Year End Banquet and Award Recipients

Year End Banquet and Award Recipients

Moira Bryan

The Wolves celebrated their season with a banquet and awards ceremony at Keephills Community Hall on May 14, 2022. It was a wonderful time celebrated with the players, coaching staff, and close friends and family. Everyone enjoyed food provided by Sandyview Farms, followed by the award presentation and then a year end slideshow highlighting the team's accomplishments and high points of the season, both on and off the ice.

Award Recipients

Top Scorer

The Top Scorer Award went to #91 Kaylee Vader. This is awarded to the player with the most points in regular season league play. Vader played 17 games this year, scoring 19 goals and 11 assists for a total of 30 points. Sadly, this was Vader's first and final season with the Wolves as an overage player, but we wish her all the best of luck in the future!

Most Improved Player

The Most Improved Player Award went to #6 Brooklyn Pebiak. This is awarded to the player that has exhibited the greatest growth in hockey skills, on-ice knowledge and overall performance throughout the season. Pebiak played 21 games this year, scoring 3 goals and 3 assists for a total of 6 points. In her first year on the team, Pebiak stepped into different forward roles as needed, and even played defence when support was needed on the back end. We are looking forward to seeing what more she accomplishes next season!

Most Outstanding Forward

The Most Outstanding Forward Award went to #17 Bree Edwards. This is awarded to the most outstanding all-around forward on the team. Edwards played 21 games this season, scoring 15 goals and 9 assists for a total of 24 points. Powerful in the face-off circle, Edwards could be counted on in all three zones. She also made an appearance at the AJFHL All-Star Game.

Most Outstanding Defenseman

The Most Outstanding Defenseman Award went to #18 Tessa Ross. This is awarded to the most outstanding all-around defenseman on the team. Ross played 21 games this season, scoring 4 goals and 7 assists for a total of 11 points. Ross played a big role on the back end this year and scored a few of her signature goals - a wrist shot from the blue line going top corner every time. She also made an appearance at the AJFHL All-Star Game, scoring that same signature goal to win the game for Team North in overtime.

Wolves Award

The Wolves Award went to #4 Anne-Marie Dumont and #22 Grace Flanagan. This is awarded to the player who demonstrates the Wolves spirit of determination, character, teamwork, coachability, dedication and hard work. Dumont played 21 games this season, scoring 2 goals and 4 assists for a total of 6 points. Dumont's fearlessness on the forecheck and her speed on the ice opened up many opportunities for the team and she was an important part of the penalty kill. Flanagan played 22 games this season, scoring 3 goals and 13 assists for a total of 16 points. Flanagan was often able to take control of the play and her smooth puck handling and play making abilities are a direct reflection of her high number of assists. She also made an appearance at the AJFHL All-Star Game.

Bill Porter Award

The Bill Porter Award went to #5 Claudine Boucher. This award is voted on by the players and given to the Wolves player that has provided positive social interaction, created friendships, demonstrated the character traits of hard work, honesty and shown desire for the team to improve & excel both on and off the ice. Boucher played 21 games this season, scoring 5 goals and 8 assists for a total of 13 points. In addition to being a big part of the defensive lineup, Boucher was an important leader on the team as well as always being positive, outgoing, and friendly with all of her teammates both on and off the ice.

Most Valuable Player

The Most Valuable Player Award went to #13 Moira Bryan. This award goes to the player whose contributions meant the most to the team. Bryan played 21 games this season, scoring 9 goals and 4 assists for a total of 13 points. Bryan consistently played both forward and defense, slotting into the lineup wherever was needed for each game. Her hard work and dedication played a big role in the Wolves' successes this year.

While these players were singled out for each of their accomplishments over the season, their successes would be diminished without the support and contributions of the entire Wolfpack. We are looking forward to tryouts at the end of August and seeing some new and familiar faces back for another wonderful season next year!
