Today, Men’s Head Coach Kingsley Jones announced that veteran scrum-half Phil Mack will lead Canada as Captain for the entire November tour.
“Phil Mack will lead the side (Canada) for the November series. Doesn’t mean he will play every game but certainly this coming Friday against the New Zealand Maori at BC Place. What a great honour for him, he thoroughly deserves it. This guy has given a lot to Canadian rugby, both Sevens and Fifteens. He leads by example and I know that he has the respect of all the players and coaches, whether they are playing overseas, whether they are local, whether they are from the east or the west. For me he is a natural leader and I look forward to working with him.” Said Jones ahead of this Fridays match against the Maori All Blacks
Mack, who’s been a stalwart in both Sevens and Fifteens for over a decade, made his debut for Canada against Ireland in 2009 and was a member of the 2015 Rugby World Cup side.
“It’s a big honour obviously, any time you play for your country is a big deal. To be asked to lead the team is something I don’t take lightly, just looking forward to it”. Phil Mack on being named Captain for the November Series
