Rugby has a long and proud history in Eastern Ontario, bringing communities together from across the region and around the world through a shared passion for sport.
More than forty years ago a team of volunteers had a vision of building a multi-sport facility complete with a stadium field, four club fields and a full clubhouse. After years of hard work, fundraising and construction, Twin Elm Rugby Park (TERP) was opened in the spring of 1976.
Today, TERP is a not-for-profit sports’ facility nestled between cornfields in rural Ottawa. The park is managed and administered by a board of dedicated volunteers drawn from its membership. In the decades since opening, Twin Elm has been a meeting place for thousands of athletes and sport enthusiasts from Ottawa, Eastern Ontario and in particular the surrounding rural communities of North Gower, Manotick, Goulbourn, Richmond, Munster and Lanark-Carleton among others.
As the hub of rugby in Eastern Ontario for all ages, from mini-rugby (aged 6-10) to vintage rugby (aged 60+), TERP has played host to a large number of events and tournaments both big and small. Everything from international games and tournaments for Canada’s Men’s and Women’s national teams to national and provincial championships and Rookie Rugby clinics have brought spectators and participants from around the world to TERP. Local clubs, high schools, colleges, universities and social sports clubs have all benefited from the use of Twin Elm stadium and the entire TERP facility over the years.
On top of the promotion of sport and active lifestyles, TERP has brought people from different backgrounds and social circles together through a shared sense of community for a generation. Young men and women have been able to make lifelong friendships, find jobs, build professional networks and generally share in the beauty between the cornfields at Twin Elm for decades.
After many years working with local social sports clubs to host touch football, soccer and ultimate Frisbee, TERP has most recently expanded its partnerships with other clubs for Gaelic football, lacrosse and dog shows, all in an effort to promote community, sport and active lifestyles.
Twin Elm has a forty-year history of meeting the needs of sports groups and the rural community in Eastern Ontario. We have a vision to improve and enhance this support.
