The following are effective as of September 29, 2011
1050 Rules 2011-2012 Year 18B> ______________________________________________________________________________

1. No slap shots. (A stick raised above the ankle will be considered a slap shot). No fake slap shots.

2. No contact.

3. Red line is not in play. Two line passes are allowed.

4. Do not have to change on the fly.

5. *Minor penalties will be served according to standard hockey rules. # 6 and 7 below will only apply if it becomes necessary to re-institute them.

6. *If the League notices a marked increase in either or both the number of penalties occurring and/or severity of the infractions, we will revert back to the Penalty shot rule per # 7 below.

7. All penalties incur a penalty shot. (*except coincidental penalties.)
a) Any stick on the body infraction, eg. Hooking, slash, high stick etc. warrants an additional 3 minute minor. The player serves the minor but the team does NOT play short-handed.
b) Roughing, contact, intentional slashing etc. (Major penalties) applied as (a) above.
c) Players in the Penalty box CANNOT affect a line change at the expiration of their penalty(s) from the penalty box area.

9. Any player who receives 3 minor penalties in a game will be ejected for the balance of that game.

10. Any player who receives 1 major in a game will be ejected for the balance of that game AND be suspended for a minimum 1 additional game. Further disciplinary action may also be enacted.

11. At the discretion of the League Executive, and based on the severity/types of penalties, any player who incurs 5 minor penalties, (or more), within a season may be suspended for one game following the 5th minor. Penalties incurred while sparing will count towards a player’s overall penalty count.

12. Any player who attempts to engage in fisticuffs shall be suspended for a minimum 2 games. If said player attempts a subsequent encounter at any point in the season he shall be expelled from the League.

13. Any player who engages in fisticuffs shall be expelled from the League without right of appeal or review, effective immediately.

14. The faceoff immediately preceding the start of a minor penalty will take place in the offensive zone, *according to standard application of the Referee’s rule book. If there is 30 seconds or less in the 1st half, the game clock will be stopped to allow for the offensive face off to occur.

15. Ties for Top scorer/goalie will be broken based on overall number of games played. The lesser games played will determine the champion.

16. Players should notify their team representative if they are going to miss a game.

17. Jerseys are the property of the RA Centre. Please be considerate and return them at season’s end.

18. Players will be moved from team to team in an attempt to balance the teams.

19. Bring pucks to the game. The League does not supply them.

20. Players have a responsibility and obligation to ensure their physical well-being is paramount before partaking in our program.

21. A team shooting the puck the length of the ice from outside their own defensive zone will NOT be charged an icing. The play will continue.

22. Players should encourage each other. Share your knowledge, share the ice, and have fun.

23. The RA Executive is responsible for the administrative and operational control and conduct of the activity, and its rulings will supersede the application of the C.A.R.H.A. rule book. The games will be officiated according to the C.A.R.H.A. rule book.

24. The League Executive reserves the right to implement judgments/decisions which may not be covered under League bylaws or House rules.

25. League Coordinator - Mark Fish - the main contact/organizer. Email mfish@racentre.com or 736-6237. The program falls under the auspices of the main RAHL program run by Pat Coyne. The Referee-in-Chief is Pat Frost. In the event of an issue arising which may warrant a collective resolution, any of these individuals, including the score keeper and/or General Manager, may sit on an Executive panel for the purpose of resolving the matter.

26. SPARE rule will be as follows: Any non-League individual wishing to spare may play a MAXIMUM of 3 times in total. Players within the League may spare 3 times within their respective division as well as 3 times in another division. *Players playing in two divisions are limited to 6 games in total as a spare, per the rule reading. (*The League reserves the right to make exceptions if needed).

27. In the event a goalie is not available to play, the game will be declared a 1-1 tie, and any scoring records for that game will not be kept.

28. Any player who plays in two O50 divisions will not be eligible to win a scoring title in the lower of the two divisions. The same applies to goaltenders. Any player playing in an RA evening league, or a known league determined to be not a 50+ aged league, shall not be eligible to win a scoring title or top goalie title.

29. PLAYOFFS Spares - Teams may use a player(s) from within their own division only, now known as the spare. Non-League players are ineligible to spare. The spare must be a player listed no higher than 31st in the overall division standings. Teams may only use enough spares to bring their team complement up to 8 players.
