for his hit to Goldstein in last weeks 2nd game. Should be an interesting week at Journey Freight. Playoffs always bring out the best in all of us and sometimes not the best in all of us. After tempers started to flare in the last couple of weeks, the Exec is obviously sending a message to tone it down a bit boys. Craig Gordon left last weeks game with a separated shoulder. He is done for the year. No one is blaming anyone for Craig's injury but we all have to work on Thursdays. For both Goldstein and De Filippo it is their 2nd one game suspension of the year. They both have no more room for error this year. For the rest of us, well we all know there is a little more bumping in the playoffs than the regular season but try to respect everyone else on the ice. As for the refs. They are doing the best job they can. We are not pros and neither are they. You miss an open net goal and they miss an offside. You miss a pass and they miss a penalty. For the most part these are the best group of refs we have had over the last few years. We will ask for the best refs for our semi final and our final as we always have. Four weeks to go guys. Play hard and have fun.

FINAL STANDINGS

FINAL STANDINGS

A funny night for a night with such great anticipation. Gold and White played with playoff type jitters while Blue and Red played like champions in 2 blowouts. Not exactly what anyone expected......Congratulations to Blue who finish 1st overall with most points....Red, Gold and White all finished with 29 points in our tightest finish ever......All 3 teams had the same total of wins at 13.....White defeated Gold 6 games to 3, Gold defeated Red 7 games to 2, and Red defeated White 6 games to 3 in head to head games during the regular season.... So the 4th tie breaker is plus / minus for the total season....Red at +11 will finish second, Gold at +1 will finish 3rd and White at -14 will finish 4th....Great season guys. With all the bumping and grinding after THE TRADE, the standing are exactly the same now as they were at the time of the trade, but just a little tighter. John Greenough for ROHA MVP this year. Who would have thought one guy could make so much of a difference. Good luck in the playoffs guys. Spring Break is next week so be ready for spare central. It is the same every year. It spices up the playoffs nicely. For the 15 guys or so that get to go away there are 40 guys slugging it out for there teams. Gentlemen, start your engines!!!!!

February 19, 2015

ONE WEEK TO GO

ONE WEEK TO GO

We have come down to the last week of the ROHA 2014-2015 season with 3 teams tied for first and Red only 2 points back. An unbelievable finish to the regular season. Definitely the tightest race ever. There are enough tie breaker possibilities to keep Norm talking for a week. I will give you the possibilities for 1st place only and we can figure the rest out next week......If Blue beats Gold and White beats Red, Blue will finish 1st with more wins that White....If Gold beats Blue and White beats Red, White will finish 1st as White beat Gold 6 games to 3 in head to head competition during the regular season..... If Gold beats Blue and Red beats White, Gold will finish 1st with the most points....Red can not finish 1st....That should do it in a nutshell. As I said, we will figure out the rest after the last game of the regular season next week. Just to say it has been a great season so far. Any team can win any night. It should be a great playoff this year. If you don't bring it every game you won't win. Have fun and keep it clean as things are about to rev up.

TIE BREAKER SYSTEM

TIE BREAKER SYSTEM

This will be our closest finish ever. Great to see what happens when you have 4 new captains that have no idea what they are doing. Maybe we should do this every year. With the standings too close to call with 2 games to go I will figure out the odds and post them before the last game but for now here is the ROHA tie breaker system. 1. Most points 2. Most wins 3. Team vs. Team 4. Goal spread (all teams) 5. Goal spread (team vs. team). Hopefully it is not still tied but if it is we will call an emergency meeting and go from there.

THANKS JUICE

THANKS JUICE

Thanks Justin for another great night. Just an amazing display of generosity towards TeamStock.ca. by the guys that were there. Chris and Adam, we owe you both a big thank you for all of the great prizes that you put together in less than a day. Unbelievable. For all of the regular no shows at this party you will all have your chance to chip in this Wednesday. A great night had by all Juice. Thanks for opening your home up to the league.

PLEASE HELP SUPPORT DEAN

PLEASE HELP SUPPORT DEAN

This letter was sent out to members of the hockey community about Dean. It’s with a sad heart that I send out this communication to our team. “Last year many of us participated in the ALS ice bucket challenge. The campaign successfully raised awareness of this terrible neurodegenerative disease. Unfortunately for Dean Stock, in December 2014 he was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease). One of the first decisions the family made was to ensure that they did their part to help continue to raise awareness, which is the main purpose of this communication. Dean played his minor hockey in Dollard-des-Ormeaux with his brother PJ Stock. Both moved on to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League where they played for Victoriaville then continued on to play CIS Hockey at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia. Dean was good enough to eventually make it to the East Coast hockey league while PJ went on to the NHL where he got to play for New York, Montreal, Philadelphia and Boston. Today Dean is a father and coach of three hockey players (1 boy and 2 girls), and is continuing a hockey tradition that is near and dear to his heart. On February 1st The Rogers Hometown Hockey broadcast will feature the Arizona Coyotes versus Montreal Canadiens at 1PM EST. PJ and Dean’s story will be shared Nationwide in between periods during this broadcast. The segment will highlight both Stock brothers as well as focus on Dean’s battle. The family would like to encourage all to watch the segment in the hopes that it brings more attention to ALS.” Dean and I have been co-coaches, adversaries and most importantly great friends for many years. Please support him and his family in any way you can to help with his battle. Mark Cote

ANNUAL ROHA WINTER CLASSIC

ANNUAL ROHA WINTER CLASSIC

ROHA poker party and outdoor skills competition will be held at Justin's again this year on Saturday Feb 7th. This is always a great night with all the rum and beer supplied by ROHA. We will also supply some of the munchies but like we did last year, if anyone would like to chip in and bring their favorite munchie just let Justin know. I am going to bring a bunch of wings and Stu is going to bring his famous crab cakes. The more food the better. ROHA will pay for any ingredients that you need for you dish. Bring your stick and boots to take part in the skills competition and to play ball hockey on the most famous outdoor rink in Montreal. And bring a few bucks if you want to play some poker. All spares are invited as well. Hope to see everyone there. The fun starts at 7PM

ANY GIVEN WEDNESDAY

ANY GIVEN WEDNESDAY

Only 6 games left before the playoffs. Only 2 points separating 1st and last. Tightest race ever. It seems anything can happen any Wednesday at the barn. Where White's 9 game winning streak only means they have peaked too early. Where Brian De Filippo has more goals than Mike De Filippo has shots. Where when Desmarais drafted Mair as his 4th D, he told me he slept like a baby that night. Every 2 hours he woke up and cried. Where Donnelly is skating like he is 60 again. Where Lister's mindset is, if you are not going to score goals, at least make people hate you. Where someone spelled RETARD wrong on the back off Mailloux's sweater. Where Calder personally challenged anyone on the Exec who wanted to get rid of fighting in ROHA to a fight. Where Ron Pasquini was always the 2nd best goalie on the ice. Where every time you look at Haney in the shower, you feel bad for his wife. Where Easter has only 2 penalties this year. Simply a shell of the man that would slash Calder or Taylor and then chirp and laugh as he skated away.... Ahhhh ROHA. Every year is a little different than the last and every week is a little different from the next. Any given Wednesday. Gonna be a tight finish.

ROHA Christmas Carol

ROHA Christmas Carol

So with all the Truth Serum drank last night at the ROHA Christmas Party and all the little chats that I had with so many players, it just made me feel all warm and cozy about our wonderful league. It reminded me of one of my very favourite traditional Christmas songs. I thought I might share it with you. Please feel free to sing along to the Twelve Days of Christmas. i will not repeat every verse as I think you will all get how it goes. On the first day of Christmas ROHA gave to me... One set of standings as close as it could possibly be... On the second day of Christmas ROHA gave to me... Two turtle dove coaches that can't see that everything will be OK... On the third day of Christmas ROHA gave to me... A three game suspension for Krindle... On the fourth day of Christmas ROHA gave to me... Four teams that couldn't pull off a trade even if their season depended on it... On the fifth day of Christmas ROHA gave to me... A five minute major for biting... On the sixth day of Christmas ROHA gave to me... A six goal performance by Brian, and not Mike, De filippo... On the seventh day of Christmas ROHA gave to me... A seven game losing streak that is not even close to a league record...(babies).. On the eighth day of Christmas ROHA gave to me... Eight wins for Blue, Eight losses for Blue, Eighty Three goals for Blue, Eighty Six goals against Blue and Eight players for Blue that want to boycott the league...(babies) On the ninth day of Christmas ROHA gave to me... A nine month schedule with losing and winning streaks when it really doesn't matter because everyone makes the playoffs anyways... On the tenth day of Christmas ROHA gave to me... Ten posts on Facebook every day promoting the Rocket Dryer... On the eleventh day of Christmas ROHA gave to me... Eleven e-mail requests from Cossette for assists, even though he is injured On the twelve day of Christmas ROHA gave to me... Twelve players from the Gold team that wish their goalie would stay in his fucking net... That's it boys. Never forget we are all playing for the love of the game, and to get out of the house with the boys for a night, and to try and have the same fun playing the game of hockey that we had when we were kids. We have a great thing going and to be passionate about our league is what keeps it going. Great turnout last night guys. I am happy to be part of it.

DOCTOR, DOCTOR GIVE ME THE NEWS

DOCTOR, DOCTOR GIVE ME THE NEWS

Doctor, doctor give me the news...I got a bad case of Brian De Filippo blues...No pills gonna cure my ill... I gotta bad case of Brian De Filippo blues....Whoaaaa....The Blue team doctor line of Dr. Brian Tremblay, Dr. Tim Lawson and Dr. Christien Gagne were on the ice and had no response to the 3 goals that Brian De Filippo scored against them on one shift in the 2nd period in lasts night game. De Filippo scored 3 goals in 32 seconds. For sure a ROHA record for not only goals by one player in that short amount of time, but goals by one team in that amount of time. To add to that Brian scored a goal earlier in the 2nd period and the first 2 goals of the 3rd period. Yup,thats right,, count 'em up, 6 goals in a row... Congrats Brian for a true ROHA record. The only thing that would upstage that feat in any year was the fact that Norm notched 4 assists on those goals. Not to take anything away from Brian but WTF. Norm for Over 55 Player of the Year. Great game and great record Brian. Congratulations on a great game from all of us.

