In yet another strange incident, the York Diamonds issued a press release saying that World Series rings will be presented to members of last year's championship team before the home opener tonight at Keelesdale Park. While many of the team's fans expected some sort of pre-game ceremony, local law enforcement officials appeared to be caught off-guard by the announcement.
"Yes we were very interested when we heard the team's announcement. In fact, we're stunned that they have the nerve to announce something like that. Many of you may not know this, but the White Sox World Series rings were stolen recently. We contacted the FBI and you can be sure that we're going to be paying a visit to the park tonight", said Chief Clancy Wiggum,"Through our investigation, we've learned that the two York players who actually stole the rings have returned to Chicago this weekend... probably just to avoid being captured alive. It won't work though. We'll get them. They didn't reckon with the awesome power of the Chief of Police! Now where did I put my badge?...Hey, that duck's got it!".
Be sure to be at the park tonight to see if the Diamonds are finally arrested for their felonious ways or if they'll once again elude the long arm of the law.
