INTRAMURAL ELIGIBILITY RULESBPB>Who's Eligible?BP>Participation in intramural activities at St.F.X. University is open to all full-time students who carry FULL classes at all times. Part-time students must obtain permission of the Intramural Coordinator, subject to final approval by the Board, before they may participate. Faculty and staff members are welcome to participate in the program.Intramural UnitsBP>A student who is eligible for intramural participation must participate for the unit in which s/he lives or is affiliated with. A unit may consist of a residence, floor or off-campus group/team. Each unit has a manager who administers the unit's activities in the Intramural program. Unit Managers represent both on and off campus teams.
Students residing in Somers Hall or Power Hall are considered to be off-campus participants. The Board shall retain the right to add to the list of eligible competing units or to withdraw units from the list.On & Off Campus StudentsBP>On-campus students are to participate by contacting their Unit Manager within their residence before the entry deadline for each sport.
Off-campus students are to participate by contacting their off-campus counselor or by contacting the Intramural Office. Off campus students are free to form their own units and appoint a Unit Manager as their Intramural contact for the school year. Anyone interested in becoming a Unit Manager is asked to contact the Intramural office immediately.Don't have a Unit?BP>In the situation where a unit has not entered a team in a particular sport or activity, a student may request to play for another unit, upon approval of the Intramural Board. In the situation where an individual does not have a unit to participate with, they are to contact the Intramural Office and the Intramural staff will assign them to a team/unit.

Eligibility GuidelinesBP> To be eligible for intramural participation, a student must have his/her name on the participating unit entry form for recreational competition which must be turned in at the intramural office before the specified deadline.
The participating units may enter teams or single entries in all intramural activities if they comply with the rules that govern that activity. An official team entry must consist of enough players to meet the minimum player requirement for that sport. Special requests can be made to the Student Director prior to team registration.
Individuals who sign eligibility cards for any sport outside of the university community, at any level of competition, are ineligible to participate in that same intramural sport.
A player must play at least 50% of league games to be eligible for playoffs. A player may be included on one team roster only for a particular activity. A line-up submitted by the team managers prior to the first game shall be retained for the duration of the season. Once the league has begun play, teams may add players from their own unit to their team list, by either doing so in the Intramural office prior to the game or on site.
It is the team captain's or unit manager's responsibility to sign the game sheet at the conclusion of each game, and to ensure that all information is correct and that all players are eligible.

PenaltiesBP>If a player changes from one team to another after one game has been played, such player shall be declared ineligible for that activity for the remainder of the year.
Any individual who participates under an assumed name shall be declared ineligible for that activity for the remainder of the year and the contest in which s/he played illegally shall be awarded to the opposition and recorded as a default.
The penalty for any team playing an ineligible player shall be the default of all games in which the ineligible player played. Entrance points for that sport shall also be forfeited. If the team played more than one game with the ineligible player within one week, they shall default only their first game while the other games shall be recorded as a forfeit.
The executive may declare any individual ineligible if they feel that individual's participation detrimental to the program.Varsity AthletesBP>Students who are members or candidates for varsity teams are ineligible for the intramural participation in that activity while they are practicing and/or playing with the respective varsity team. Once they are disassociated from their said team, they immediately become eligible for intramural play. Their names must be cleared through the IC and added to the team roster of their participating unit.
In an activity where recreational participation precedes intervarsity competition, the coach of the varsity team in that sport shall be consulted and s/he will recommend the proper eligibility status to the IC, who shall make the final decision. Any person who played a varsity sport the previous year must have his/her name cleared with the IC.