CHRISTMAS TIME IN ROHA

CHRISTMAS TIME IN ROHA

Christmas is coming quickly. Our annual Christmas party is Wednesday, December 17th at the Chateau du Lac. Journey Freight has kindly offered to donate and prepare all of the food this year. Thank you to Mike and Brian De Filippo and Mark Goldstein for their generous contribution. The games that night will be 3, 14 minute periods in length, so the 1st game starts at the regular 8:30 time slot but the 2nd game will start at 9:30. Food will be ready to go at 11:30 at the Chat and yes there will be enough for everyone who plays in the 2nd game... Hope to see everyone there and all spares are welcome to join us for a fun night of festivities to kick of the Christmas season. This coming week we will be collecting any and all donations for the underprivileged families that Al Smith helps out every year in the Hudson and St. Lazare area. We will be passing the hat around in the dressing rooms and any donation will be much appreciated. We have done this for a number of years now and all you have to do is ask Al how many families we have been able to help enjoy a wonderful turkey dinner or help put a couple of gifts under the tree. Even Norm has been spotted donating the spare money collected that night into the hat. There are a few guys in the league that contribute a full turkey dinner to one of Al's families. If you are able or interested in helping one of these families out please speak to Al about this. You can purchase everything yourself or just donate a lump sum to Al and he will gladly do the shopping for you. Either way works for him. I have done this for a number of years and I can not tell you how good it feels to see the look on Al's face and then get the feedback from him after one of these families that live in our neighbourhoods, receives a Christmas meal they would not otherwise have, that we all take for granted. Do what you can guys. Every little bit helps.

THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY

THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY

THE GOOD: Teams have been balanced. With Andre Tremblay out with Vertigo, he has been replaced by Steve Wiggins. Steve was then promptly traded to White for John Greenough. Steve Wiggins was one of the 4 guys promised a spot when we talked about the 5th defenceman at the beginning of the year. We promised those 4 guys we would get them in as quickly as we could and this was a good opportunity to do so. Welcome aboard Steve Hopefully this small move will help to balance out the league...... THE BAD: The Hudson Gazette has stopped publishing for the time being. This is an absolute shame for all of the readers and local advertisers and the ROHA guys looking for a little press time. It has been around for 6 decades. Let's hope they resolve their problems and get back up and running. We are talking to the Local Journal about putting our ROHA stats in their paper. Hopefully they can find a spot for us and we can all get our names in press again soon..... THE UGLY: Mark Goldstein has been suspended for 1 game and Dave Krindle has been suspended for 3 games after their scrap last Wednesday night. There will always be pushing and shoving but there should never be fights. Just a reminder that we are playing for fun guys and no one wants to see what happened last Wednesday. We are Oldtimer hockey. Anyone who thinks that they are bigger than that should go find a new place to play.

HERE WE GO AGAIN

HERE WE GO AGAIN

Thanks to all who attended the draft at the Chateau last night. A smaller turnout than normal. Are we getting old or bored? The teams have been posted on this site. By all accounts last night, it looks like 4 very balanced teams. The new captains have come up with a very new look to ROHA for the 2014-2015 season. We will have to wait to see how the chemistry within each team works out but it should be another close year, hopefully coming right down to the wire. Stu will be at games from time to time but not every week. It will be up to each team to supply there own post game munchies if they want to eat. I hope to see some original ideas. We get underway this Wednesday, August 27th. There are no exhibition games. We are live next week. Let's have some fun.

FRESH START FOR 2014-2015

FRESH START FOR 2014-2015

I hope the summer is going well for everyone. Our annual Captains / Executive summer meeting will be held in early August as usual. Norm will send out the letters of commitment for our upcoming season around that time. Please get back to Norm with your intentions for the upcoming year as soon as you can. I am assuming that everyone is coming back but please let Norm know so that we are sure of everyones intentions. We have Ryan Smith coming back this year and a long list of guys that want to play as regulars.... Justin Lachapelle and Carl Poirier have been added to the Executive Committee. A little youth and I am sure some fresh ideas. Carl has been a team captain in ROHA and Justin has been very involved with our extra curricular events for the last few years as I am sure you all know. Both guys know our league from the inside out. Rum Cart meetings and late night Cunny's meeting are what this league is all about. Welcome aboard boys and thanks for offering up your time and knowledge. We have decided to go with four new captains this year. Thanks to Pierre, Marc, Mark and Dave for the time they put in as captains over the past few years. They have all done the job. Pierre has won three championships in a row. The only captain to have ever done that. Not always an easy job. Much appreciated boys and thanks from everyone in ROHA. The four new captains are Marc Desmarais, Fern Garcia, Mark Edward and Peter Miller. First and foremost these four guys have all stepped forward to be more involved with the administration of our league. Thanks for that. Secondly they were all drunk when they offered up their services and we never said no. Four new captains and four new ideas on how to draft and how to run a team in ROHA. Looking forward to a great year. I will update this site after the summer meetings.

GOLD WINS 2014 ROHA CHAMPIONSHIP

GOLD WINS 2014 ROHA CHAMPIONSHIP

Congratulations to all of the players on Gold for a great year and a great playoffs.James Labre led the way in the final 3-2 win over Blue with another great goaltending performance. Only the 5th team in 18 years that a team has finished first overall in the regular season and then gone on to win the playoff championship. Thanks to everyone for a great season.....May 3rd is our annual ROHA golf tournament and awards night. It will again be held at Riviere Rouge Golf and Country Club in beautiful St> Clet. If you do not have a foursome just show up and we will figure it out. Tee off time is 11AM. Dinner is at 6PM if you can't make the golf. Justin and Peter Miller will be running the show again this year so if you have any questions please let them know. Hope to see everyone there.

SEMI FINAL THIS MONDAY

SEMI FINAL THIS MONDAY

White vs Blue this Monday, April 14th at 9:30 PM in the ROHA semi final. Winner advances to play Gold in the ROHA final set for Wed. April 16th at 8:30 PM. What happened this year between White and Blue you ask.... Blue beat White in their first 6 straight meetings with one shootout win. White beat Blue in their last 3 games against each other with one shootout win thrown in as well. Blue beat White 7-2 and 3-2 in the playoff Round Robin. Who knows what any of this really means, but it is sure fun to speculate. Stop Lachapelle, stop Blue. Stop Brochu, stop White. Maybe and maybe not. Bernie Bonerek on fire for Blue and Randy Trumpler taking Allards spot as Justins wingman had 6 points in the last playoff Round Robin game. Andre Tremblay, Walker and Thompson scoring at will in the playoffs. One game in ROHA in a winner take all is anybody's game. Good luck to both teams. Always a good night.

Where's Waldo

Where's Waldo

It's been a who's who of whose missing in the playoffs. Did Ronnie open up a Bed & Breakfast in Magog? Justin and Chris go golfing down south together. First place in the playoffs on the line and they leave it up to the spares. Bernie Quigly face dives on Justin's pond. Claude Brabant has a cold and he watches from behind the glass. They leave it up to the spares. WTF....What we know for sure is that Red is out and the other 3 teams are in. Even if Red win the next 2, they have lost 2 to White in the playoffs and they can't catch Gold or Blue. Red will finish 4th. With one win in their next 2 Gold will advance to the final. Blue and White will finish 2nd and 3rd depending on the next 2 games. ROHA has always come down to one game. Gold, Blue and White all have a shot. All 3 teams have finished strong. Gold is probably favoured with the best record in the regular season and no losses in the playoffs. But really...have a look at Blue's roster and have a look at White's roster. This will come down to one game. Should be a shootout. Should be fun.

PLAYOFF BREAKDOWNS

PLAYOFF BREAKDOWNS

Did you watch Canada defeat the US in Women's Olympic Hockey today? How cool was that. Down 2-0 with 3 minutes to play. No problem for our girls. We score 2 goals in the last 3 minutes and then one in overtime. Come back of the century. Gold medal. We should all be proud of that. In December the US pounded Canada in a pre Olympic hockey tournament. No problem.....Canada came back and won the gold medal when it counted..... Much like ROHA (ya we wish)....the regular season is the regular season. One week to go before our playoffs when we reset all of our stats. Any team can win from here on in. Gold will finish 1st, as usual for any Calder team it seems. Blue will finish 4th as usual, for any Krindle team it seems.. It is yet to be decided who will finish 2nd and 3rd..... Like it really matters anyways..... But just to keep everything clear. White plays Red in the last game of the regular season. If White wins then they finish 2nd based on most points. If Red wins then they finish 2nd based on most points. If there is a shootout and Red wins, both teams will finish with 28 pts . Red would then finish 2nd with one more win than White. Our second tie breaker scenario..... That should set it straight. Good luck to everyone in the playoffs. Go Canada go in the Men's Olympic Hockey

3 WEEKS TO GO UNTIL PLAYOFFS

3 WEEKS TO GO UNTIL PLAYOFFS

Hard to believe it but we have one more game against each other and then the REAL SEASON begins. Pierre Calder, now officially the best captain in ROHA history, and his Gold team have wrapped up 1st place for the 3rd straight year. The other 3 teams have a 2 point difference between them so all spots are up for grabs. It appears that Justin will notch his 2nd scoring title and James Labre is on his way to his 2nd Vezina trophy. But all this will mean nothing once the playoffs begin. A brand new season and as we all know anything can happen. An official playoff spare list is being put together this week and will be presented to the captains next week. Just a reminder that all spares must play in the draft position of the regular player he is replacing. there are no exceptions to this rule.(ie. If the regular player being replaced was drafted as a D then the spare replacing him must play D) The same as last year. We will get together with the captains after the 2nd game next week to be sure that everything is clear. Good luck everyone.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Another ROHA Christmas party. Another write off Thursday. Thank you Mike De Filippo, Stewey and the Chateau du Lac for a great night. Just a ton of good food and Christmas cheer. Nice to see half the guys leaving with a take out package. Nice to see such a great turn out. I heard that 10 or more guys closed Cunny's at about 4:30AM. A Very Merry Christmas to all the ROHA family. Check out the schedule for the game dates and times for the next two weeks as we are not playing our regular Wednesday nights. Next weeks games are on Friday night so don't make any plans for Saturday morning. Merry Christmas everyone.

