Intermediate Baseball League Champions

Kings County Phillies edged the Dieppe Cardinals 4-3 Wednesday night at Kiwanis Park to capture the Southern New Brunswick Baseball League championship. Kings County won the best-of-three final 2-1. Both teams will compete at the New Brunswick intermediate A championship tournament, hosted by the Phillies, from Sept. 6 to 8. Rob Murphy earned the complete-game win for the Phillies. He gave up nine hits while striking out two and walking just one. Guy Robichaud took the complete-game loss. He fanned seven and walked three while surrendering just five hits. Dan Taylor had a single, double and run scored for the Phillies, while Mark Deveaux connected for a double and two singles for the Cardinals.
