Fall Invitational Try-out Camp Has Begun
- Submitted by
The Drayton Valley Thunder kicked off their 2012-2013 Fall Invitational Try-out Camp this morning.

With 6 goaltenders, 14 defencemen and 25 forwards hitting the ice for two-a-day sessions, Head Coach and General Manager Fran Gow will be combing through the ranks looking to fill 9 open spots for the upcoming AJHL campaign as the Thunder will be welcoming back 11 players from last year’s roster.

With this year’s regular season less than three weeks away, Gow and his staff will be holding sessions twice-daily prior to Wednesday’s first intra-squad match. By Friday, Gow will whittle the numbers down to 29 skaters to commence their first of 3 exhibition games.

After hosting Spruce Grove and Whitecourt at the Omniplex Friday and Saturday, the Thunder hit Hiway 22 for Edson for an afternoon tilt with the Grande Prairie Storm. The Sherwood Park Crusaders hit the Omniplex on Tuesday, Aug. 28th for a pre-season tilt . The Thunder then finish off their pre-season schedule with three road games in Whitecourt, Spruce Grove and Sherwood Park

The Thunder’s 2012-2013 campaign starts Sept. 7 with a weekend double-header in Fort McMurray versus the Oil Barons before returning home the following Saturday night for a 7:30 start against the Calgary Canucks.