CHRISTMAS PARTY

CHRISTMAS PARTY

A reminder that next Wednesday, December 18th is our annual Christmas party. This years event will be held at the Chateau du Lac in Hudson. The games will be 3, 14 minute periods so don't forget that if you play the late game you start early. Captains will be passing the hat around the room next week and the money collected will go to the kids that Al Smith works with. Some do not even have a winter coat so don't be afraid to chip at this time of the year. Mike De Filippo has promised a big spread of food so no one will go away hungry. Hope to see you all there.

NEW LOOK FOR ROHA

NEW LOOK FOR ROHA

As you all probably have noticed our Guestbook has been shut down. This is not a ROHA decision, but rather a decision by our web site host "esportsdesk.com" as previously mentioned. Our new Facebook page is up and running and is proving to be pretty entertaining. Game videos, league stats, the regular guestbook banter and the odd advertisement for Rocketman are being updated daily. We will continue to use this website for all league stats. The Facebook page is a great addition to the league as we can do so much more than the guestbook or the photo album allowed us to do. If you want to be part of this join Facebook and ask Peter Miller to be your friend. How gay is that? He will set you up. It is a private site and can only be seen by the 'friends' that Peter accepts. Check it out

ANDRE DAUNAIS RETIRES

ANDRE DAUNAIS RETIRES

After 11 seasons played, 122 goals, 122 assists (believe it or not), 244 points in 235 games played and one ROHA championship, Andre "Redline" Daunais has called it quits. In a short e-mail to his coach Mark Mailloux after last Wednesday's night game, Andre thanked his coach, his team and all the other players in ROHA for all the great memories. It is just his time. He says he will see us all at the Christmas party. You will always be welcomed back Andre. Best Cherrypicker ever. Always a great team mate. Thanks and good luck..... Adam Cox will replace Andre full time on White for the balance of the season. Welcome aboard Adam and good luck with Mailloux....Guestbook news. esportsdesk.com has decided to shut down their Guestbook because of spam e-mails that are disrupting their website. Peter Miller And Justin Lachapelle have offered to become the administrators of the ROHA Facebook page that Marc Emond started a couple of years ago. They will upload all of our shootout videos. You can post whatever you want, just like the Guestbook except now we know who you are reddog. Stats will continue to be posted on this website. That is it boys. See you at the rink.

THE GUEST BOOK

Just to let everyone know that the Guestbook has been shut down by esportsdesk.com and not by ROHA. There will be a bulletin board put up in our locker and you are welcome to post all insults to other players there.

TOMMY BOY

TOMMY BOY

Tommy Boy Dickson and his knee have finally come to terms with each other. If his knee locks up one more time, either his team mates or his physio are going to do him in. You can only pull up to one border crossing on your Harley and tell them to "fill it up" one time in your life and get away with it. (Best Pond Hockey story ever). You can't push it for ever. Tom's knee has finally had enough. He will have it operated on as soon as he can but in the mean time he is out. Scott Hannah will replace Tom on the Gold team until Tom can return. Welcome Scott for the 2nd time as he replaced Steve Allard last year. Tom, we all love ya buddy, and hope you have a speedy recovery. Hope to see you at the rink when you can make it. It is always tough to watch but the beer is free.

TIGHT AT THE TOP

TIGHT AT THE TOP

Wow!! Closest start in a few years. Three point differential between 1st and 4th. Last nights 0-0 tie was the 1st time that has happened in ROHA history. It was pretty cool to see almost every player from the 1st game yelling and cheering for both teams in the 2nd game. Hats off to both James and Bernie for the shutouts. They stopped everything that came their way. They were the 2 stars in an a fast paced up and down game. I wouldn't want to watch the tape but it sure felt like we were all moving pretty quick...Justin Lachapelle rippin it up with 21 points in 7 games.... Chris Paul, 11 goals, 0 assists. Praying he can play one shift with Phil so Chris has a chance for his first assist of the year. Only 2 guys scoring for Gold....Yes that's right Gold. Calder's Gold. Calder in 1st place again? On his way to a 3rd consecutive championship? No chance Ronnie is coming his way this year. Is Calder the Scotty Bowman of ROHA?... Does Blue have the best room in ROHA this year? They all close Cunny's most Wednesdays....Mailloux has taken all the heat as the rookie coach but his team White has hung in tight with last years scoring champ Pete Thompson and perennial doughnut champ Andre Daunais on the side lines....Stand-up Red coach Marc Emond drafted a team of ROHA veterans. All time ROHA scoring leader Tony Ellis has yet to score a goal but Red are 1 win out of 1st place.... Great to see such a close start boys. Keep it up. This is the way it is supposed to be.

WELCOME TO ROHA 2013-2014

WELCOME TO ROHA 2013-2014

Three weeks to draft day. Four weeks and we're on the ice. Six weeks and Krindle will be complaining about Calders team being too strong. Ten weeks and guaranteed we'll have ten guys wishing they we're drafted by Mailloux. Twelve weeks and Calder will be saying " See I told you we should have 2 seasons". Fifteen weeks in and Ronnie will be knocking down the door to replace Al....... ROHA is back for our 18th season....... Thank you Mr. "How you doing" past president Tony Certosini for a job well done, in a very interesting year last year. Welcome Jim Donnelly for his 3rd tour as president of the ROHA Executive Committee. Jim, unlike Tony, rules with the Iron Fist. Step out of line and you'll be watching from the sidelines for a week or two..... You should have received the e-mail from Norm by now, letting us all know the important dates for this year. Wednesday, August 21st is draft day at the Chateau. The following Wednesday, August 28th is game one of the 2013-2014 season..... Thank you Mike De Filippo for standing up and being a captain in ROHA for the past few years. Mike will move into the Executive Committee as Off-ice Coordinator. Mark Mailloux will become a team captain, joining Calder, Emond and Krindle as the four team captains for this year. Ya, ya, I know, none of us want to be drafted by Mailloux this year. I get it. Just suck it up for Christ's sake and maybe he will let you wear an 'A'..... Welcome back Stan Tranter who is returning after a year off. Ryan Smith and Jean Marceau will take another year off due to injury, and Rob Rowe has thanks for the memories. The spares will now anxiously wait to see who is back again ths year. Should have all the answers in the next 2 weeks. Please get your checks to Norm as soon as you can and please let him know if you are playing this year. Bernie Quigly will replace Ronnie as goalie this year. Bernie has been sparing in ROHA for years and we are all happy to have him aboard.... See you in two weeks at the Chat to get this thing going. Have a great year boys.

WHITE WIN CHAMPIONSHIP

WHITE WIN CHAMPIONSHIP

Congratulations to the White team on a well deserved 2012-2013 ROHA league and playoff championship. Only the 4th team ever in 17 years of ROHA hockey to accomplish the double whammy. It was definitely one of the best finals in years. Three lead changes, three short handed goals, three goals from George, and White taking the lead for the final time with only three and a half minutes left. Nice to see so many ROHA players and family and friends out to support both teams. Congratulations again to all the players on White except Kim who missed the final for the second year in a row because he can't get his vacation schedule together. Thanks Ryan for filling in again.....Golf tournament May 4th. See you there.

WEBSITE UP AND RUNNING AGAIN

WEBSITE UP AND RUNNING AGAIN

Thanks for everyone's patience during the shut down. White advances to the ROHA final and Blue and Gold will duke it out in the semi final at 9:45 on Monday. Yes 9:45 and not 8:30. The Ligues des 4 has their final game on Monday April 15th at 8:30. Let's hope they don't go into overtime like last year. Stu will be giving out free chilli to all the ROHA players and their friends and family at our final game. It is his way of saying thanks to all of us for supporting him this year. Thanks Stu. You are an institution at ROHA. Golf tournament and awards night is Saturday, May 4th at the Reviere Rouge Golf and Cuntry Club. Not Mother's Day weekend Edward so hope to see you all there. Justin, Peter Miller and Steve Allard are putting together this event again this year. This event is included in your annual dues so you have already paid so to speak. Get your 4somes together and let Norm or Justin know your groups. If you are not in a 4some already, don't worry about it, just show up and we will work it all out at the the club. This is our awards night guys and final event of the year. This event is open to all players, spares and friend of ROHA. Hope to see you all there.

HERE WE GO

HERE WE GO

Before I get to the various playoff scenarios I would like to congratulate, on behalf of all of us from ROHA, Jim Easter and his girlfriend on the birth of their son Zachary. Born at 14:04 on the 4th day of the 4th month. Jim says he has Bobby Orr written all over him. I heard that on the way out little Zach was serving up some good lip to the hospital staff. "Hey bitch is that your sponge? Is that your sponge bitch? Less looking more wiping. Pick it up bitch. Hey doc, stop staring at my mom's pussy. Focus on me. More on me ya jackass. Cut that cord wrong and we're going right now ya quack. You fuck up that foreskin cut and make me look like my old man I'll drop ya right now. Anytime. I am ready to go right now."....Yup, the nut doesn't fall far from the tree. Congratulations Jimmy Boy.....Well here we go again. ROHA down to the last week of the round robin and both games are big. It goes like this. If Gold wins and White loses Gold will go straight to the final. If Gold win and White tie, Gold will go straight to the final as they have a better record over White in the round robin. If Blue wins or ties they advance to the semi final and Red goes home as Blue has a better record against Red in the round robin.. If Gold Blue tie and White loses White advances to the final with more wins than Gold. If Blue lose and Red win, Red will go to the semi final and Blue will go home. That should do it. Good luck to all teams next week as this should be the biggest week of the season so far.

