EUGENE YOUNG
It is with great sadness that I write the following tribute to a fallen friend. December 21st Eugene Young passed away after suffering a cardiac episode. For anyone only in the league for less than two years, you may not remember him well as his work in the shipyards took many of his nights. Before that, there was a brother team of Lionel and Eugene Young, who played against each other, with each other and together took on the Atlantic Ocean for their living . Always positive, Eugene would share his enthusiasm for life with all around him. I myself had many a laugh with Eugene in the dressing room as I know so have many of you. I actually played with Eugene for his last shift in our league last year. Little did I know that fact would mean so much now.
Eugene was strong...... let me rephase that... Incredibly Strong. His life in the fishing industry had ensured that if you shook hands after the game.... be prepared. His play was that of full speed ahead. Gave everything he had and I'm sure he faced life the same way. To all his family and friends his passing hurts and our entire league sends it's condolences. A great player, a great friend and a great man has touched us and left the ice.
