Manitoba Maple Leafs win first game over Edmonton Chimos in WWHL Action

The Manitoba Maple Leafs defeated the Edmonton Chimos 5-2 in the first of three game of their Western Women's Hockey League home stand.
The Maple Leafs fought back from a 2 - 0 deficit at the end of the first period with 4 unanswered goals and sealed the game with an empty net tally. Chantal Larocque, team captain scored twice, and said that she " was very happy with the overall team performance" and "that the players didn't get down at the end of the first and came out playing even harder " Janelle Wallase, Jody Holland and Melisa Colombe rounded out the Maple Leaf scoring.
The game was a fast, exciting affair with a number of power play opportunities for both teams with neither team able to dominate for any extended period of time. Final shots were 35-33 in favour of the Leafs.
2010 Vancouver Gold Medalist Olympian - Meaghan is the defensive backbone of the Chimos. Her mature leadership will lead the Chimos to a successful season.