Final standings

Final standings

I will write a notice tonight and update playoff schedule tonight but for now congratulations to Pierre and the White team on finishing 1st overall in the 2012-2013 regular season. Congratulations to Peter Thompson on winning his 1st ROHA scoring title. Congratulations to Claude Brabant on having the best GAA average. The standings are correct. Blue edges out Gold for third place overall. Same amount of points and wins so it comes down to team vs. team in regular season play. Blue won the season series 6 games to 2. More to come but I gotta go to work......

IS WHITE THE GREATEST TEAM IN ROHA HISTORY????

IS WHITE THE GREATEST TEAM IN ROHA HISTORY????

As White captain Pierre Calder and his White team wrap up the 2012-2013 league championship for the 2nd straight year, one wonders if they are the greatest team ever in ROHA. If you listen to Pierre or any player that plays for White, they will tell you that not only will they win this years regular season championship but they will win it all in the playoffs and yes they are the greatest team ever to take the ice in ROHA history. Well maybe and maybe not. There are 2 era's in ROHA. From 1996 to 2002 (old era) we had a 3 game round robin playoff, with the top 2 teams playing in the final game. From 2003 to the present (modern era) we have a six game round robin playoff with a semi final and a final game. Pre 2003 teams played 3 more regular season games than they play now so there are really 2 sets of stats. White go into the final week of the regular season with 37pts. Most all time points by a team in the regular season is 41 points. Red in 98/99 , 31 games played, and Black in 02/03 with 29 games played. In the modern era there are 3 teams that have notched 37 pts in a season. White have 37 pts going into the last week of the season so if they win next week they will set the record for the modern day era for pts for a team with 39. Very impressive. Not an all time record but with at least 3 less games played than the old era, I'd say pretty good. White have scored 167 goals so far this year. The all time record for most goals scored by a team was the 2001/2002 Red team with 169 goals for. Top scorers for Red were the unstoppable combo of Andre Tremblay and Chris Marsh that year. White needs to score only 3 measly goals in their final game this year to break the all time record for goals scored by a team in the regular season. Should be a no brainer. Again very impressive. White have only 6 losses this year. Over the years in both era's, 5 different teams have lost only 7 games in a year, so if White win their final game they will beat the all time record with the fewest losses in a season ever in ROHA. Again very impressive. White gave up Al for Ronnie (sorry Magog), half way through the season. They have 5 of the top 7 scorers in ROHA this year. Pierre has not even declared this season "The Year of the Calder". George had his bod on the ticket for the winter poker / skills competition party dressed only in a speedo. Ronnie is drinking full beers instead of halfs and apparently trashed his GPS, so no way he is going to Magog for the playoffs. White is everywhere. Cossette says he will not duck the playoffs like other years and Bourre quit his snow clearing job with a promise to score his second goal of the year. The hardest working guy in ROHA, Peter Snell, has endured yet another year as a 3rd line center without saying a word. Craig Burnett brought his new girl friend to the game this week and left her alone in the stands until the end of the 2nd period of the 2nd game so he could hang out in the dressing room with the boys on White. That takes ROHA balls. Peter Thompson has been a rock all year. New attitude, new game. Freight Train Phil Vauclair is leading the way again and with stand out rookies Jacques and Fernando White look pretty good. Fill the roster out with Matty Pittaro, Dave Lister and Chris Marsh and ya, White may be the greatest team of all. But if you don't win your last game and don't score your 3 goals to set the record, then fuck all of you. Just another team. Just saying....

THANKYOU JUSTIN

THANKYOU JUSTIN

On behalf of all of ROHA, thanks Justin and all of the guys that gave a little of their time to make this such a great event. The turnout was amazing. I left at 3AM and I heard some guy even pulled in at 4AM, hockey went until 5AM and some guys were still there at 6AM, 3 guys had there way with the bartender, 2 with Steve Allard in Justins bed, Todd looked better in nets than Ronnie, a spectacular diving entrance by George midway through the shinny, no one got too hurt playing shinny and yes we were short on rum again. Thank God for Honey Jack. A quiet day watching TV for most ROHA players on Sunday. Thanks again Justin for opening up your home to the league for a great night. Can we do it again this weekend?

GUESTBOOK ALIVE AND KICKING

GUESTBOOK ALIVE AND KICKING

Blue quitting, shit refs, Calder and Haney running around half naked, Desmarais carved up better than Stu's pulled pork. The Guest Book has never been this busy since Mailloux checked in to the Schizophrenic ward at the Douglas. Nice to see. Who cares about all that hockey crap. Only one week to go until the infamous ROHA Poker Night and Skills Competition. Saturday, January 26th at Centre Lachapelle. Tickets are printed and will be passed out this week. Free food, free booze, giant outdoor screen, skills competition, poker game and maybe the best ROHA night of the year. All players and all spares and any friends that you would like to bring out are all welcome. The one freebee Norm gives us every year. There will be 2 drivers to drive home anyone that should not be driving. ROHA will pick this up. Boys this is a great night to get together with the guys that you play with this year and the guys you played with in years gone by. Last blow out before the playoffs. See you there.

ANNUAL ROHA POKER NIGHT BLOWOUT

ANNUAL ROHA POKER NIGHT BLOWOUT

After last years amazing ROHA poker night / skills competition / boot hockey game till 3AM / drinking contest, Justin Lachapelle has agreed to do it all over again. With the great winter weather that we have been getting Justin has guaranteed even better ice than last year. Saturday, January 26th is the date to mark on your calender. Even Tim Lawson says he is coming this year. OK I made that part up but it is the best attended event that we have every year. With a few new twists on the skills competition is should be even better than last year. Tickets will be printed and distributed in the next couple of weeks and I will update the site as we get closer to the date. This is a event not to miss.

HRS POKER FUNDRAISER

HRS POKER FUNDRAISER

A late notice but better late than never. Claude Brabant, the famous Red goaltender, has asked me to post a notice for his sons Novice B hockey team poker fundraiser. The HRS Novice B and Peewee B hockey teams are hosting a Texas Hold'em poker tournament at the St. Lazare Community Center tomorrow night, Friday, Jan. 4th at 7PM. The buy in is only $40, a great deal I might add. There will be a silent auction and tons of raffle prizes. Everyone will leave with something. Come on out and support one of the ROHA family and maybe go home a winner on a Friday night instead of a Wednesday night.

Shane Murphy at the Chateau

Shane Murphy at the Chateau

If you guys are not busy this coming Saturday, Dec. 15th come and catch an absolutely tremendous blues rock band at the Chateau du Lac in Hudson. Shane Murphy just had his 3rd CD launch at Club Soda last week and has just got off a tour in France. He also opened for ZZ Top this summer in Montreal. Many of you have already seen him and know how good he is. Show starts at 10PM. This one is worth catching if you can.

CHRISTMAS PARTY UPDATE

CHRISTMAS PARTY UPDATE

This years Christmas Party is on Wed. Dec 19th at the Chateau du Lac. Stu will be putting out the 1st Christmas dinner of the year for all the boys in ROHA. All players and spares, whether you play that night or not, are cordially invited to our annual post game celebration. Half game or full game you ask? Voting too close to call. So here is the deal. Games will be 3 periods, 15 minutes stop time instead of our regular 17 minute stop time. 2 minute warm up instead of 5. 30 seconds between periods instead of our regular one minute. First game starts at 8:30 like usual and 2nd game starts at 9:45. We saw off half an hour off of our total time. We only pay for the time we use and this should make everybody happy. We almost get our complete games in and everyone gets to the party early. I realize that most of you could really give a shit, but in the true Christmas spirit, ROHA is always trying to make everyone go home with a smile. This is always a fun night. Point Zero 8 will be available to help anyone who needs help. Bernie will be passing out their cards. Hope to see you all there.

