- Submitted by
The Battle of the #1 highway took place last night as the GPC SunDogs hosted the Palliser Panthers. The women's match kicked off the night in an exciting match.

In the first set the SunDogs took an early lead until Danielle Kowalyk came up to serve and put the Panthers back in the game late in the set. The SunDogs got their momentum back and won the first set 25-23. The second set again was a close one with the Panthers coming out on top 25-22. The SunDogs took the third set 25-9. The 4th set was exciting from start to finish. It was a back and forth set that went the distance and saw the Sundogs prevail with a score of 33 -31.

The long night continued as the men's match was equally exciting. With 1st place on the line the men's teams battled through a long 5 set match. The Sundogs took the first set 25-20, with Palliser coming right back and winning the next set 19-25. The SunDogs came right back and took the 3rd set 25-19. The Panthers outplayed the SunDogs in the 4th set winning the 25-15. This set up a fifth and deciding set #5. The SunDogs took the early lead but the Panthers came back and battled hard right to the finish. Down 13-9, the Panthers made a late push and tied it up at 13's but couldn't sustain enough pressure. The final set went to the SunDogs 15-13.

The win moves the SunDogs into a tie for first place with the Panthers in the league standings. The two teams will meet up again in Moose Jaw on November 6th, 2012
