: Juvenile 2012
What is Juvenile Football?

Juvenile football is the brainchild of the BC Junior Football Conference. It felt that there was a need to more fully develop players in BC rather than look out of province. The felt that it was important to develop 18, 19 and 20 year old players. They also felt that it was important to NOT conflict with Midget in the fall but, rather, compliment midget.

This is who can play:
  1. Any player born in 1994
  2. Any player born in 1993 and was not on a Junior or University Roster
  3. Any player born in 1992 and was not on a Junior or University Roster

Number 3 is really important as it means that the older players are either rookies or players coming straight out of Midget or High School.

Number 4 ensures that the oldest players are either rookies or, they have not played in one or two years.

1995 players will permitted to play based on skill and ability.

This is the first season. There will be 4 teams...Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby and a Group from North Delta. Next year, we anticipate that the league will have two 4 team conferences...east and west.

Each team has its own geaographic area and all players from that area can only play for that team. Our geographic area is Burnaby, New Westminster and Coquitlam. In addition, players who played for the teams midget division are grandfathered in.

The season will start with practices on March 1, 2012, the games will start on Good Friday and the season will end in early June.

The Junior Football teams in BC are very excited about this. They will be out there looking and may be helping.

Who will this help?

This is going to help anyone who is not quite ready for Junior Football or University or wants to hone their skills for the upcoming season.

Ontario has a huge Spring football Program with 3 leagues. In addition to players going into their senior year of High School Football, players who are also top university prospects use spring football to keep their skills, especially their games skills, sharp. I was just talking to a University Coach from and Ontario University and they believe that more football in spring can only make players better.

The cost is $250.00 and that covers all equipment except for cleats. Players born in 1995 and 1994 who play Juvenile and midget have $50.00 reduced from their midget fall registration.

Burnaby Midget players are getting first call before we move into the following High Schools which fall in our Catchment area:

  • Saint Thomas More
  • New Westminster
  • Centennial
  • Terry Fox
  • Moscrop
  • Notre Dame Players living in Burnaby