HI LIGHTS, LOW LIGHTS AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN

HI LIGHTS, LOW LIGHTS AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN

Not much on the Notice Board so far this year so time to do some catching up..... High light. This past Wednesday, #24 Gold, Mark Goldstein, finally scored his first ROHA goal. After wallowing around as a lowly C spare for the past 3 years and dishing out shitty blow jobs to Kim or any other Exec member who asked for one, Mark finally became a regular player this year. Eleven games into the season he casually drifts in front of White goaltender, Al Smith when Mike De Filippos's shot bounces off Goldy's fat ass right into the net. The puck was fished out of the net and apparently now sits on Mark's mantle at his home. His one lonely trophy surrounded by all of his wife's and kids accomplishments. Congratulations Mark. See you in another 3 years pal....Low light. Ron Pasquini's GAA is fucking higher than the Montreal Alouettes PA. Blue have the 2nd highest goals scored per game in the league but are bottoming out in last place. Blue pretty much has to score 7 a game to have a chance. Ron, with only one win this year, must be building his own shack in Magog. What is up with that? Is this Ron's last year? Is he holding out for Krindle to offer him a better contract or at least trade for some defenceman that can actually block a shot? Is Mac Power coming out of retirement? Is Brophy moving back to town? Stay tuned for the outcome of this sad story. Trust me, Calder is dusting off his old Laval Chiefs sweater to take on the 1st Exec member that says the word trade....High light. Thompson, Vauclair, Lachapelle, Calder and rookie Jacques Boudreau tearing up the scoresheets. All 5 players are scoring more than 2 points per game. Now to be fair and honest, they all have my home phone number and my line is burning up every Thursday morning but nothing new there....Low light. Steve Allard has informed Red captain Marc Emond that he is done for the season. Steve is one of the toughest competitors and teammates that I have ever known in both hockey and softball. If he says he is hurting, than he is hurting. Steve has developed arthritis in both hips and the pain the next day is too tough to cope with. He has informed us that he has an MRI scheduled in the near future and hopefully an operation early in the new year that will hopefully clear thing up and get him back on the pond as soon as possible. Steve is a Red to the end and will be out from time to time to spare. Best of luck Stevie boy. You are a true friend and team mate to us all. Please do not be a stranger and know that your spot in ROHA will always be there for you. Just say the word....High light. Calder is finally trying this year. Is this finally the Year of the Calder? Calder, Calder, Calder. The continuous chants from the rafters of the House Of Pain, the Laval Coliseum, where our own Pierre was a feared pugilist and fan favourite with the Laval Chiefs for many years in the Quebec Senior Hockey League. Callgirl, Callgirl, Callgirl. The continuous chants for years from the rafters of the Barn in Rigaud as Pierre coughed up the puck game after game coming out of his own end. Those lazy skates up the ice with the puck and then the big blast that wobbled 3 feet over the net. Not this year boys. He has something to prove. Pierre can skate like Paul Coffey. He has drafted one of the strongest teams ever in ROHA. While the other captains made all their trades on draft day, Pierre just said no, and stuck with the team he dreamed about all summer. He handed the room off to Phil Vauclair because no one listened to him anyway, and the fact that he arrives 2 minutes before the puck is dropped and look at him go. With Brophy out of town and Todd out of his mind with Ronnie, Pierre is heading for the ROHA triple crown. Best D, League MVP and Playoff Champion....Low light. Is Brian Penny playing this year? 44th in scoring this year and he does the stats. What the fuck!!! Ya that's right I am talking in the 3rd person but someone has to say something. One goal in 9 games. A perennial top 20 scorer. He grew up in Hudson as a hockey star so he can't even go to the IGA in Hudson because of the continual barrage of questions. Did you finally stop playing? Are you a goalie now? Did you get hurt you pussy? Enough is enough. How much can one man take? Hey Ronnie, can you put another bedroom in that place you are building in Magog?....High light. Jim Donnelly. Son of a bitch. 80 years old and 14th in scoring. Unbelievable. After hiding out as a D the last couple of years, Gold coach Mike De Filippo puts Donnelly up front with Tony Ellis, explains to Donnelly what the net actually looks like and off he goes. Five goals in 11 games. Keep it up Jim. It looks great on you....That is it boys. We all see that the standings are not as close as other years. Sometimes it is like that. Let's all ride it out a while longer and see what happens. ROHA has seen many mid season changes over the years so you never know what can happen. Sit tight Blue and watch out White because we are all gunning for you. Have fun. ROHA, the best league around.

2012-2013 SEASON KICKS OFF WEDNESDAY AGUGUST 29TH

2012-2013 SEASON KICKS OFF WEDNESDAY AGUGUST 29TH

This years draft is done, the rosters are posted and we are ready to go for our 17th ROHA season. Heavy trading draft night and maybe more to come. Blair "Suitcase" MacDonald was traded twice in a span of 15 minutes. Oh what it is to be loved. Stu will be hosting a BBQ tailgate party at the barn next Wednesday night. Lots of food to go with the beer. Unlike Johnny Boy, Stu will be there.Good luck to all teams and have a great year. Who won last year anyways?

BROPHY TRADED TO CALGARY

BROPHY TRADED TO CALGARY

Long time ROHA star defenceman and Executive Member, Paul Brophy has been dealt to a Calgary based Oldtimer hockey league for a 4th round draft pick in 2014. Brophy demanded the Exec trade him after again losing out to perennial Norris winner Todd Brochu voted on by his peers. Brophy stated "I come 2 mins before every game, drink half the beer in the cooler and always 2 fist the beer at every ROHA party. What more do you want? I wear that ridiculous yellow helmet and have the shortest skating stride of any player on the planet, so everyone will notice me on the ice, yet I get no respect. I even passed to Norm once." Other potential cities on Brophy's list were Toronto and Quebec City. "I found out that there were virtually no hockey teams in Toronto and too many peppers in Quebec City that would not offer me a job so fuck them both and I am off to Calgary. I am the Cammalleri of oldtimer hockey." Good luck Broph.........On a serious note the Executive Committee and all the players in ROHA will miss you. Your leadership and skill on the ice is respected by us all Paul. Your contribution as a captain and Executive member will be thoroughly missed by us all. We wish you all the luck in your move to Calgary and know that you will always have a place in ROHA. Thanks for being a great friend.

SUMMER MEETING AT GARAGE CERTO

SUMMER MEETING AT GARAGE CERTO

President Tony Certosini, the 1st Italian ROHA president, held this years annual summer meeting at the famous Garage Certo. The den of inequity. Man can he cook. Even diet Norm had seconds. Not a lot of changes this year. Players dues will remain the same as the last 2 years which is always a good thing. The Christmas party game will be a full length game. 19 votes for the full game 16 got the shorter game and 20 guys didn't vote. Let's give it a try and see what happens. Claude Brabant will be back between the pipes this year. Kim will play forward again and hopefully Dave Taylor will be back. The big announcement is that grizzled ROHA forward Bill McGratten is calling it quits. Bill has been a big part of our league for over 10 years. Never complained about anything except Glenn Dow, who everyone complained about so no big deal. Everyone in ROHA has had a little taste of Bill on the boards. Never dirty but always there. Thanks Bill and best of luck. Don't be a stranger at the rink or at the annual poker game. The 2012-2013 schedule will be posted soon and draft day is only 6 weeks away. Norm will be e-mailing everyone in the next week or so with a letter of commitment for the upcoming season and to try to collect a little money. Please get your checks in as soon as possible like you all do every year. I am sending this notice from my phone on vacation in the Rideau Lakes. I will notify everyone about draft day and our starting date when I gave a calendar in front of me. Have a great summer

WHITE WIN FINAL

WHITE WIN FINAL

Congratulations to Pierre Calder and the White team for their brilliant and dominating 8-3 win over the Gold team in the ROHA final championship game on Wednesday, April 18th at the Barn in Rigaud. They dominated the game from the beginning and become the 3rd team in the history of ROHA to win both the regular season and the playoff championship. Congratulations to the entire White team. You certainly deserved what you achieved....Just a reminder that the annual ROHA golf tournament and awards ceremony is on Saturday, May 5th at the Riviere Rouge Golf and Country club. This event is covered in your annual dues so come on out and get your moneys worth. All friends and spares are welcome. For all non-regulars, $60 bucks includes your golf, dinner and a free beer. Hope to see you all there.

SEASON OVER FOR RED

SEASON OVER FOR RED

This weeks games coming up, are just for fun. White has advanced to the ROHA final game on Wednesday, April 18th, and Black and Gold will play each other on Monday, April 16th in the semi final with the winner advancing to the final against White. Red,.... well,..... na na na na, na na na na, hey hey, goodbye. Gold can tie White for total points in the round robin playoff if Gold wins and White loses this week but White beat Gold in both round robin games so they automatically clinch 1st overall. Should be fun. Just a reminder that the annual ROHA awards ceremony and golf tournament at Riviere Rouge, will be played on Saturday, May 5th. This event has already been prepaid in your dues so make up a foursome and come on out. Spares and friends are more than welcome. Justin Lachapelle and Peter Miller have stepped up to run the event this year. Thanks guys. If you or your company can sponsor a hole for $100 or provide us with a prize or two it would be much appreciated. Talk to Justin, Peter or Norm to confirm your 4-some as soon as possible so that we can let the golf course and caterer know how many guys we have. This event is usually the home opener for most guys golf game of the season and is never taken too seriously. Always a good time. Stu's birthday this Wednesday. Just saying.....

PLAYOFF UPDATE

PLAYOFF UPDATE

As usual it is a scramble for the semi finals and the bye to the final game. Because of all the possibilities that exit I will make this brief and update again next week. With 2 games to play for each team there is only 1 certainty. White and Black will advance to the semi final game. Red and Gold can make the semi finals depending on what happens next Wednesday and whether Ronnie is in Rigaud or Magog. Red needs some help and Gold can make it on their own. If Black beats Gold and Red beats White this week then it will come down to the final week between Red and Gold. Red had to scramble for every inch of ice last night but they kept their playoff hopes alive with a 2-2 tie against Black. Should be a fun next week. Gotta love ROHA

PLAYOFFS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER

PLAYOFFS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER

The regular season wraps up tomorrow night, Feb. 29th 2012. Congratulations to Pierre Calder and his White team on winning the ROHA regular season championship. The most dreaded trophy in ROHA. Only twice before have teams that won the regular season gone on to win the ROHA Playoff Championship. White are probably the most balanced team in ROHA this year and if any team can win both regular season and playoffs it could well be White. The standings will not change no matter who wins tomorrow night so Black will finish 2nd, Red 3rd and Gold 4th. This year there will be no "Team Franchise Players" as we will allowing spares to play in the playoffs. All players must be replaced whether they are 'A", 'B' or 'C' players. We have ranked all spares individually and the Executive Committee will meet with the captains after the second game tomorrow night to explain exactly how our spare replacement process will work. The captains have already been e-mailed the spare rankings and a brief overview as to how the system works. In the spirit of ROHA, we ask all players to please contact their captain as soon as possible if they know they will be missing in any playoff game. This system will not work if guys just don't show up or take off to Magog without letting their captains know. Playoffs start next week so get your final tuneup games in tomorrow night.. Good luck to all teams.

