Capital Region Junior Hockey League Adds New Franchise
Winnipeg, MB – The Capital Region Junior Hockey League (CRJHL) is set to expand, adding a new franchise for the 2022-23 season.
The new franchise will be based in Beausejour and will begin play this season. Founding member clubs of the league include the Selkirk Fishermen, St. Malo Warriors, North Winnipeg Satelites, Arborg Ice Dawgs and the Lundar Falcons.
Terrance McLean, Director of Operations for the Beausejour franchise remarked, “We’re very excited to have this opportunity to join the CRJHL. We’ve been interested for a few years, however with COVID-19, the timing just wasn’t there. We are pleased to be able to bring a franchise to Beausejour.”
“The CRJHL is pleased to be in a position to expand to 6 teams for the 2022-23 season.”, stated President Cliff Malzensky. “This is something we have been looking forward to for a few seasons now.”
While the new Beausejour franchise has yet to choose a team name, this will be coming in the near future. They have taken a huge step forward however, with Director of Hockey Operations Terrance McLean hiring CRJHL veteran James Worthing to lead the team as General Manager and Coach. James was most recently with the Lundar Falcons and brings a number of years of experience in coaching and recruiting to the Beausejour franchise.
The CRJHL is for players 16-21 years old, looking to play competitive, fast paced hockey. The league has a schedule that allows players to attend school or work, while still competing at a high level of play.
