Semi-Finals & Finals

Format is best 2 of 3 games in Semi-Finals with winners moving on to Best 2 of 3 Finals

Tie games in Semi-Final and Final games will be broken by a 5 minute 5 on 5 sudden death, stop time period. If still tied, each team will compete in a best of 3 shootout, If still tied, a sudden death shootout will commence. No players can be re-used until all players have shot. This process will continue until a winner is determined. The shootout will run simultaneously with both shooters going at the same time. Teams must pick the initial 3 shooters and indicate them on the game sheet prior to the start of the 5 minute sudden death overtime period.

General Rules

Helmuts/Face Shield's - it is mandatory for all players to wear a minimum of a CSA approved helmut and half-shield (visor) and a mouthguard. This is for insurance coverage and liability reasons. CARHA will not provide facial (dental or eye) insurance coverage to players who do not wear this minimum protection.

Players must play a minimum for 7 regular season games to be eligible for the playoff's. This means 7 games during the first rounds which will consist of around 21 games. Games until the end of January will count towards the 7 games. Playoff games start when we split into 3 or 4 divisions for the final round robins.

CARHA Oldtimers rules are in effect - no slapshots, 3 penalties and you are out of the game, no bodychecking etc.

Games are all 2 periods, 20 minutes stop time.

Age - Players must be 35 years old - must have celebrated 35th birthday before they can play in a game.

Penalty Minutes - 40 minutes – 1 game suspension - 60 minutes – 3 game suspension - 80 minutes – Balance of the season – review by Executive

5 Minute Major - 1st occurrence – remainder of game plus 3 game suspension - 2nd occurrence – remainder of game plus 5 game suspension - 3rd occurrence - remainder of game plus 8 game suspension

Fighting/Match Penalty - 1st occurrence – remainder of game plus 5 game suspension - 2nd occurrence – Indefinite suspension pending review by Executive - 3rd occurrence – Balance of Season – review by Executive

Intent to Injure/Match Penalty - 1st occurrence – remainder of game plus 10 game suspension - 2nd occurrence – Balance of Season – review by Executive

Gross Misconduct - 1st occurrence – remainder of game plus 5 game suspension - 2nd occurrence – Indefinite suspension pending review by Executive

Match Penalty Involving Referee - Indefinite suspension – minimum 1 year – pending review by Executive

Game Misconduct in the Last 10 Minutes of a Game - Player is suspended for 1 game - must miss the next scheduled game.