THANKYOU JUSTIN

THANKYOU JUSTIN

This notice should have been up a week ago. Never too late I hope. The entire Executive Committee and all players and spares would like to thank you Justin for an absolutely amazing evening. Glenn has always hosted a great night over the years but this was above and beyond. Guys basically had to be dragged off the ice at 3:00AM in the morning. I think anybody who stepped on your rink for boot hockey or for the skills competition relived a bit of their youth that night. What a blast. Yes you can host the party next year. I realize that alot of people chipped in throughout the day and night to help you out and a big thanks to all of them. The fireside big screen TV outside so that we could watch the NHL skills competition as we held our own skill competition was a great touch. Thanks Peter Miller and Kim for all the effort you put in to that. The bar with all the ROHA sweaters and other memorabilia was also a great touch. The poker was interesting as usual and the food and booze was plentiful. Everyone had a great time. Thanks again for being a great host.

JUSTIN'S ADDRESS

Tomorrow night is the annual poker party, as you all know. Just in case you need it. Justin's Poker Palace and Arena is located at 2835 Place Winner, St. Lazare, Qc. J7T 2B1 in the Saddlebrook area of St. Lazare. Hope to see you all there.

POKER PARTY UPDATE

POKER PARTY UPDATE

Our annual Poker Party is a little more than one week away. Saturday, January 28th at Justins home in Saddlebrook. As well as the regular poker game we will be having a ROHA skills competition. This will not be on skates as half the guys can't skate anyways so we can only image what would happen with a few beers in us. Bring your boots and your stick and we will supply the rest. Tickets will be given very soon with the details and the address. Chris Marsh calls this the Best Damn Party that ROHA throws. Word is out Glenn Dow may even make an appearance. It is always alot of fun and a great turnout. Stu will be supplying the grub and ROHA a keg of beer. Talk it up boys. The more the merrier. If you have a buddy you want to bring, go ahead. We also hope to see all of our spares there too so we can take a little more money from them at the poker table. Should be a good night.

POKER PARTY & ALLSTAR SKILLS COMPETITION

POKER PARTY & ALLSTAR SKILLS COMPETITION

The annual ROHA poker party is coming real fast. Just like Haney in the sack. This years party will be held in only 3 weeks. Saturday January 28st. There are various other events that ROHA players are involved in such as Blair MacDonald's fundraiser poker night and the annual trip to Pond Hockey which will have at least 3 teams from ROHA going this year, so we did not have alot of choices for the date of the poker party. Justin Lachapelle will be hosting this years event at his home / arena. Saturday, Jan 28th is the NHL All Star skills competition so along with the regular poker games and 2 fisting beer like Broph all night, we will be having a small hockey tournament and a skills competition on his outdoor rink, which will be is pristine condition for the event. Justin's lackey, Fern, has been sucking up, I mean helping out Justin with the ice and Fern has promised it will be just like the Bell Center ice for us on the 28th. Stu will be on hand to feed everyone and there will be a keg of beer from Beau's Brewery all paid for by ROHA. It is always the high light party of the year and all players spares are welcome. More info to follow but try to set this date aside and you may make enough money at the tables to pay for your year on the ice.

FOOD AND HOCKEY EQUIPMENT NEEDED

FOOD AND HOCKEY EQUIPMENT NEEDED

With the ROHA Christmas party tomorrow night, Al Smith has asked me to remind everyone to bring either new or used hockey equipment or any non perishable food items to Cunninghams tomorrow night. Al has a few families that have nothing to eat or presents to give for this Christmas. If we all do a little it will mean a lot to these families in our area. Thanks in advance......A couple people have e-mailed me to say that the guest book is down. I have not been on it for a few days so I have no idea when it went down. I did not turn it off. This has happened before. I will get in touch with the people that run the website when I have time and get it back up and running. In the mean time for the 1 or 2 assholes that continue to leave a fake name and put down all the decisions that the Exec make, if you are in withdrawal and need a fix, please feel free to put a paper bag over your head at the party, so no one knows who you are and tell us to fuck off in person.

ROHA ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY FAST APPROACHING

ROHA ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY FAST APPROACHING

First snow of the year this week and our thoughts turn towards Christmas. No, not the gifts and the turkey, turkey. The ROHA annual Christmas party. Wednesday, Dec. 14th is the date and Cunningham's Pub in Hudson is the place. We like to change things up a little once in awhile so this year we are moving the party to Cunningham's. We would like to thank Peter Thompson and the Chateau du Lac bar for all the fun and great Xmas parties they held for us and I am sure we will be back.....Wings and nachos and pizza and a great deal on beer is the menu for the night. Games will be 1 hour long so don't forget to get there a little early for the late game. Steve Allard demanded we play only the hour game and not the full game and when Steve talks ROHA listens. There will be a buffet set up and ready to go at 11:30 on the second floor at Cunningham's, that will be open only to ROHA players and all of our spares, who are always encouraged to join us, even if you don't play that night. This is always the best party of the year so book off Thursday morning and stay late. Nez Rouge will be available for all those guys that have more than a couple.....Great news that Johnny Marceau is back home and doing well. Again, thanks to all the guys that took a little extra time to be with Johnny that night. We have a great family. Hope to see you at the rink soon Johnny Boy. Fern will be taking Johnny's place on D for Black for the rest of the year. Fern you can now bury that Voodoo doll shrine that you have had in your basement for the last couple of years. You are in man so stop texting Kim and stop praying for injuries. Welcome aboard Fern....Ryan van Reese will replace Doc Lawson for 8 weeks as Doc is recovering from a hernia operation. Hope all went well Tim and we will see you at the Xmas party. By the way it is your round....That's it boys. See ya Wednesday.

UPDATE ON JOHNNY

UPDATE ON JOHNNY

I spoke with Nicole (Jean Marceau's wife) at about 8AM this morning. Johnny suffered a heart attack last night at the rink. He is resting in stable condition at the l'Institute de Cardiologie in Montreal. The doctors found a blockage in the lower part of his heart and they inserted a shunt into one of the arteries last night. They have found a couple of other areas of concern in other arteries and will follow up with tests today. Jean is conscious and understandably a little scared. It is not a great situation but he seems to be out of danger. Nicole has asked that he not receive visitors today as he is very tired and will be undergoing various tests throughout the day. I have asked Nicole to let us know if there is anything that we can do but for the moment she is fine. I would like to thank Tim Lawson on behalf of all players in ROHA for just being there to reassure Johnny last night. He is just a player like the rest of us but he had to work last night and that is above and beyond. Great job by Marc, Paul, Claude and the guys that stayed with Johnny in the dressing room throughout the ordeal. As usual the situation remained calm and the family of ROHA was there when a good buddy needed them. It is never a fun time when something like this happens but it is sure good to know we are all there to help each other when needed.

ROHA NIGHT AT THE CHATEAU DU LAC

ROHA NIGHT AT THE CHATEAU DU LAC

Every Wednesday night we play a little hockey, eat a sandwich from Stu, drink a couple of beers in the room until they flick the lights, and then we hang out in the parking lot for just a little while longer. Hard to let the night go sometimes. Can't wait for next Wednesday. Seems so long sometimes. So why not get together on a Saturday night. Fuck thing up a little bit.... Saturday, November 19th, at the Chateau du Lac in Hudson, the Shane Murphy Blues band is in town. If you have not seen this band you are missing something special. They played at the Vancouver Olympics, the Montreal Jazzfest, and the Ottawa and Mont Tremblant Blues festival. Peter Thompson, manager of the Chat, has invited us all for a night out with our wives, girlfriends, team mates, buddies, and Jason's 10% to a ROHA party on a Saturday night. It's a $5 cover. But for all ROHA guys and their friends, Sleemans and Moosehead bottles, pints, and pitchers of beer, will be at a special price. Pete will be behind the bar so there might even be the odd shooter that comes your way if you feel he kinda fell down a little easy on that hook you gave him last week. This is a great band that you won't get a chance to see that often at a local bar like the Chat. This will be a fun night out in the middle of the season. Hope to see you all there.

ONE QUARTER THE WAY THROUGH THE SEASON

ONE QUARTER THE WAY THROUGH THE SEASON

Seven games into our 16th season update. Larouche replaced Taylor. Bourre replaced Labrie. Desmarais replaced Calder. Gordon replaced Sauvageau. McCole replaced Snell. Boudreau replaced George (faker). Renaud replaced Brabant. Bobby Orr replaced Gary Mailloux. Oh sorry, that was his dream. In reality Andrew Marsh would replace Gary Mailloux, but that it really a whole other guest book story with himself.... The "Year of the Replacement".....Only 2 points separate 1st place from 4th place in the standings.... Only 9 goals for, and 9 goals against separate the 4 teams in scoring in ROHA this year. Not bad..... A 20 player shoot out last night. How cool is that or maybe how embarrassing is that. Can't wait to see that video on our web site..... Top 6 scorers include 4 players that have previously won the scoring championship. Two rookies in the top 10 scorers. Tim Lawson and Brian Tremblay in the top scorers. Nice to see 2 of the stalwarts of ROHA showing what they got....Jim Donnelly, thanks for all the great columns in the Hudson Gazette. Always funny and read by more people than you know. I still get shit every time I walk into the IGA in Hudson for not being in the top scorers and word is out Allard is not getting laid for the exact same reason....Thanks to the Burnett clan for Souvlaki Night last night. Bad breath day for most ROHA players at the office today...Tougher day for all of Brian Tremblay"s patients after he took a mean slash on his cavity filling arm last night....Thanks to Stu for hanging in and feeding us every week. The idiot comments on the guest book talking about Stu are not from the real Stu who just loves being a part of ROHA. Trust me on this. He does it for all of us and not for himself. He is as much a part of ROHA as any of us....On November 19th at the Chateau du Lac is our 1st ROHA night out of the year. Shane Murphy, a friend of both Stu and myself and a great Blues guy from Montreal who has played at the Vancouver Olympics, the Montreal, Ottawa, and Mont Tremblant Blues festival is showing off his stuff. This guy is worth seeing. He has 3 great CD's out and it should be a great night. More info to come on this...That's it boys. So far so good. See you at the rink.

