Another reminder as we close in on the 5 April 2026 deadline  for submitting your new Constitution to the Incorporated Societies register.

IHNZ would like to remind clubs of the urgency in having their constitution updated and resubmitted based upon the new Act.
You are listed as the contact for an incorporated  society that  is yet  to  reregister under the Incorporated Societies Act 2022.
Societies that do not reregister by midnight on 5 April 2026 will cease to exist as incorporated societies and may face consequences for their assets, name and funding arrangements.

This article explains some of the consequences for missing the deadline; https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/sport/583302/fears-many-sport-clubs-don-t-realise-they-re-about-to-be-dissolved
Whilst it is likely many of you have started the process of reviewing and updating your constitution, you must consult members and confirm governance arrangements as well in the last 13 weeks until the deadline.

If your club would like help understanding the new requirements, updating your constitution, or working through the reregistration steps check out the resources attached below.
