York Diamonds
Deported Diamond Allowed to Return
- Submitted by

After a rather decent rookie season, York outfielder Steve Foley entered this season looking to improve on his 2005 results. Unfortunately for Foley his season, and life, took an unexpected twist when he was arrested after the Diamonds first game and subsequently deported. Foley was to have been deported to the United States, however that country refused to accept him so he was then sent to the Bahamas. Throughout the ordeal Foley maintained that the whole situation was just one big mistake. "I'm from Canada. I was born here. If I hadn't lost my wallet and identification I could prove it to you. I was talking about Muhammad Ali, not that other one! I promise!", he was overheard telling the arresting officers.

According to law enforcement officials present at the time of the arrest, Foley's kitchen table was covered with "all sorts of foreign propaganda" from other nations. We were unable to reach Steve for a comment. We tracked down his brother as he was leaving a rehab clinic and he had this to say, "It wasn't propaganda on the table... whatever that word means... it was just a lot of travel guides and hotel information. Stuff like that. He was planning a trip. I did warn him about leaving it all out in the open like he did though. These days everyone's a little paranoid about terrorists, so I guess the cops saw all the papers strewn about and just overreacted a tad. Speaking of that, I wonder what made the immigration officials think he was from the Bahamas anyway? I wonder what they were smoking and where can I get some? Hey! Maybe my brother will smuggle some good stuff back with him. Do you think so??".

Team spokesman Paul Freeman issued this statement to the media, "We're looking forward to having Steve back whenever this mess is finally sorted out. Hopefully discovering that two countries don't want him won't be too traumatic for the guy. That kind of thing doesn't happen everyday you know". When contacted, authorities refused to comment for fear of revealing informants and information gathering techniques to the enemy.