DRAFT NIGHT A GREAT SUCCESS

DRAFT NIGHT A GREAT SUCCESS

The teams for our 16th season of ROHA have been unveiled. Thank you to Tony Certosini for a very funny job as MC last night. Best entrance of the night goes to Greg Haney with a great Stevie Wonder imitation. Nice hat Sheriff Brophy. We would like to take this opportunity to welcome Marc Larouche and Marc Desmarais into our league. Both have been spares for a number of years and have paid their dues. Marc Desmarais will replace Pierre until Pierre is back on his blades. We all know this is a major upgrade but we may as well start the controversies right away. The teams and schedules are posted on this site. White and Black play at 8:30PM and Red and Gold faceoff at 10:00PM next Wednesday, Aug. 30th. Stu will be hosting our annual tailgate party in the parking lot to kick the season off right. We will be going with the same refs as last year and Roger will be back for his 16th year as our score keeper. Have a great year everybody and good luck to all.

2011-2012 SEASON ABOUT TO BEGIN

2011-2012 SEASON ABOUT TO BEGIN

Hard to believe that we have our first game of the season in just 2 weeks. The annual ROHA summer draft will be held Wednesday, August 24th at the Chateau du Lac as usual. The draft will start at 7PM. The teams will be announced and the battle begins. This is the best chance to start ass kissing your new captain to get yourself on the top line. I hear Mailloux has already reserved his seat as he tries to convince his captain that it really was him that gave Todd last years Norris Trophy. Word is also out that Cossette in now only a 1st liner after his outstanding year last year. Haney is probably outstanding in his field. Nothing ever really changes. John Labrie will be taking a year off as will Dave Taylor. However Pierre Calder is still nursing a bad back and Dave has agreed to replace Pierre until Pierre can return. Everyone else is back in. It will be great to see Greg Haney back in a ROHA uniform. The schedule is already posted on this site and if you are not at the draft please check this site to find out what team you are on and when you play. This is our 16th year. The last 15 have been alot of fun and I am sure this year will be too. Hope to see you at the draft. Let the games begin.

SUMMER MEETING UPDATE

SUMMER MEETING UPDATE

the ROHA Exec met at Greg Haney's barn for our annual summer meeting. We would like to welcome Paul Brophy on to the Executive Committee. Paul will be in charge of all On-Ice activities. Al Smith will be back for his 3rd term as league President for the 2011-2012 season. Paul Brophy and Carl Poirier are both stepping down as captains. ROHA thanks both of you for a great job and the time that you have put in to make the league a little better. Dave Krindle and Marc Emond will be the 2 new captains this year along with returning captains Mike De Fillippo and Pierre Calder. A complete list of the Executive Committee and captains is available in the Board of Directors section of this web site....Dave Taylor and John Labrie are both taking this year off due to travel complications with their work. We hope to see both guys out as spares this year and hope they both make it back to ROHA sooner than later. Their replacements this year will be Kim Bourre, who will play as a forward this year and Marc Larouche who has been a very active spare in ROHA for the last 3 or 4 years. James Labre will replace Kim as a full time goalie. At this time we know of no one else that is leaving....All rules in the league will remain the same as last year with the possible exception of "spares in the playoffs". We have started discussions on this subject and will continue to do so in the fall once we see how this years spare crop firms up. At that point we will finalize whether and how all players can or should be replaced in the playoffs..... The annual dues will remain the same for this year thanks to Norm and his creative accounting. I guess he is not traveling this winter....Our annual draft will be at the Chateau du Lac fight club on Wednesday, August 24th and our 1st game of the season in Wednesday, August 31st....that is it for now. Have a great summer.

All regular players have had the golf and dinner included in your fees this year. So come on out and play. You have payed for it already. I f you already have a foursome, great. If not we will set you up with one when you get there. All spares and friends are welcome. The cost is $50 for golf and dinner or just $25 for dinner only if you are not a regular player. Last year we had over 60 golfers in the rain and cold. Bring your chain saw and fire works and marshmallows and let's have some fun. See you there.

BLACK WINS FINAL IN OVERTIME

BLACK WINS FINAL IN OVERTIME

Congratulations to Carl Poirier and the Black team in a hard fought 5-4 win over White last night in OT. Peter Thompson scored the winner at 3:06 of the 1st overtime period on assists from Carl Poirier and Ryan Smith. Black scored 3 powerplay goals, including 2 in the 3rd period, after being down 4-2, to mount a comeback against White. There is no doubt Black would not have been to the final if it had not been for the amazing play of goaltender Al Smith. Way to go Al.....Golf is up next. I will post the details over the weekend

LAST PLACE TEAMS BATTLE FOR ROHA CHAMPIONSHIP

LAST PLACE TEAMS BATTLE FOR ROHA CHAMPIONSHIP

Once again proving that the regular season means little when it comes to the ROHA playoffs, the 2 cellar dwellers during the regular season will playoff in the winner-take-all FINAL GAME tomorrow night, Wednesday, April 20th for the coveted ROHA CUP. Black vs. White. Calder vs. Poirier. Puck drops at 8:30 PM. Try to get out and support the boys. Always a great game to watch.

THIS OUGHT TO BE FUN

THIS OUGHT TO BE FUN

Whoever came up with the phrase "Anything can happen in ROHA" was talking about this year. The standings in the playoffs, as of now, are the exact opposite of the final standings in this years regular season. As Mel Allen would say "How about that"....White has already clinched a ticket to this years championship game. Congratulations to White. Never say die....For the rest of the teams, here it is...White has advanced to the final, so it comes down to who advances to the semi-final. If Black wins or ties against White, Black advances to the semi final. The winner of Red vs. Gold will advance to the semi final. If White beats Black, and Red and Gold tie, Black is out. (total points). If White beats Black, the loser in the Red / Gold game will be tied with Black. Tie breaker #3 (team vs team, round robin is out because in both cases, the round robin games have been split 1 to 1. Tie breaker #4 is next, which is goal spread, round robin. If that is tied after next week it will come down to tie breaker # 5 in the round robin which is team vs team in the regular season. If Black and Red are tied, Black will advance as they beat Red 6 games to 3 in the regular season. If Black and Gold are tied, Gold will advance as they had Blacks number all year and won the series 9 to 0....Hopefully this is clear and hopefully I am right.....Next week is obviously the biggest week of the year. To make it just a little more exciting, Stu is hosting a Tail Gate party. He will be setting up his BBQ just outside the front door and cooking up some pulled pork, sausages, and a few other specialties for everyone to chow down on.....Everyone's fate is in their own hands. It just doesn't get better than this. Good luck guys. Bring your best game. Play fair and play hard. Pretty cool, eh!!!!!!

OUR MAN IN KANDAHAR

OUR MAN IN KANDAHAR

Former ROHA player, Bernie Lanteigne, is now in Afghanistan. He e-mailed me today to let me know that all is well and he is following the ROHA playoffs on our website. Bernie is playing hockey in the KHL (Kandahar Hockey League). Ya, he wishes it was more than that.... Ice hockey in the middle of the desert. Apparently, to keep the arena cold enough, they force all the women in town to come to the rink and sit in the stands with their legs apart....Bernie's team is the incoming guys replacing the outgoing team. They need sweaters. He has asked us to donate our old Green sweaters to his team. These sweaters are hanging in my basement, doing nothing, and I can't think of a better place they should be than what Bernie is asking. I have asked Bernie to send me the details and we will make it happen. ROHA, the best league around. Nice to be able to make it happen. Just thought you should all know because you are all a part of it.

VISORS MANDATORY

VISORS MANDATORY

Starting this Wednesday a minimum of a half visor is mandatory to step on the ice in ROHA. The Bourget Arena has asked us as a league to implement this and we will comply with there demand. NO EXCEPTIONS!!

SATURDAY UPDATE

SATURDAY UPDATE

I spoke with both Greg and Gail at about 2 PM this afternoon. Not much has changed and Mark Mailloux's post on the guest book sums up Greg's condition very accurately. His eye is stitched almost completely shut and he is being administered drops directly into the eye every 2 to 4 hours to help prevent the chance of infection. They will evaluate his eye as time goes on but right now they are concerned only with saving his eye. He is still in pain but he says it is more manageable now and better today than yesterday. Greg has greatly appreciated the steady stream of visitors and all of the phone calls that have been made. It is helping him stay strong. He has an amazingly positive approach to his future. The man is a rock. Both Greg and Gail appreciate all the offers of help. They are OK right now and would like to thank everyone who has made the offers. I have told Gail that ROHA will not go away even after the initial buzz cools down. We will be there next week and next month and for however long it takes. As Greg says "ROHA is a family and we are proving it more and more right now". Greg is fully insured so everything is OK in that area of his life....This morning at the Rigaud arena even the on ice coaches were told to put visors on. The ROHA Exec will discuss the mandatory use of visors before this weeks games. We may no longer have a choice. I can't believe anyone would play without one after this horrific accident. For those few guys that don't wear at least a half visor please bring one to the rink this week because I would doubt you will be allowed on the ice without one. Norm will be in touch with the rink and I am pretty sure they will force this issue anyways. It is the smart thing to do and Greg is well aware that he would not be where he is today had he been wearing a visor....Sorry about the parking ticket GaryMarkov #5. I just couldn't help myself. The MAN is always watching you. The beer caps in Haney's shoes is a ROHA classic. Greg said that even though he was fading in and out when they took his shoes off, he had a little laugh as he definitely recognized the familiar sound of the beer caps hitting the floor. Absolutely hilarious.... Greg will be in the Montreal General until at least this Monday. The accounts on the guest book of everyone's visits and phone calls are great. Gail has read them all to Greg. He hopes to be back playing in ROHA next year. Like I said the man is a rock.

