Bob Beatty

Head Coach & General Manager
Bob Beatty is heading into his second season at the helm of the Cowichan Capitals as Head Coach and General Manager. Bob is also a Director and member of the ownership group.
Prior to joining the Capitals organization, Bob spent nine years as Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's (SJHL) La Ronge Ice Wolves. With the Ice Wolves, Bob won back-to-back league Championships in 2009-10 and 2010-11. In 2009-10 the Ice Wolves competed for the Royal Bank Cup in Dauphin, Manitoba. The following year, La Ronge fell in the Annavet Cup in the seventh and deciding game.
Before joining the Ice Wolves, the Watrous, Saskatchewan native spent eight years as the Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations of the SJHL's Humboldt Broncos. Bob lead the Broncos to three league finals, winning one in 2002-03 en route to the 2003 RBC Championship in Charlottetown, PEI. In his seventeen years as a head coach in the SJHL, Bob accumulated a record of 510-361-42-60.
Having appeared in five league finals, winning three, and competing for the RBC Cup twice, winning once, Bob hopes his Championship pedigree will help restore the Capitals as one of the premier clubs in the British Columbia Hockey League.

Aaron Plumb

Assistant Coach
Aaron Plumb is entering his fifth season as an Assistant Coach with the Cowichan Capitals. Aaron has come full circle in life. He played one season with the Capitals before embarking on a pro hockey career before returning in a coaching capacity in 2010-11.
The Shawnigan Lake, BC, native played minor hockey in the Cowichan Valley system before making the jump to Junior A. Aaron joined the Capitals for the 1998-99 season. In 52 games that year, he collected 45 points (14G 31A) along with 179 penalty minutes. Aaron went on to play one year of university hockey with Mount Royal College before turning pro for five years.
Aaron spent time playing with the United Hockey League's (UHL) Kalamazoo Wing, Central Hockey League's (CHL) Wichita Thunder, West Coast Hockey League's (WCHL) San Diego Gulls and Tacoma Sabercats and the East Coast Hockey League's (ECHL) Victoria Salmon Kings and Idaho Steelheads from 2000-2006. He spent one full season with the Salmon Kings in 2004-05. In 211 professional games, Aaron had 55 points (17G 38A) along with 581 penalty minutes.
Aaron's goal as a coach is to get the most out of players and to better prepare them for their future in hockey and in life.

Darren Rodney

Assistant Coach
Darren Rodney has been apart of the Cowichan Capitals organization in a multitude of roles over a long period of time. The many hats Darren has worn spans from Community/Public Relations and Marketing to Scouting and Coaching and everything in between. Darren's current role with the Capitals is as an Assistant Coach and Director.
Following his first stint with the Capitals, Darren embarked on a coaching opportunity with the British Columbia Hockey League's (BCHL) Powell River Kings where he spent two years as an Assistant Coach before returning to Duncan.
Darren has a long history of coaching. Along with his work in the BCHL with Cowichan and Powell River, he has also coached the BC Best Ever program at the U16 and U17 level as well as coaching internationally at numerous tournaments in Sweden over the past decade. Darren has also coordinated tours for Swedish U16 teams to play friendly's with teams from the SJHL, NAHL, and BCHL.
The Creston, BC, native enjoys spending his spare time with his better half, Kelly, and their daughter, Raleigh.

Rob DeClark

Assistant Coach/Mental Performance Coach
Rob DeClark is in his fourth season as the Assistant Coach and Mental Performance Coach with the Cowichan Capitals joining the organization in 2011-12.
Rob holds multiple roles as an Assistant Coach with the team. He is the video coach and works with coaches and players to provide video support. His main role with the club is to provide players with Mental Performance Coaching and Player Support.
The Richmond, BC, native both played his minor hockey and began his coaching career in his hometown. When Rob moved to Kamloops, he had a casual mentoring relationship with some of the Western Hockey League's (WHL) Kamloops Blazers. Two of whom are now regulars in the National Hockey League (NHL). While working with the Blazers, Rob decided he wanted to be a support person for junior hockey players.
Rob pursued his education, where he ended with a Masters Degree from Carleton University. Upon moving to the Cowichan Valley, he began coaching again where he coached Bantam AAA.
Rob's goals as a coach are to develop a National Player Assistance Program for junior hockey players. This goal has already led Rob to the offices of Hockey Canada. He is also in discussion with the BCHL's Board of Governors to create a program to better assist players with the mental and personal side of their lives.

Lou Gravel

Director of Scouting & Recruiting
Lou Gravel is the Director of Scouting for the Cowichan Capitals.
Lou has an extensive history in the game of hockey at the junior level. He was a goaltender in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Quebec Remparts from 1983-1985. As a player, Lou also played in the 1983 Air Canada Cup National Midget Championship, now known as the Telus Cup, where he was an All Star Team goalie.
The Quebec City native also played two years of professional hockey in France and played and coached for the University of Ottawa GeeGees.
Lou has a long resume of scouting experience. He spent time as the Head Scout of the BCHL's Salmon Arm Silverbacks. He also scouted for the Nanaimo Clippers and the USHL's Omaha Lancers.
He has also been the General Manager of Team Canada West for the eight years having attended the NHL Pre Draft and Chowder Cup Tournaments.
