The following are effective as of April 6, 2013
Each Club is responsible for providing a home field and time for all home games identified as (H) on the schedules. If a club fails to provide a field for an assigned Home game, this must be reported to Narinder Sangha, President, GVJFHL (narindersangha@hotmail.com) and a $50 fine will be levied to that club. Same rules apply if you are a no show to a game. The charges will be applied to the missing team.

Coaches must contact the opposing coach/mgr. to confirm field & time to play (well in advance please). The schedule with game times and locations are available on the GVJFHL website, but a quick call or email to the opposing coach simply serves as confirmation and avoids a possible error. Please avoid game cancellations. If need be, please reschedule since this is such a short season or call up players from a younger age group.

All cancelled games must be reported to Narinder Sangha (narindersangha@hotmail.com) and the Club involved will be charged a $50 fine, payable to the GVJFHL. Cancellation and rescheduling requires a minimum of 72 hours notice.

The individual team contacts & schedules are now available on the GVJFHL website www.bcfieldhockey.com
Note: Boys and Girls schedules are both found on the GVJFHL website
Game score reporting procedures and scores and standings can be found on the GVJFHL website:

If a club is unable to provide enough field time at their home park to accommodate the Home game requirement, that club should contact another club to arrange for additional turf/field time.

If you require a special arrangement to re-schedule a game, you must negotiate an arrangement with the opposing team. Failure to come to a reasonable agreeable alternative will always fall back to original schedule for responsibility to play & field the game. It is not reasonable to request a team to play two games in one weekend and no games another weekend. We base the season on one game per week or weekend. If your team is attending a tournament such as the Cal Cup, make arrangements to reschedule well in advance

Each home team is required to provide two umpires per home game.

Any concerns with the schedule should be directed to your Club's home field scheduler

Players are required to remove jewelry prior to game start for safety of themselves and others.

Umpires need to be reminded to:

(i) Check before each game that all players have mouth guards, shin guards and NO jewelry or watches.

(ii) No use of stick over the shoulder to force obstruction and no crosschecking will be allowed

Coaches: Please be reminded that, in many cases, we have umpires in training and missed calls will occur! Without the contribution of these young people, our League would be much more difficult to operate. Be kind and more importantly, have your parents be kind, and if you choose to offer direction, let it be in a supportive and positive manner.

The schedules have been prepared with as much consideration as possible, to provide 50% of each teams league games at home. Additionally, 50% each club overall league games at home one weekend and 50% home game the next weekend. You can well imagine that it "may not be a perfect world" for everyone, but on the average it seems to have worked out pretty close. Those hosting a tournament on certain weekends.... we will work with you to encourage other clubs to support your need to possibly switch a few home games as your field will be tied up.

Hope you all have a great season!!

Note if you are interested in the Club Championship/Festival Tournaments, I would suggest registering early, as spots may be limited especially for some age groups. See www.fieldhockeybc.com for registration forms & information. Registration is available online, but there are conditions placed on acceptance of your entry.