UPDATE ON GREG

UPDATE ON GREG

8:30AM Thursday.Obviously the saddest night in ROHA. Greg arrived at the Montreal General hospital last night around 12:45AM. He went into surgery at 5:30AM this morning. Besides the obvious cut above his eye he has suffered a "ruptured" right eye ball. At this point I do not have any more information. The ophthalmologist will be calling Greg's wife at some point this morning with the details. I have asked to be in the loop and will update this page as I get more information. Out thoughts and prayers are with Greg and Gail.....I see a couple of guys have gone on the guest book promising to buy a full face mask and put it on immediately. I think this is a great idea. I would definitely urge any player not wearing at least a visor to do the same.

LATEST UPDATE ON GREG

LATEST UPDATE ON GREG

1:30 PM Thursday. I have just returned from the hospital. I talked with Greg for 45mins. He is in pretty good spirits but he is concerned about his eye. He has a crushed eyeball and cornea. He has broken his orbital bone below the right eye. He has also broken a bone behind the eye. As he put it "he is not out of the woods yet" He is resting in his room and will continue to get updates from the doctor today. They hope to be able to save his eye but unfortunately nothing is for sure at this time. At this point he does not know how long he will be in the hospital....He is very, very aware of what everyone did for him last night. He has asked me to thank everyone for the parts that they played in keeping him comfortable until the ambulance arrived.....We all feel sick to our stomachs today. We all did the right things last night according to both the ambulance driver, who talked with Carl all the way to the hospital, and the emergency room doctor. There was not anything else we could have done according to them. As a league we will review very closely what happened last night and make any improvements that we can. Right now are concerns are with Greg. I will update this later this afternoon as I have more news. I have spoken with both Gail and Greg and they has said that they appreciate the updates and all the offers of help that they are getting. Once they know where they stand they will let us know if there is anything that we as a group can do. there have always been lots of jokes but the funniest would be to see the video of all of us in Haney's barn with our ROHA sweaters on mucking out the shit.

THURSDAY NIGHT WITH GREG

THURSDAY NIGHT WITH GREG

7PM Thursday. Greg, myself and Doug Mair started ROHA 15 years ago. Greg our fearless leader, is down. I have always been the front man. Never have I ever had as many phone calls, text messages or e-mails as I have had today. The overwhelming concern and support for Greg and his family has been overwhelming. Greg is aware of all of this. He and Gail have asked me to thank everyone for their heartfelt thoughts, support and wishes...I saw Greg and Gail at the hospital at about 7PM tonight. This is the latest update and probably the last I will post for now unless there is a drastic change. The puck struck Greg directly in his right eye. His orbital bone was broken as was a bone directly behind his eye. His eyeball was split and has been stitched up as you would close any wound. The sheath that covers the eye was split and has been repaired in surgery as best they could. Because of the swelling and blood behind his eye the doctors are unable, at this time, to determine whether or not his vision will return. No one is sure of the outcome at this time. Greg has said it may take several weeks before there is an answer. I wish I could tell you more but that is about all anyone knows at this time. Each and every call offering help to Greg and his family has been passed along to them. They will get through the first few days and get back to us if they need anything. We all play hockey next week. Greg doesn't. You want to show your support. Wear a shied or a face mask. Do it for Haney, but most of all do it for yourself.

PLAYOFFS ARE HERE

PLAYOFFS ARE HERE

Hard to believe we have 27 weeks behind us in our 15th season of ROHA. Back in 1996-1997, our 1st year, White won the season championship with 28 games played and a 13-10-5 record and 31 points. 5 points ahead of last place Red with an 11-13-4 record and 26 points. Gold led the league this year with 222 penalty minutes. All 4 teams in our inaugural season topped 320 minutes in penalties each. Are we that much older or has Mair finally seen the light. Bobby Simpson won the scoring championship that 1st year with 21 goals, 19 assists for 40 points. Congratulations to Justin Lachapelle on winning this years scoring championship. Two points more than Tony Ellis with 8 less games played. Nice Justin. Congratulations to goalie Claude Brabant with this years best goals against average. Claude also won this in our 1st year and this is the 7th time that Claude has had the best GAA. Nice Claude. Fourteen guys that played our 1st year, 15 years ago, played in ROHA this year and 19 guys from our 2nd year played in ROHA this year. Not bad. Over one third of our players from the beginning still play today. In our 1st year Jim Donnelly finished 9th in scoring. Today he is lucky to get 9 minutes a game. Greg Haney scored 13 goals that 1st year. This year he didn't even have 13 shots on net all year. Al Smith was looking fir babysitters for his kids 15 years ago. Now he is playing with them. Our 1st year Peter Thompson shit his diapers 4 times a day. This year he finished 4th in scoring. Doug Mair had 2 goals and 3 assists in 96-97, this year he had 4 goals and 11 assists. Nice to see an old guy getting better every year. Off course the fact that he had 200 minutes in penalties the 1st year probably didn't help....All in all ROHA doesn't change a lot year by year but some how it just seems to become more fun. We all still go to bed at 1AM every Wednesday no matter if we play the 1st or 2nd game. We all still drag our asses at work all day Thursday and we all try to step it up in the playoffs. Congratulations to Mike De Filippo and the Gold team for finishing in 1st place this year. Can they do it in the playoffs? That remains to be seen. No spares in the playoffs. Every team will miss some one at some time during the playoffs. This is the time of year when we really find out how much chemistry was built during the year in the dressing rooms. The schedule for the playoffs is posted. We have 7 weeks left to determine a champion. This is fun time in ROHA. Be good boys and good luck to everyone. It is going to be a good ride.

Tie Breaker

Tie Breaker

As the last regular season game approaches there is the possibility for Red and Gold to tie for first place. If Red beat White this week and Gold lose in a shootout to Black both teams will finish with 36 points. The first tie-breaker is wins, however both teams will have 17 wins. The second tie-breaker is head-to-head games. Red beat Gold 6 games to 3 in the regular season therefor Red will take 1st place and gold would finish 2nd.....The leading scorers is one of the tightest races we have seen in a long time. As the refs have been known to miss the odd assist or completely miss the guy who scored the goal, I would ask each captain to come and see me right after the games this week if there are any changes needed to be made. I would ask for complete honesty from all involved in this weeks scoring as I am sure 1st place in scoring is important to all involved.....The playoff schedule will be posted on this site on Thursday once the standings are final.....Good luck to all

POKER PARTY THIS SATURDAY FEB 19TH

POKER PARTY THIS SATURDAY FEB 19TH

Valentines Day is over, ROHA regular season is winding down, playoffs are around the corner, time for a stupid night. Andrew Marsh is back in town. It can't get better than this. The annual Glenn Dow ROHA poker night is being held at Yves Cossette's this coming Saturday night. 2460 Woodbine in Saddlebrooke (J7T 2B1). ROHA supplies the beer, Todd and Andrew make sure you smile, and Stu makes sure everyone goes home full. Poker night gives you a chance to beat the guys ya can't beat on the ice and maybe a chance to let the other guys pay for your year. Hope to see everyone there and thanks Yves for letting the guys come in and wreck your place for a night......Ten weeks since the trades. Eight guys changed teams. Biggest trades in ROHA history. Always a risk as to what will happen. The goal was to balance the teams. Give everyone a chance to win. The general consensus was that it was a two tier league. Gold and Red were stronger than Black and White. Since the trades Red and Black have picked up points in 7 out of 10 games. Gold and White have picked up points in 6 out of 10 games. Last weeks games were both decided by shootouts. Most games are decided by a goal or two. What's up with Magog? Is the fix in? Scoring championship is up for grabs. Will Haney ever play again? Three weeks left before the real season starts. The fun starts now. Always lots of controversy but still the best league around.

SOUVLAKI NIGHT THIS WEDNESDAY

SOUVLAKI NIGHT THIS WEDNESDAY

Stu is going to change things up this Wednesday, Feb. 9th. at the old barn to help break up the cold winter doldrums. No sandwiches, just good old souvlaki. This night went over pretty well last year and should do the same this year. Stu is the best. "Footlong a 5 dolla" comes to Rigaud.

POKER PARTY DATE CHANGED

POKER PARTY DATE CHANGED

Is Mailloux right? Is the ROHA Exec. trying to control everything? Are they shutting down not only freedom of speech, but the freedom of family values as well? Imagine that someone would actually try to plan the annual poker night on Valentine Day Saturday night date night. Unbelievable....The annual poker night date has officially been changed to Saturday, Feb. 19th. 7PM at Yves Cossette's poker palace. Feedback from many of the ROHA fraternity was that Valentines Day was one of the for sure "getting laid nights" on their calender. That night stands alone, with the final playoff game in ROHA, as the 2 most important nights of the year. There are more players that make it to the final playoff game, than actually have a chance of still getting laid by their wives or girlfriends in the calender year. We all respect these nights. We all understand the family values of these nights. From the younger players trying to start families to the older guys begging for that night when they are not just tossing one into a wooden bird house, Valentines Day stands above our poker night. A salute to all of our wives and girlfriends. Thank you for letting us play every Wednesday night. We salute you.....Hope to see you all at Yves' on Sat. Feb. 19th.

POKER PARTY

POKER PARTY

Mark Saturday, February 12th on your calendars because Yves Cossette will be hosting the annual Glenn Dow poker party this year. Yves has offered to open the doors to his bachelor pad for a night of poker, hockey pools and whatever happens in the garage. Stu will be there with all you can eat and ROHA will supply the beer. This night has always been one of the best parties of the year and Yves has promised to continue the tradition. Yves is cleaning his garage just for the occasion so Stu can BBQ up a storm. Yves has also promised to have his indoor pool set at just the right temperature for anyone who wants to swim a few laps with the strippers that Yves has promised to have at his house that night. The giant screen HD TV with the Bose sound system will be the perfect place to watch the hockey game in front of the blazing fireplace in Yves' newly renovated games room. Bring a friend if you want. You don't have to play poker if you are not a gambler. Ping pong, an official size billiard table, Wie games and air hockey are all available downstairs in Yves cozy basement. Should be a night to remember.
