Friday's Game

Friday we have the Kimberley Dynamiters in town for the second time this year. This is part one of a home and home with the Nitros, game two is in Kimberley Saturday and it is a scheduled Drive 99.1 radio broadcast game.

The Dynamiters were here December 1st and the Riders won 2-1. On December 18th the Ghostriders lost 4-2 in a penalty filled game in Kimberley. Kimberley is currently on a 7 game win streak. They were on a 12 game win streak December 1st.

The Ghostriders played two games in the Kamloops KIJHL Showcase last week. After losing 3-1 to Sicamous the boys won 4-2 against Summerland then on New Year’s Eve in Creston they shutout the T-Cats 4-0. Riley Fonger had the shutout.

Ghostriders Notes

The Boston Pizza Player of the Month of December was goaltender Riley Fonger who finished December with his 3rd shutout of the month a .946 save %, 2.14 goals against and a 5-2 record. Congratulations Riley.

The Tim Horton’s Player of the Week is Nikolas Sombrowski with 4 points last week.

Team Captain Keelan Saworski missed two months with an injury then returned to the lineup December 18th. In his last four games he has 3 goals and 2 assists.

Johnny Elias scored a goal in both of the Riders last two games. His stick is catching up to his skates.

After scoring 11 points in his first 5 games Simon Bergsagel missed the two Kamloops games but returned New Year’s Eve.

D-Man Greg Susinski (PP) scored his 8th goal of the season in Creston, he now has 23 points, just two behind Nikolas Sombrowski .

Dylan Defosse scored his second shorthanded goal this year and the Riders 9th in Creston.

The Riders have only allowed 16 power play goals, they kill 89.61% of their penalties and are second only to Revelstoke with 12 GA.

Josh Dalquist, Owen Titus Aiden Gleisner and David Lenzin all missed games lately due to injuries. 

The Ghostriders play Creston and Castlegar on the weekend of January 11-12 here at home.
